I work at a restaurant within the Gibsons Restaurant Group. On Friday, an 18 year old female host was shown a photo of a topless woman by our male AGM. The image was privately texted to the AGM by this woman. The woman does not work for Gibsons (we assume) but is a woman the manager has a personal relationship with.

What can we do moving forward? This manager has been notorious in causing issues, especially with the young female hosts. HR has been repeatedly notified of his inappropriate remarks and behavior, but this is by far the most egregious.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Fellow Chicagoans.

I have a vulnerable senior in my neighborhood. She is AT LEAST neglected by her family, if not being financially abused. Neighbors are trying to step up but she is left outside by her family all day alone. Her son told me "she's not homeless" as if that's the only criteria. She is a funny, sweet woman of almost 90 years old. We try to make sure she has food most days and some conversation but I'm concerned about the living situation and how her family is treating her. I'm worried that involving social services won't actually help the situation. Last time I called them about a vulnerable senior begging on the street they made one attempt to find him, didn't send someone who spoke English, and he's still out there every day.

I have invited her into my home when it's hot and/or smoky. Others have taken her in for one or two nights (she is afraid of the basement where they keep her). I bring her food and water/coffee as I can. I got her registered at the senior center but I think she might be afraid to be left alone there for any length of time and she can't walk or navigate the bus that far away.

Does anyone know if social services can actually HELP people or are they too overwhelmed? She has early dementia but knows all her kid's names, knows her birthday and where she's from. She makes jokes and tells stories. She is clean and can go to the bathroom by herself and get around (clearly because she's going up and down basement stairs every day).

It's really awful and sad.

Can anyone give advice on how to get a proper evaluation and follow up from social services?

I just moved to Chicago for 4 months, currently living in McKinley Park area. Having one roommate, but she is on vacation. Got home late today around 9pm, the main house door was broken my unit door same. I did not lock my bedroom door so they easily opened it. My storage boxes drawers were all opened, they looked up everything in my room. But my laptop iPad old iPhone passport are still with me. I called the landlord they called police. It’s almost 12am but I’m still waiting for the police. I’m wondering the people broke into my room but did not take laptop and other valuable things to me. I don’t have cash or cards stored at home. What are they looking for? Am I still safe staying here if with the door lock changed? I’m moving for another place in about two weeks. And today I worked for overtime and went back home with this. Why are they doing this to me?

Every no kill shelter or foundation I call is full. They tell me to take the animal in and rehome it, I already have other animals in the house and live with family that would not allow me to bring more animals in. The shelters say they’ll get back to me, and none of them do. At this point would it not be a mercy to take these strays to kill shelters and have them humanely euthanized instead of dying from starvation, illness, cars, etc.? I don’t know what to do, if anybody has any advice on how to help the animals I see wether that’s organizations I can call, people who would be willing to take these animals, or anything else please let me know.

Hi everyone! Im 21F and I just moved to Chicago a little over two months ago. What is your best advice on meeting new people, and making friends? I feel almost lonely just doing my same routine everyday with no communication with people my age. It’s hard to try to make friends at my work since everyone is older than me (mid 30’s), so I just feel stuck on how to get out there and connect with others. Any advice?

Ok so,
I’m 84 weeks sober and building my life into something I’m actually proud of and into something I choose and not just let happen. Obviously I have a past and it’s not pretty. I promised myself I would be more social but instead I just kinda buried myself in work and made excuses why I couldn’t meet people.

My biggest hurdle is my teeth, they really took the brunt force of my years of not giving a shit. But it’s like I know I’m not ugly and I’m funny, I’m fun to be around. I love music, guitars, machines, and anything that gives me goosebumps. But I just can’t push myself to get out there, because I feel like everyone will judge me as soon as they see my teeth and I mention the word addiction. And I mean I’m getting them fixed but that to is a slow process. I know I need to bring stuff to the table in any kind of relationship but I dont want to wait until I have better looking teeth just to make friends or be happier.

Am I just being dramatic or are these genuine concerns. I couldn’t really find the same topic anywhere. I’m on the west side if that matters any. Thanks for reading.

I’ve been in Chicago for almost 2 years now and I’m in a commuter school, which makes hanging out with people I’m around a little difficult. It doesn’t help that I didn’t put too much effort beyond the first group of people I met but they don’t really care about exploring beyond our usual hangout activities.

I live in the Lydian which is a 24 story building in the IMD. It’s only 3–4 years old and the cheapest studio goes for about $2,200.

I moved in a month ago and the elevators have been broken almost the entire time. Only one out of 3 works for the whole building, with 5–10 minute waits. It’s gotten worse over the past week and we’ve had repeated outages where every elevator is down at once and I’ve had to climb 20 flights to get to my unit. I don’t know how are the disabled and elderly coping with this situation.

Management hasn’t responded to any emails by tenants. What would be the next step to escalate this? Are there any laws about this?

I (47f) have unfortunately lost my job so I'm now Medicaid-eligible. I have already selected a PCP here in Rogers Park (this PCP takes all the Medicaid plans). I am trying to figure out which plan to sign up for. I have looked at the HFS website, but I'm not finding it very helpful. I live in Rogers Park (60626, near Jarvis Square).Here is what I'm optimizing:

--I will need a pap smear, a colonoscopy, a dental cleaning, and a mammogram. I don't really care where these happen (I don't have a "preferred hospital") but I would prefer not to spend hours and hours on transit to do all of this stuff--I don't have a car.

--I would like to have access to therapy (I am struggling with depression related to the loss of my job/career).

--Other than these things, I am generally healthy.

Which plan would you recommend? I have never been unemployed before, so I'm new to this. Basically it looks like CountyCare has a bunch of incentives for preventative health stuff/credits for glasses and stuff, but maybe all of the appointments will be at Stroger (and thus inconvenient?). A important document under my name was approved by USCIS, and the card was mailed on May 20, 2026. USPS tracking shows it as Delivered, but I never actually received it.

I’ve already:
- Filed a non-delivery request with USCIS, but they denied it because USPS shows the package as delivered and not returned.
- Opened an investigation with USPS with a Missing Mail
Claim.
-Confirmed with my apartment management that they never received the package and that it wasn’t turned in by any residents.

Recently, I had a friend visit the Cardiss Collins USPS location on my behalf as I’m not currently in the country. They looked into it and told my friend that the package was delivered to the apartment building on the 14th floor(my apartment floor). They also said that they aren’t even the direct courier and they went through someone else?? They also said they were not actually the branch that handled the delivery, even though the USPS tracking history shows that the package went through their ZIP code branch.

Following their advice, I called the USPS office that they said should have handled the delivery. That office then told me they have no record of the package and that they weren’t the ones who handled it either, and they directed me to yet another USPS location, a deadend because that number didn’t belong to any USPS.

So now I’m being bounced between multiple USPS offices, each saying another location is responsible, while tracking still shows the package as delivered.

I’m currently trying to obtain:
GPS delivery scan information, Carrier interview results, Written confirmation if USPS determines the item was misdelivered or lost.

My concern is that USCIS has already told me that because tracking says “Delivered,” I would need to file a new Form with another filing fee. I’m hoping that if USPS confirms it was misdelivered, I might have a stronger case to ask USCIS to reissue the card instead.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Were you able to get USPS to confirm a misdelivery in writing?

Is there a particular USPS office or department I should be asking for instead of getting redirected from one branch to another?

At this point, it feels like no USPS office wants to take ownership of the investigation, and I’m not sure how to get someone to actually review the GPS scan and carrier records. I’ve called up multiple USPS locations, even outside of Chicago just to get any lead or progress but nothing.

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated
