52cm Rivendell Clem Smith Jr L

I found this bike at my local nonprofit shop 6 months ago hidden in the back - it had been donated. Great color. I paid a wink and a smile for it and promptly built it up as a dad bike. The long headtube length makes the child seat a lot more comfortable than on my Jamis Diablo Clydesdale build, which we were riding previously. I miss the sketchiness of shorter wheelbases sometimes, but it’s a killer do it all as is.

Deore 9spd RD,40/28 double up front

@bluelug Oury II grips
Paul Levers
Microshift thumbies
@ultradynamico Rose Robusto
@bagsxbird saddlebag on the @carradicebags Bagman
2x big waxed canvas feed bags from @beeswaxneedleworks

Great bike. Big fan.

Climbed over 4,000 feet on my stumpy

In total I climbed just under 4600” and did about 25 miles. Started in the old west side and rode through Garden of the Gods, all the way up rampart to the reservoir, and then met my partner at a campsite looking right at pikes peak. We moved away two years ago and were just here visiting friends and family for the week. I always wanted to do this ride growing up but never got around to it, so this felt like the perfect time to finally do it. I was severely under biked for quite a few parts of it but I made it up in the end, the worst part was honestly the decent down into pike national forest. The sand and washboards were brutal, especially after that much climbing. There were a few areas I had to hike a bike as my tires were a bit too slick for some of the bigger rocks and sandy areas. Overall I’m really stoked on finishing this ride, a long time goal finally completed!

Abandoned Kona Rove restoration for less than £100...

I found this Kona Rove abandoned with a bunch of mattresses a while back and set myself the challenge of restoring it for less than £100. I've finally finished. It was my first time spraying a bike so there's definitely room for improvement, but overall I'm pretty happy with the end result. I used Spray.bike Memphis with cobweb effect and transparent finish.

New BB - £16

Chain - £13

Spray paint - £40

Saddle - parts bin

Cables & housing - already had

Tyres - £22

Decals £5

Handlebar tape - £2

Pedals - £13

Stem bolts - £6

Total - £127

A little bit over budget but what's £27 between friends?

Old Fisher at my local resale store for $50. Deore XT groupset in really nice condition. Only thing keeping me from buying it is that it’s missing the back wheel. Tell me to buy it or not.

Front rack under $40

Haven’t tested in the field yet (did a loaded rip around the block), but this thing seems sturdy. They’re all over the place on eBay from anywhere around $40 up to ~$90. $40 is pretty good for a strut-mounted rack from what I can tell.

Standard low quality hardware that may be best to replace at some point - it does come with brackets for the fork legs if your bike lacks the bosses. If interested, I recommend seeking one out around $40 and put it on your watch list - you’ll probably get an “offer” from the seller to purchase at a discount. I picked this one up for $37 shipped (and it arrived in 2 days).

Ignore the rear light, fixed it now! Just picked this up and added the Thompson seat post, Thompson stem and simworks to smile bars!

Have a silver wheeler and silver crankset on the way! + GRX400 derailleur and a new casettte!

Can’t wait to take this thing touring this fall.

3x7, chunky tyres, Brooks B17, bmx stem, moto bars, garish yellow bottle cages.

Found the frame in a (rare) size large with Deore LX shifters, front and rear mechs and brakes, rides like a dream!

Just picked up this bad boy. What do you think it should become?

It rides way better than it should and I love a lugged steel frame. The rear tube is installed weirdly which is why the valve stem is not straight, but itll get me home. The groupset is an old shimano alivio with grip shifters, but they are surprisingly good too.

What do you think? Deck it out with some modern drivetrains parts, or just service it and ride it until something breaks? I'm also not too sure on the color scheme, but it looks crazy with the two tone pink/purple. Just not sure if it fits me.

My beloved abomination (WIP)

Well, a long time ago I found a completely wasted early 80s Schauff ATB with an old Exage "Downhill" Groupset.

Finally found some time to work on this project.

Gonna be my "it's fucking cool and comfy, but won't get stolen immediately"- Bike for shopping, Bad weather or evenings at the bar.

Got some 2nd hand wheels, equipped it with some spare parts (magura hs11, Ritchey MTB Bars, old front rack, old Crankset) and bought a new Fork and ltwoo R5 Groupset.

Rides pretty nice, I love the chrome/purple/black - I m looking forward to further modifications

Ozark Trail Vibe 27.5. Spent the last few weeks swapping the freewheel for the wide range Falcon 8 speed, adding Box shifter and derailleur, RockBros seat pedals and grips, street tires and 120mm bars, and finally the rigid fork. The fork was a game changer. Shed 4.5 pounds with the swap. Pretty happy right now. Still want to tear it apart for fresh paint but that can wait til later this fall. I just want to put miles on it.

Building up a commuter bike for a left-handed coworker and feel very proud of the under-the-bar friction shifter / bell combo.

Shimmed a stem-mounted Suntour Power Ratchet to go on the handlebars.

All hail RD-M310 and BR-CT91 the frugal mechanic’s friends.

28C Tyres at 100+PSI really let you get on with things. I regularly ride this thing down stair sets and never have to worry about a burst haha. A very uncommon adventure bike.

I trash-picked this frame years ago. No idea what it is. Now it’s a fun go-fast single speed. I have a deep enough parts bin(s) that I realized this could be a whole-ass bike. Here it is. More details at my blog here.

Finally finished putting this awesome bike together. I snagged the steel frame off marketplace and then took a lot of inspiration from online. Shimano Cues 1x drivetrain, 42t chainring, 11-50 cassette, Billy Bonkers tires, ProMax gold brakes, and some bars from Banta Bikes on the gram.

The bike rides like a dream and perfect for the trails around me!

N00B question about upgrading tires

Post image
11 Upvotes

I apologize for the totally n00b question, but I've got a 1995 Trek 820 that has it's original tires on it. I'd like to upgrade to a set of GravelKing SK's (https://www.panaracerusa.com/products/2025-gravelking-sk-limited-edition-folding-tire?variant=46227599917291) but I'm unsure of tube/no tube and if they are compatible.

I believe my existing stock Trek tires have a tube inside. Could someone direct me to what would be a good tube to install if I pick up these GravelKings?

Thank in advance. Photo for bike tax.

Was told to this post this bike here from the biking subreddit. Picked this up from my local bike shop about a week ago. Dont know the history behind it nor the brand. Super pretty though and rides well!! Best purchase ever!! Let me know what i should add. Was thinking of adding a rear rack and adding some bags to the side that has a spare tire, tubes and basic tools along with a med kit.
