πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION What are my chances for mathematics at these universities

β€’ Upvotes

I wanted to ask what my chances at maths offers from Imperial, UCL, Warwick, Bristol and Birmingham are with my current standings (home, non-contextual): {Assume I’m a reapplying student with three A* achieved already in Maths,FM, Econ and an A in EPQ and a 7.0 in the TMUA.} I achieved 988887765 in my GCSE’s: 9 in chem, 8s in bio, maths, English lit and physics, 7s in English language and Computer Science, a 6 in History and a 5 in French. Didn’t do GCSE further maths.

πŸ‘‹ I AM OFFERING HELP Offering tutoring for Biology SNAB and AQA - Neuro Warwick student.

Hello guys, I’m a 2nd year entering 3rd at Warwick for Neuroscience. I offer A level Biology tutoring primarily for Edexcel SNAB and AQA and have made great progress with my previous students. I charge 20 an hour and start with basics and work upwards with year 12s. If this interest you let me know. I finished my year with A* and highest mark when I was previously at a C/ D across all exams in year 12 so I understand struggle and offer that relatability. DM me here and I’ll give you my email and we can schedule a free one hour consultation for goals and grades and keeping things realistic.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Is Fast Tracking BTEC Courses Possible?

Is it possible to fast track a Pearson BTEC Business course? I’ve been thinking for a while about switching from A Levels to a BTEC next year, depending on my A Level results and whether fast tracking is an option. I’ve done the first year (AS) of A Level Business, so I’m hoping that might give me somewhat of an advantage :’)

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Booking with Access Arrangements for TMUA

I'm wondering if anyone is in a similar situation to me. I've been approved for access arrangements for me to be in a separate room for TMUA (alongside some other stuff).

In the email I received after being approved (which I got on the 10th July), it said I'd need to select my test and press apply now but then I'd need to wait for a call from Pearson Customer Services who will book the test over the phone.

I pressed apply now and when I go through to pearsons dashboard where I assume everyone else can book it just says you can't book this on the web. I got in touch with Pearson and they said to just wait for a call after I told them everything but I'm wondering if I've done it right and am waiting for a call cos it's nearly been three days (which is the timeline they set out) and I haven't had a call and I don't want to be put in a test center really far away because they didn't call me.

Anyone else in a similar situation and heard anything?

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS LSE Economics and Maths

I'm a year 12 student (going into year 13) and I was thinking of applying to LSE economics and maths instead of pure economics. I have 3 A*s/A stars predicted in Maths, Economics and Chemistry and an A in Further Maths. My GCSEs, although not great (9999888775) were the best in my school's cohort and I meet the mandatory 6 in Maths and English language (9s in both). My question is, how much harder is it to get into Maths and economics than just pure economics with an A in Further maths or should I just stick with applying to pure economics?

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS top universities that accept resit for maths?

in a weird situation but basically i messed up last math paper and it has me stressing, and a* is looking 50/50. my other subjects are fm and compsci and i think i got A* and A*/A in them respectivley. I am also prepping for TMUA again i sat last year and did pretty well. Is there a chance i will be accepted into top unis such as oxbridge, imperial, etc if i resit maths + i can replicate a high tmua score?
ideally i need a*/a*/a with a*s in maths and fm but the a* in math is kinda shaky. I really dont want to resit just the thought of doing a levels again is killing me and it is quite difficult to enjoy my summer :/

on a side note - I have looked at LSE's financial math and stats course which requires A*AA with an A* in math but would an A* in fm suffice?

any advice/help would be much appreciated.

edit: I am applying for maths

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS Which top universities accept resits?

I have an offer from LSE right now, but I’m scared that I’ve missed my offer and I’ll have to resit one of my a levels.

However, I really want to get into a top career in corporate, and I really want to go to a target university (with a degree in/ related to Econ). Problem is that LSE and Oxbridge don’t accept resits if you don’t have extenuating circumstances. I want to know if any other top universities will accept if I resit 😭

πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION You don’t have to do a levels

A levels are a choice. You should only really do them, if you know that you’ll genuinely revise. If not youll end up regretting everything and when results day comes, you will see that you just about passed or failed your subjects.

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS Is it worth applying to oxbridge next year with my stats?

I'm kinda considering a gap year because I've decided I don't really want to settle for less than the best without trying (For maths/physics), is it worth it?

GCSEs: 888775555 (8s are in maths and combined science). I get the average GCSE's are much higher and this is my main concern with applying and why I think it's risky

A level's: A*A*A (Maths Physics Chemistry), I know I need further maths to apply for maths, but I'd be taking it in a gap year (I've already self studied the whole spec and getting A* in past papers so its looking good)

As for supercurriculars I have a few under my belt but nothing like gold IMOs or anything like that so i'm not quite sure, but in a gap year i can fix that

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS torn between student bank accounts

hi, starting uni in september and decided its probably time to think about what bank i want to go with, i'm going to a long distance uni regardless of which choice i end up with so the railcard with santander is appealing to me, but i'm only really going to be saving Β£80 + however much the 1 year railcard will be when i'm starting my 4th year so is that really worthwhile?? nationwide is also appealing to me but idk im just really torn between everything

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Is art a good subject to pick?

Hi yall, stressed-out former year 11 here

GCSE Results day is coming up, and I’ve still not picked my third A level. I wanted to do politics, a language, and either art or economics. Due to my timetable constraints, I can’t pick 4. I’m aiming to get into oxbridge universities, or perhaps prestigious universities abroad, but I’m worried art isn’t academic enough to be a viable option if I wanted to study an academic course at university.

basically, is art a worthwhile A-level?

and if so, how much volunteering/ leadership roles should I expect to have to do on the side?
