Discussion Don't lock your XP in TW...

And then invite people to continue queuing with you. I don't know if people don't know this or it's new players doing this. But if you do this, you're griefing people (hopefully unintentionally). The whole main reason people do TW is level characters. If you lock XP and have a good run and want to go agane with that group and your XP is locked, then their XP will also be very limited.

I got invited twice today by people I was in TW, to continue and both times when they queued us up, I got the message that XP would limited to level 70. Meaning whoever queued us had locked their XP at 70.

Discussion 12 hours without being able to play.

Yesterday, around 12:00 AM, I got disconnected. At first, I didn't think much of it, but after spending about 40 minutes trying to log back in, I realized the problem wasn't on my end.

I started checking forums and talking to other players I know, and they were experiencing the exact same issue.

It's incredibly disrespectful to the player base that 12 hours have passed and nothing has been done or communicated about it.

Discussion Classic players being insane is normal to blizzard

I don't know why the constant racism/homophobia/sexism is just normal and allowed by Blizzard especially in Classic is where I see it. I came across this video and like it triggers me because when I played SoD/Classic it was just filled with these type of people. These people harassing multiple streamers. Kind of turned me off to classic as a whole.

Question Wanting to play WOW, confused about what Midnight is

Hello, I am interested in playing WOW, but I am kinda confused about something. When I go to the battle.net store I see the WOW monthly subscription which is what I was already aware of, but I also see WOW Midnight which is a one time purchase. I read the product details and couldn’t figure out its relation to WOW. Do I need to buy both to play WOW, or do I just need the monthly subscription? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just got confused and figured I’d ask before I purchased anything as to not spend any money I don’t have to. Thanks for reading and have a good day!

Discussion 18 years old and looking to play WOW: is it even worth trying?

I'm 18, and have grown up on a lot of RPG and FPS games, but my all time favorites are BOTW, Elden Ring, and Skyrim (and Minecraft but that's in its own realm).

Naturally, (or maybe not seeing as nobody my age seems to be as intrigued by WOW as I am) I have for a long time been wanting to play this game, I always have seen it as this holy grail of video games, but I feel like I wont have the experience with it that I am hoping for, so I thought I might as well ask.

Before I ask any questions though, I wanna say that I have tried a couple of MMO's (including classic WOW about a year ago, got to level 26-27) such as Albion online, and a bit of OSRS. What I'm looking for is a game where I can focus on improving my character or getting really rich. I love long grinds for some reason as well. The only problem it seems when it comes to MMOs is the fact that everybody I know in game is 10-30 years older than me. Don't get me wrong, they have always been really chill, and nobody has ever been mean, but I find it hard to relate to people older than me, and it feels sort of isolating.

My main question is; do Gen Z guilds even exist, or are all the secret Gen Z players hiding in different guilds, or maybe just playing with family? It would be nice to play with people my age, as when it comes to humor I can relate in that sense. I could dive further into the details of why I want to play with people my age but you get the idea.

I was a part of a guild when I played Albion, and the dudes I played with where between age 25-50 and I was like 16 at the time, so I didn't last very long as I didn't feel comfortable within the group dynamic, and ended up quitting the game.

My second question is; what version of WOW should I play? I've tried classic, mainly because I hate the idea of everyone having the ability to cover their hard earned gear with cosmetics (I think I heard this somewhere), and retail in general just sounds really overwhelming. I imagine retail being sorta like this vast futuristic city, but at foundation is an ancient roman city (sorta like Coruscant from Star Wars), and you'll have to really dig to find anything old (if that makes sense), everything on top being made to hide what is underneath, rather than incorporating it. The idea of 21 years of content also is overwhelming. I've seen ads about the housing system and that seems really cool though, I'm creative so I like building houses and shit, the hideout system in POE2 was fire.

I understand that a core fundamental of the game is group content, especially in the endgame, so I am not looking to be solo necessarily, it sounds kind of lonely to be solo in this grand MMO.

Thanks for answering my questions, and if you guys have any I'll definitely answer.

Discussion I would much prefer FFXIVs Relic Weapons as content over the kind of stuff we get in current patches

EDIT: I see a lot of comments hung up on the power of artifacts and the grind it took. I want to be clear I am more interested in the cosmetic side of things, the power of it being something more akin to what Omnium Folio is now, and the grind to be more in line with what our typical grinds are today in retail, not legion. I just want a thing to chase during mid patches

It’s no secret that one of the most beloved things in WoW are the Legion Artifacts. Class thematic weapons with multiple models and tints, some taking quite a grind to get (or at least they used to) In FFXIV, which I periodically play here and there, every class gets this every expansion. It’s spread out over patches, and typically takes a good grind per class to get, with some steps being quicker on alts.

In WoW, we often get events, systems, and zones that are temporary and all but abandoned when the next patch comes around. Sure it gives us something to do, but it seems like a lot of resources go into things we don’t necessarily want.

