This is listed for $40. It's way too big for me, but I feel like $40 is a great price for a funky, 88 Rockhopper. What do you think, should I get it?

Found this on FB marketplace. North Country ATB 1800, any info on this? I have lightly googled it, and found no accurate info on it. The seller posted it as 70CAD. Any info would be appreciated.

I picked up this worse for wear Vintage Falcon Diamondback, Ernie Clements, Made in England I believe around 1970/1980s. Using some donor parts I’ve got it spruced up pretty nicely ready to zip around while retaining some of the classic touch - like the campagnolo friction shifters.

Pics 1-3: At the top of an overlook that used to also have a small American Revolution war museum. It’s unfortunate to see the outdoor exhibits fall into disrepair but the view is still nice.

Pics 4-5: I cleared this tangled mess of vines and wood from a deadfall I reported in a prior ride. https://www.reddit.com/user/NatureLady10/comments/1uw562m/fallen_tree_deer_and_free_chocolate/ This time, I brought my saw. The main log was too thick to hand saw but I was able to cut the thinner shard intruding across the trail so it is passable now (4 is before, 5 is the after).

Pics 6-7: Tasty but invasive wineberries. I’ll bring a container the next time I pass through so I can harvest these before the deer eat them.

Picked up this villiger kiowa mountain arrow yesterday. Apparently an 18" frame.

I am around 174cm / 5ft 8.50 in. Do you think it fits okay?

The bike feels pretty good. I'm definitely sitting more forward than I would like, but I know this is usually the case with 90s mtb.

I feel like I would like the handlebars a little higher, and maybe some sweep. Something like the velo orange quill stem + VO granola / tourist bars. Would that get me where I want to be?

I'm building up an old marin frame. I bought a surly troll 26" fork on eBay but it looks massive and has loads of clearance over the tire. Have I been sold the wrong size of fork or is this just how it looks?

(The bars are stacked so high because I haven't got round to cutting the steerer tube yet)

The closest thing I could find are the Sugino XD cranks but they are clearly labelled as RD2s. Also, the chainring that it came with has no writing except for '48' which I'm guessing is the number of teeth, and it doesn't fit well on the crank, with some of it overlapping or sticking out. Does anyone have any idea what these are?

Got this gt for $70 from the original owner who bought it new. I’ve been debating building my dream full restomod or just using that money to get a new or used surly.

I’d like to keep the build under $1000. $600-$700 preferably. Basically new everything, wheels, tires, 1x, saddle, drop bars and everything else required of that. If I bought a surly I’d put $1400 towards it max. Really like midnight special preamble and grappler

should I just buy a new/ slightly used surly. the new bike would be more expensive but save me a lot of hassle as well. This will be used 80% for commuting in SF and 20% for very light gravel riding like a trail through ggp.

Although I've never had a flat (riding tubes), I feel irresponsible riding w/o a tube, pump, and multi tool. I threw on a saddle bag that fits just that, but don't love the look and the fact I can't even fit in one extra thing (snack, wallet, etc).

Looking for inspo on a frame bag specifically on a GT and planning to sew my own. What do you like about yours? What would you add/change?

I picked up a trek 830 frame with a 1 1/8 head tube and I didn’t realize my existing fork is a 1 inch fork.

has anyone used shims or headset reducers to make this work for them? Or should I buy a new fork? Hoping to not have to do that but I’m willing to if it’s my only option.

Alright homies, I’m asking for help here.

The setup: I have a Ross 292S frame from 1987(?) that I’m rebuilding. The plan is to use down-tube cable-stops. I have bought everything already, and the lady for whom I’m building the bike is not going to like down tube shifters. So the cable stops are a must.

The issue: the frame has these down-tube braze-on shift-bosses with the strange lifted bit around the tube connection bit. This does not gel with the cable stops I have (SM-CS50).

I’ve built a lot of old bikes, and honestly it’s the first time I’ve run into this problem? Or maybe just the first time it’s been a problem because I’m using cable stops?

I’m tired: honestly I have been trying to figure out the wording, the naming, the actual parts and pieces of what I’ve got and what I need but I’ve been looking (half-assed googling) for the better half of a day now and I just keep getting different answers and nothing seems right. Some call this a Flat-Backed Boss, others call it a Shimano ‘A’ braze-on?

I’m positive that this answer is already out there, but I can’t seem to find it because I don’t think I’m getting the name of this kind of braze-on shift-boss correct?

TLDR: what cable stops will fit this funky downtube boss?

Gifted to me from a buddy’s in-laws garage cleaning. Apparently FIL bought new. Went otb on his first outing and parked it for 24 years.

Slapped some cheap Amazon bars on it for now. Trying them out. Might change the stem and bar combo after I get some time with it and decide if I need wider. Had a Brooks laying around, ordered some Ikons and new pedals.

Quick service but everything was still in new condition besides tires and tubes.

Should make for a decent slow bike, greenway cruiser, taco dinner transportation.

I'm 5'11 and it feels like a medium sized frame. Would love to keep original slingshot stem but if a longer one would make better sense I might consider changing it. Looking for any expert suggestions on fit. Would mostly be a city commuter

Why buy it for $35 when you could build it for $25 and 5 hours of time 🤣🤣. The full video is not out yet, but it will be in a couple days once I put some miles on the "Bicentennial Man" bike. Hope you guys enjoy! I thought it was pretty clever. Very rebuildable with the bronze bushings. This thing should pretty much last a lifetime except for the rubber bushings. The ones I got from Ace are a tad too soft, I wind up using a shock absorber bushing from an old car. The shock absorber bushings are available brand new from O'Reilly's for about $1.50 a piece.

Just got my hands on this vintage folding bike, and it ticks a lot of boxes for my xbiking brain:

I’d like to find out the manufacturing year of this bike and get some recommendations on how to fit 18” Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tires. (As far as I know, that’s another prerequisite for turning it into a proper xbike.)

First time putting drop bars on a bike and took it out for it's inaugural ride! Very green to this, so any tips/tricks for future tweaks are appreciated!

Everything works and it is ready to ride. It has grip shifters and shimano parts but it just says Shimano A on the derailleur. I don’t know much about bikes other than the frame size does fit from what I’ve looked at online.

Comes along with a hand pump, bike lock, front and back tubes, an helmet and 3 small bags.
