Late night grieving alone

Upvotes

Hello all, my brother passed some time ago and I was doing fine handling the pain but suddenly a huge wave of sadness and grief has overwhelmed me and my best friend just passed away this past weekend also. My brother was 25 and my best friend was 23. They both didn’t have any kids and I don’t either yet but it makes me reflect upon my self and question the meaning of life and why we exist. Is this all life is; just creating life so that it can die? It feels like life is just a endless repetitive loop of finding meaning despite how “good” life is. When I thought i was doing better.. it all hurts and hits me again.. what do you all do in these moments? Thanks!

Got a diagnosis and I'm trying to do funeral planning without spending a fortune

Upvotes

Got some hard news from my doctor and I'm trying to be practical. Part of that is funeral planning, getting things sorted so my family isn't blindsided or overcharged when the time comes. Hallandale.

I want it affordable. Cremation, something simple, nothing that leaves my family in debt. But doing this while also processing the diagnosis is a lot, and I don't know if I should be talking to a funeral home now or just documenting my wishes.

Anyone did funeral planning after a diagnosis, how did you approach it? What kept it affordable? And did you regret prepaying, or was leaving clear instructions enough? I want this handled and off my mind.

How do you get yourself to do small chores after work?

During the day, I’ll plan to start the laundry or clean up a little after work. When I get home, I usually shower first, but once I’m clean and in comfortable clothes, I feel completely done for the day. Sometimes even showering seems to use up the little energy I had left.

Then I sit down and check my phone for a few minutes, and suddenly much more time has passed than I expected.

I’m not trying to have a super productive evening. I just want to get one small chore done before I fully settle in. Do you do chores before showering, or is there another routine that helps you get started?

Been searching but absolutely lost and just not happy.

Hi, M31 and just as its mentioned on the title everything in life rifht now feels like a routine and forced. I am a dad to a 3 month old so theres absolutely no way I will quit, I will go through everything to provide for my family regardless of how I feel. But what I’m asking for with this post is some advice/mentorship/roads to help with my playing field. I been in and out of college since 2013 and finally projected to graduate by the end of this year 2025 with a bachelors in Exercise Science. I originally enrolled in this pathway to pursue a career in Physical Therapy but that passion is no longer in me anymore. I know of every and almost all job opportunities in this field (personally i will be seeking into medical device sales). I dont even want to pursue a career in medical device sales but I figure its the best job setting befitting.
Now of course after high school I was working while pursuing my degree which was retail cellphone and later going up the ladder to store manager managing up to 2 stores during my 6 year tenure in that field. Now i am currently a store manager at small a dine in/carry out restaurant. The pay is enough to get by(no saving just living check to check…) and I dont want to look back at this job upon graduation. I ABSOLUTELY HATE my current job at the restaurant.
Where do you believe I can translate my job skills in a new career field with or without considering my degree in exercise science. As mentioned I dont want to work in at gym/training/hospital.
Thank you

Looking for 15 adults who know who they want to become—but struggle with what to do each day

I’m looking for 15 people between the ages of 25 and 45 to help me test a personalized self-improvement framework I’ve been building.
It’s for people who have a general idea of who they want to become—healthier, more confident, more organized, further along in their career, or just more put-together—but feel overwhelmed trying to figure out what to work on first.
You might know where you want to end up, but day-to-day life gets in the way. There’s endless advice, too many possible starting points, and a lot of pressure to make the “right” choice. Eventually, figuring out what to do becomes its own obstacle.
The process starts with a personal assessment about your goals, routines, priorities, energy, time, budget, and the areas where you feel most stuck. Some questions are personal, but you choose what you’re comfortable sharing, and nothing will be posted publicly.
From there, I’ll create a personalized assessment for you and guide you through a completely free seven-day trial. Each day, the goal is simple: identify one realistic, useful action that moves you forward without making your life feel more overwhelming.
You’ll get:
• A personalized assessment you can keep
• A clearer understanding of what may be keeping you stuck
• A seven-day roadmap built around your actual life and priorities
• Direct guidance and support throughout the week
There’s nothing to buy. In exchange, I’m asking participants to complete a quick daily check-in and give me honest feedback at the end—what helped, what felt off, what was overwhelming, and what was missing.
This is open to adults of any gender, ages 25–45. I’m especially interested in hearing from people who feel stuck between who they are today and who they thought they would have become by now.
Comment below or send me a DM if you’re interested, and I’ll share the next steps privately.

Hesitant to Meet New Men

Late 30's female, within "median" retirement savings for age, no debt, close to buying a decent pre-owned SUV. I have a full-time job I like, but don't make a ton of money. I moved back in with my mom during / after my divorce and I'm embarrassed and worried that I will be judged for it.

