A levels are a choice. You should only really do them, if you know that you’ll genuinely revise. If not youll end up regretting everything and when results day comes, you will see that you just about passed or failed your subjects.

I posted about this on the UKUni subreddit and thought people on here might be going through the same thing because I want answers! I’m 19 and on a gap year so had to go to about 6 pharmacies before finding one that would give it to me. Did it. It was a tiny scratch like all vaccines, thought I’d feel a bit tired or have a headache, instead my arm has been HURTING every single time I move. It’s not like a tiny ache either, it’s the sort of pain that makes me feel physically ill. Is anyone else going through this? I feel slightly crazy but doing anything today has been torture because my arm hurts so bad when I move any other part of my body. If this is normal for this vaccine, how long did it last?

Edited to say that I don’t regret getting it and everyone should get it because a little pain now is so much better than the horrors of meningitis!

I’m 18 and I failed Yr12 two times already and I’m thinking of doing it again for the third time.

My first attempt at Yr12 went very badly because my mental health deteriorated severely and by the time it was March I knew had to retake. But everyone kept pushing me to continue the year even with my bad attendance and poor health, I dropped out at June because I couldn’t do my mocks since I only attended lessons for one subject - English Literature. I didn’t go to my other ones because I had no support compared to English.

I left sixth form and I was glad to because the environment was very suffocating and I had no friends there but the pastoral team were very supportive. They referred me to a programme over the summer and it helped then I started therapy.

My second attempt at Yr12 began really well despite applying to the new college the day before school started and picked my subject options on the spot at enrolment.

I tried avoiding mistakes from last year and remained focused on my education and taking care of myself. I had 94% attendance the first three months but everything went downhill as soon as therapy stopped and I started distracting myself. I lost focus on my A-levels, my attendance got lower because my mental health was affecting my day to day life and ability.

Without the therapy and support my mental health kept declining and I was not taking care of myself well enough, I had a breakdown in April and didn’t recover well from it. I stopped attending college consistently.

As a result, my place got withdrawn from the college and ever since then I have been lost and confused about my next steps. The college decision was right in a way I tried appealing and they did the procedural things required for safeguarding (one meeting with a parent, interventions which were 5-10 minute chats and offered counselling) and and they do have a strict policy on attendance.

I feel very upset with how they handled it because they didn’t warn me once they were doing that and throughout the whole year I was open about my struggles and in the end they blamed the withdrawal on it being best for my health and wellbeing.

I consistently got Bs and Cs for two of my subjects and I was not good at sociology at all it was either a B,D or U.

They kept saying my grades are great, I have potential to get an A by the end of the course but I need to get my attendance up and I tried to but they unenrolled me. When the appeal didn’t work they said it’s due to my age and it’s my second time doing Yr12 and they did intervene throughout the year.

They told me to go elsewhere to do my A-levels.

I feel so butthurt. It genuinely feels like a slap in the face and it is my fault, I’m feeling the consequences of it fully. I was proud of myself for still trying and for having a much better year compared to 24-25. I think I’m so upset because I tried so hard this year despite everything going on in my life and so many people in my year group who had lower attendance and lower grades than me still got to move onto Yr13.

I don’t want to start working because it would be hard to pivot to the career I want especially since I don’t have any further education qualifications. I wanted to go to university next year and study anthropology.

I was okay with retaking Yr12 again for the third time but I’m starting to think this isn’t right for me.

To be honest I have one more chance to beg to be in Yr13 and I actually do want to beg them because I just want to finish my A-levels.

(Privately taking it is not an option for me)

Does anyone have any advice for what next steps or what alternative options i could take?

Litr I keep seeing it on my feed and now apparently some people are being exposed for being racist and homophobic etc. cuz of the elections

This year maths seemed pretty brutal. And so did a lot of other exams. Looking online, there seems like quite a large contingent of people who are nervous that they won’t get into their firm. I understand this happens every year, but do a lot of people actually end up resitting? Because if you have an offer from Oxford, you see people online talking about how they might let you in if you miss a grade, or if your a couple marks off an explain they might allow you. But at the end of the day you realise it’s actually just unlikely. If you don’t get the grades, even by 1 mark, that’s just it. There isn’t any oh well you tried we will have you. So for people who don’t have an insurance, or don’t want to go to it, what choice do you even have other than resit?