The base expansion zones are always superior, and instead of creating new events and zones to blow through in the first week, why not utilize the content that is there and instead do something like expansion artifacts. Create a class fantasy weapon that we slowly upgrade over the course of the expansion that is spec-wide and even when the expansion is over it’s still something to chase.

One thing I’ll acknowledge is each spec having a legion artifact as opposed to it being just a class in FFXIV. The solution to this would be to allow the weapon to have an override where you can choose the artifact appearance or what your class typically uses. Sort of how holy paladins artifact was a 2 handed hammer despite them typically using 1h/Shield.

I’m not saying the concept is perfect, but class fantasy is what wow does best. I would MUCH prefer resources to go towards a system like this rather than what we have now

Discussion Is anyone else just not hyped for the new season?

Maybe it's just me, but I have absolutely zero hype for the upcoming WoW season, and it makes me a bit sad, because I do want to play the game.

Every new season feels like a copy-paste of the previous one. We get a new raid, a different Mythic+ dungeon pool, a gear reset, and then it's the exact same gameplay loop all over again, the same formula.

I'm not saying the content is bad. The raids are usually well made, and some of the dungeons are fun. But after so many seasons, the formula feels incredibly predictable. It feels less like a new season and more like swapping out a few assets while keeping everything else the same.

Maybe I've simply been playing for too long and this is just burnout. Or maybe the seasonal model has become a little too formulaic.

Question Can I "start" WoW with classic Mist of Pandaria ?

So, a bit of context, I never played WoW retail (past level ~5), and don't know the story or the lore of the game.

A few years ago, I had tried classic Wrath of the Lich King, and it was the best experience I ever had playing an MMO, but I think it was mostly because servers were populated, and I was not the only beginner (I still remember the dungeons I discovered, and wiped multiple times, with a team of beginners, we walked in every trap, aggro'd too much mobs every time, had to learn the boss patterns, it was so cool)

Sadly, I couldn't find enough time to continue playing, so I stopped. But now, I have time again, and I would like to try MoP, so I have 2 questions to try to gauge if I will like it :
- Do you think there will be a lot of beginners playing ? Or mostly returning veterans ?
- Can I experience the full story of the game by starting with MoP ? By that I mean, will I have to play through every dungeon, do every quest, etc... from classic to MoP, with every extension, every zone, etc... The single time I tried retail, I was thrown in a weird zone with maya temples and dinosaurs, in the middle of a story I didn't understand, and it was a bit disappointing

Discussion Coming back is overwhelming

I’ve just come back online after about 2 and a half months off and it is so overwhelming I may just wait until the next expansion comes out to play again and watch a YouTube catch up video. I had every quest/side quest completed before I last logged off, I’ve logged on today and the entire map is just littered with quests, the pop ups on what to do, where to go etc. It’s all so much I have no clue where to actually start and what actually matters.

Lore The tale of the biggest guild bank robberies in retail vanilla

Gather around while I tell the tale of one of the craziest guild bank robberies I know of.

Back in retail vanilla on the humble server of Suramar there was a mighty Horde guild called Midnight, led by a priest named Brilliance. Now if you have ever been in ts or vent with Brilliance you will know this about him, he was VERY intense. Take the "more dots" guy and 10x the rage. Made raiding with JUGGERNAUGHT feel tame later, but I digress.

One day Brilliance decides to take the guilds entire bank, which in those days were just a series of bank alts, and sells ALL of it, over 100,000 gold worth of high end mats, gear, and raw gold. On that day the AH rained high end mats and gear at a steal. The peasants rejoiced as they were able to buy an elementium bar at a fraction of the normal cost!

"What for?" You might ask. Not gold! Not money! At least not the main driving desire, no that honor went to, wait for it...crack cocaine.

That is the story as it was told in days long gone past.

Anyone else have a good story from the wild west days of guild management?

Discussion Got into addon dev about a month ago and built myself a platform for it - the main piece is a mythic+ tracker that shows if you're actually doing your part in a key

Upvotes

So I only really got into addon dev about a month ago, and I wanted one central playground to keep all my stuff in. So I built it where each big feature is its own addon you can load/unload, but they all share the same UI and theme under the hood, one download, type /tap, flip on what you want. That's "Twisteds Addon Platform".

The main piece so far is Mythic Ledger. It tracks every key automatically and grades you after the run on throughput, survival, deaths, interrupts and dispels. The whole point is seeing where you're slacking - are you actually landing your kicks and dispels, are you pulling your weight, how much of the bad did you stand in? Good way to bump up your utility and make sure you're doing your part (Or judge the rest of the group if that's your thing).

It's fair about it too - talent aware, so you don't get dinged for a kick or dispel your spec can't do, and healers/tanks get judged on the dmg the group took, not some raw hps number. There's a scoring guide that shows exactly how each grade is built. All stored local in the addon database, nothing uploaded or public.

There's other optional stuff in there too - combat alerts, focus/interrupt macros, a rotation helper - all in the same /tap window.

Still tuning the scoring constantly, so if a grade ever feels off on your runs lmk. And honestly, when S2 drops I'm gonna need help digging into all the new dungeon quirks - which casts to kick, what to dispel, when it actually matters - so if that's your kinda thing, definitely hit me up.