I was married to what I thought was a good man. However, he returned to some bad habits he had that he led me to believe he had turned from -- including vaping, smoking, drinking -- one time way too much, frequently verbally abusive / temper out bursts, paranoia, and eventually cheating on me with another woman.

When I was married, my then husband and I were going to save money and buy a house together after we had paid off all our debt. We paid off the debt and didn't get to the point of saving for a house. We didn't have much money, so I didn't leave the divorce with too much.

I am hesitant to go out and meet new friends or new men because I'm worried about what people will think. I do not have my own apartment or house. At the same time, with how expensive everything is I have a difficult time justifying spending so much of my paycheck for just the basics-- just to say "yes, I'm independent." It will take me quite a while to save up for a place of my own. I wish I had the money now to buy a decent condo / house so I wouldn't feel the need to feel unworthy when talking to others.

As a man looking for a serious relationship or an adult looking for new friends -- what would you think of a person in my situation?

Should I give up on finding love?

I am a 28F. I used to genuinely enjoy being single. I didn't start dating until last October, when I knew I'd be leaving my country for Australia this October. I think I only started dating because I knew I was leaving anyway, so I felt free to do things I probably wouldn't have done otherwise. I've only had casual relationships here.

But I'll be in Australia for at least three years, and what I really want now is a long-term relationship. Casual dating is emotionally draining for me. I enjoy getting to know people, but constantly starting over, getting attached, and then saying goodbye is exhausting.

What worries me is whether I'll still be attractive in a Western country as an Asian woman. I've only dated foreigners in my own country, so it's not that I'm unfamiliar with dating across cultures. I don't date the men from my country is because I don't share the same values with them (99% of them support the government or don't give a fxxk about politics). I'm just afraid the dating dynamics will be completely different once I'm the foreigner.

Sometimes I feel like giving up altogether because finding a genuine, sincere connection seems so difficult. I'll be on a Working Holiday visa, which means my situation isn't very stable. I imagine a lot of people would hesitate to build a serious relationship with someone who's on a temporary visa, even though I'm certain I never want to move back to my home country.

On top of that, I don't want children. I know that already narrows my dating pool, especially as I get older.

I also wonder if turning 30 is making me feel this pressure. It feels like there are fewer compatible people available, and many of the "good ones" are already in relationships. But at the same time, if I stop trying, my chances become even smaller.

The thing is, I don't want a relationship just because I'm lonely. I'd rather stay single than settle. What I want is someone I genuinely click with, someone who shares my values, my vision for the future, and wants to build a deep, lasting connection together.

The Working Holiday visa makes things even more complicated because I can't work for the same employer for more than six months, so I'll probably have to move around quite a bit. That doesn't exactly make dating or building a stable relationship any easier.

So now I'm wondering: should I just accept that a serious relationship probably isn't realistic during these next few years and stick to casual dating? At least then I could enjoy meeting attractive people without expecting anything long-term.

Or should I keep looking for something real, even if the odds seem stacked against me?

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, moving abroad on a temporary visa but hoping to find a genuine long-term relationship? I'd really love to hear your experiences.

I feel like ill be living at home forever

Im a 23 year old who graduated with a bad degree and who is stuck in a minimum wage gas station right now. I feel like im falling behind in life even though ive tried hard to better my life for the past year. I did get a new job in sales that paid a little more for a month but it was a terrible place to work that set me up to fail so i went back to the gas station.

I know there is that proverb to not compare yourself with other but like at some point you kinda have to right? Like an able bodied, grown adult should have using the toilet and tieing their shoes down. I feel like me not being financially independant or on my way to it are like that, a hurdle i should have crossed by now and each year i dont the more of a loser i become. If it were not for my parents id be homeless and probablly dead now in all honesty. I do help them when they need it and mow the grass for them weekly but like they could literally ruin my life and condem me to death via homelessness if they wanted and there is nothing i id be able to do.

Idk what im looking for but i just feel really helpless and stuck in life. I literally dont think about my distant future at all since i cant imagine one for myself. Every day i keep applying and applying to jobs as my hope get less and less.

i think i need a reality check or advice ?

i recently turned 21 and i couldn’t be more lost. i have a full time job i make decent money (15 hourly) but im still working on trying to get my license. i just feel so lost , i have no idea how to adult , everything feels impossible and scary , no matter how much i save i feel like it’s never enough. i want to go to college but i cant afford it , its a really big dream of mine , im kind of doing it my work offers a program for certain majors and im doing a prep course before my general ed.

i have a possible driving session soon i use a driving school that offers adult courses so i feel like im doing something right there , what im most stumped on is planning for the future and trying to make my dream of going to college a real thing , the loop of work and school is eating at me.

i guess i just don’t know what to do ? like i dont know how to plan or hold onto hope , i feel like life is throwing setbacks at me every day. i understand that it could be a case of “that’s just life” but im not sure , i feel absolutely miserable.

any advice would be so awesome : ) thank you