My issue is I won’t even get into clearing anywhere. If I miss my A*AB offer at ucl and get AAB, there aren’t any good unis that offer AAB clearing so I’m stuffed. I can’t even do clearing

Currently in Y12 summer going into Y13. I've heard physics ocr a gets a lot harder and would appreciate any advice. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

idk man im scared I might not get into my sixth form, I know ive met my minimum requirements but its rlly competitive so you need a lot more points than the minimum to get in ( minimum is 52 in my best 8)

I'm kinda considering a gap year because I've decided I don't really want to settle for less than the best without trying (For maths/physics), is it worth it?

GCSEs: 888775555 (8s are in maths and combined science). I get the average GCSE's are much higher and this is my main concern with applying and why I think it's risky

A level's: A*A*A (Maths Physics Chemistry), I know I need further maths to apply for maths, but I'd be taking it in a gap year (I've already self studied the whole spec and getting A* in past papers so its looking good)

As for supercurriculars I have a few under my belt but nothing like gold IMOs or anything like that so i'm not quite sure, but in a gap year i can fix that

Incase you guys didn’t know (especially the guys) vinted ebay and such mainly vinted is super good for ties and stuff ties on the high street and shirts are like £10 on vinted you can get loads for that!!

I know it’s a well known site but for those who never used it save some money!!

Its been a month since i finished my A levels and i am struggling trying to find a job. Those who have managed to get a part time job, how many applications did it take you and how long?

I've currently applied to about 25 and received around 5 interviews but still no luck.

For those who've already been through this, what did you send your university on results day? Did you just send a ResultsPlus screenshot, or did you wait until your school gave you the official statement/transcript? Im an international applicant from UAE applying to a European University and they've asked me to share my results, so if anyone has gone through this process pls lmk, how did u send. Was it a statement of provision or a simple screenshot or what.

Also, I got my IGCSE official transcript around September/October. Was it the same for your A Levels, or did you receive the official results/transcript earlier?

hi, starting uni in september and decided its probably time to think about what bank i want to go with, i'm going to a long distance uni regardless of which choice i end up with so the railcard with santander is appealing to me, but i'm only really going to be saving £80 + however much the 1 year railcard will be when i'm starting my 4th year so is that really worthwhile?? nationwide is also appealing to me but idk im just really torn between everything

I wanted to ask what my chances at maths offers from Imperial, UCL, Warwick, Bristol and Birmingham are with my current standings (home, non-contextual): {Assume I’m a reapplying student with three A* achieved already in Maths,FM, Econ and an A in EPQ and a 7.0 in the TMUA.} I achieved 988887765 in my GCSE’s: 9 in chem, 8s in bio,maths, English lit and physics, 7s in English language and Computer Science, a 6 in History and a 5 in French. Didn’t do GCSE further maths.

Is it possible to fast track a Pearson BTEC Business course? I’ve been thinking for a while about switching from A Levels to a BTEC next year, depending on my A Level results and whether fast tracking is an option. I’ve done the first year (AS) of A Level Business, so I’m hoping that might give me somewhat of an advantage :’)

I'm a year 12 student (going into year 13) and I was thinking of applying to LSE economics and maths instead of pure economics. I have 3 A*s/A stars predicted in Maths, Economics and Chemistry and an A in Further Maths. My GCSEs, although not great (9999888775) were the best in my school's cohort and I meet the mandatory 6 in Maths and English language (9s in both). My question is, how much harder is it to get into Maths and economics than just pure economics with an A in Further maths or should I just stick with applying to pure economics?

in a weird situation but basically i messed up last math paper and it has me stressing, and a* is looking 50/50. my other subjects are fm and compsci and i think i got A* and A*/A in them respectivley. I am also prepping for TMUA again i sat last year and did pretty well. Is there a chance i will be accepted into top unis such as oxbridge, imperial, etc if i resit maths + i can replicate a high tmua score?
ideally i need a*/a*/a with a*s in maths and fm but the a* in math is kinda shaky. I really dont want to resit just the thought of doing a levels again is killing me and it is quite difficult to enjoy my summer :/

on a side note - I have looked at LSE's financial math and stats course which requires A*AA with an A* in math but would an A* in fm suffice?

any advice/help would be much appreciated.