It's on CurseForge if you wanna try it - TAP Twisted's Addon Platform - World of Warcraft Addons - CurseForge

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Looking forward to some discussion around the ledger and generally any ideas anyone has that might be cool to put in it.

Discussion Legion Set the Standard for What WoW Expansions Should Be

Been replaying Legion lately and I can't stop thinking about how that expansion just got what makes an MMO feel like an MMO.

Class Halls, your own questline, artifact weapons, hidden appearances, Balance of Power, class mounts... none of it was perfect, but it all added up to something modern WoW just doesn't have anymore: actual class fantasy and long-term prestige. Playing a Warlock wasn't just "another class" it was your own storyline, your own base, your own followers. It felt like an identity, not a spec.

The part I miss most though is how the prestige stuff was earned. It wasn't RNG, it wasn't tied to the weekly vault. You got it by actually playing the game. Raids, dungeons, world quests, rep grinds, old zones, professions, all of it fed into something bigger. If you saw someone rocking a Balance of Power appearance or a class mount, you knew they put in real time for it. Not luck, not a lucky drop. Actual progress.

That's the thing MMOs are supposed to be good at, giving you a big goal that makes you touch every part of the game over months. That's what makes the reward feel like something, because the grind to get there actually mattered.

I'm not saying bring back every system 1:1, but man, just take the philosophy: make classes actually feel different from each other, give them identity and their own progression, and make prestige stuff something you earn instead of roll for.

Legion had its issues for sure, but for class fantasy, long term progression, and rewards that actually mean something, it's still the blueprint imo.

Question Why do I got a leaver debuff during timewalking if I got kicked?

This monk pulled all the deadmines mobs until first boss and used 0 defensives, proceeds to die and blames me for not healing and the vote to kick goes for me instead of him.

How is it fare for players that are leveling up with the turbulent timeways event if a random person can just take away 30 mins of the very little time I have left to play during the day.

Question Help with TWW Delves, How to gain Delves reputation and why all the Curio is locked suddenly?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi, I'm a returning player and I'm still doing TWW before moving on to Midnight. I'm trying to gain Delve reputation, but nothing seems to give me one. Doing Delves on level 1. I read somewhere that you need Bounty full delves for reputation levels, but It's still locked for me because I'm only level 1. How can I gain reputation with TWW delves right now with my current reputation level.

Also I've noticed the Brann's curios are locked, They weren't locked like few days before, is this a bug?

Question WoW VPN is safe?

Hi, I'm new to this game.

This month I've been really enjoying the game, but I've been having a problem with disconnections. At first, I thought it was my internet, but every time I check my data traffic, I notice a slight packet loss, but the game still disconnects me abruptly.

I looked for a solution and discovered that VPNs help, and I've been playing with one enabled for a week now, but is it safe to use them?

I'm afraid of getting banned because I already have four characters at level 90.

Question Can't find my old Resto Druid name :(

Hello,

I'm really craving to remember how my resto druid was called, but I cannot access my battle.net account, I don't remember the e-mail associated because since I was a minor I used my friend's address.

I played during Cataclysm, did all the dungeons plus Blackwing Descent and The Bastion of Twilight, server Daggerspine (EU), I was a restoration druid, tauren (99% sure) and I was in guild Inverno Oscuro. I even remember GM and guild members PGs' names...

I tried Armory, WoWProgress, Raider.io, Warcraftlogs and even delved into old wow local folder to dig into old addons .lua files... nothing so far

Anyone knows what can I try?

Question For a team just starting out, should they play WoW Retail or WoW Classic?

Hi everyone. Five of us friends have bought the WoW monthly subscription. However, we’re not sure which WoW game to play. We logged into WoW Classic Anniversary and started playing on a PvP server. We’re all between levels 11 and 15.

When I downloaded WoW Retail out of curiosity, the graphics really drew me in, but you level up much too quickly. People say it’s much easier than the Classic version.

What do you think? Should new players play WoW Retail or WoW Classic, and why?

Complaint Banned for responding to rage bait.

On Stormrage server I just received a week long ban than stops me from using group finder, talking, doing mythic plus , and raiding. This is because two people in looking for group and trade chat was spreading hate speech, political nonsense, saying world of Warcraft retail was dead, and spreading lies and I told them to stop. Rather than just clicking the report button I made the huge mistake of talking in trade chat and looking for group to say that political talk is gross in world of Warcraft and to the guy saying wow was dead I said there are many website like data for Azeroth and wow logs that can confirm millions are still participating in wow as of this week so he should stop spreading rage bait.
Not only did they respond with more toxicity but they reported me. The sentence of me responding to them are in quotes on the blizzard automated report.
After years and years of playing I think this is the end for me. I don’t agree with a system that allows people to rage bait and get people banned for the sin of responding. I filed an appeal but if it’s not lifted that’s the end of decades of fun for me. Old blizzard had real GM people who I could call and talk to about this, but this new automated system is made for the bullies.
