Come Raid with WoWNoob at our Saturday Learning Raids!

Our Saturday Learning Raids are in full swing as the season carries on, and we wanted to post a notice to all of you here that you are invited, too!

For those who don't know, every Saturday we run the current season raid(s) on Normal difficulty from 3pm to 5:30pm EST. Our Veterans and Mods volunteer their time, experience, and knowledge for it, and as long as we have at least 10 people and the necessary roles filled, we make it work! If we happen to have more than 30 folks sign up, it's first come, first serve. We run until all bosses are dead, or until time is up!

We have also just added a brand new role if you would like a reminder ping every Saturday when raid is starting up. In order to select this role, head to Channels & Roles (on the left sidebar, at the top, above the channels list and below our banner) and you'll see Option 4 asks you if you would like a notification ping. By selecting yes, you will receive the "Saturday-Learning-Raid" role. We will ping this every Saturday to let the folks who opted in know that our raid is starting to form up.

A few things to note:

  • You MUST be on NA/OCE servers to join our run (sorry, we don't have anyone available to run for EU! EU folks can look at our #community-partners channel in the Discord server ).

  • This role does NOT guarantee you a spot in the raid group every week. It also is NOT an obligation- if you aren't feeling up for it, or are busy, or are locked out, etc etc, that's totally fine! Our raid is always first come, first serve, and open to folks of all skill and knowledge level. We do not have a roster, we do not track attendance, or anything like that.

  • Our current ilvl requirement is a minimum of 235+ ilvl or more. We require you to be in our Voice Channel simply to hear fight explanations and be able to listen to mechanics callouts- you are NOT required to speak or even have a microphone yourself (though we always welcome casual chatter and banter between bosses). All of our Discord rules apply to our Voice channels, too.

Thank you for taking a look at this and considering our raid group! We hope your season is going well so far, and may your vaults be blessed and RNG in your favor!

I'll leave this thread open for now in case any questions arise here. You can also feel free to ask them in Discord in our #raiding or #general-chat channels. Join the WoWNoob Discord here: https://discord.gg/wownoob

Retail How to see a whisper that just says "report"

Got a whisper that said something like "this message might contain bad language", I clicked see more but all it showed was a yellow clickable "report" message. Is there a way to see what was said?

Retail Blood DK 1st pull struggles need help

Is there a Blood DK YouTuber like Sha for Monks and Topicx for Warriors? Need help breaking down first pulls as I am struggling. Something like Maisara Caverns and Sky Reach where I have to run down a straight line gathering 3+ packs.

My first season playing other Tanks for fun... So far they all just zoom / leap to the next pack easily. Blood DK is my 5th tank alt, but first time ever play with the class.

I am just getting the smackdown as I gather. I watched some YT videos but they just seem to run straight at the packs no issue...

Retail Want to unlock Earthen ASAP

For me, WoW is all about setting and chasing goals that are fun and interesting. And after I learned about the Earthen racial bonus to exploration making it possible to level almost entirely using only flight, I wanted to try it. Especially since I read that this racial was being nerfed in an upcoming patch.

I skipped War Within because babies arrived, so I don’t know that expansion very well. Now I’m trying to power through the campaign to get unlock the Earthen as soon as I can. It’s possible the nerf will come with 12.1.

I’m having trouble finding information that streamlines the process. All the relevant guides are all focused on speed leveling, not campaign completion. Can anyone suggest a resource? I understand that “campaign quests have a different icon” but that’s still pretty haphazard-I’d like to see where I’m going and plan it out. I’ve been trying to parse the information on wowhead but it’s not exactly easy.

Has anyone here done this? Any guides you can point me to?

UPDATE
I just want to thank everyone who commented their suggestions. It really hasn’t been THAT much work. I’m excited to do an Earthen tour when I’m done!

Retail No Lvl 80 Upgrade with Midnights?

Hello, I just got Midnights, the base edition and received no indication for a level 80 upgrade. Nothing in the top right, no button that I can see. Does it take a while to show up?

Retail Hunter - Beast Mastery (Dark Ranger) gearing

Hey guys, not sure if this was posted in the past but this is my question that i have been trying to figure out via tutorials, wikis, etc.

I am sort of a new player (played 5 years back on WOTLK) and I've been trying to get back into Midnight as a fresh player.
I started playing as a Beast Mastery Hunter (currently level 84) and so far I have been getting gear from Campaigns, Delves (so far Tier 5) and as I am nearing level 90 I have been wondering what dungeons i should prioritize (and if I need to do something before getting into them).
From what I have understood I have a general idea that I should get into M+ dungeons (still don't have a clear idea what they are).
I have taken up Skinning and Leatherworking but I do not have a single idea how they work 😄 (Skinning I have a general idea, Leatherworking not a clue).
I would love some tips, things you guys didn't understand as starting players, pathways I should take, overall anything that will help me with gearing because lately it has been a headache figuring it out.
Thank you in advance, I know that I will get some good tips from here.

Retail Transmog question

I love all the priest transmog because it's white but I'm a terrible priest so looking for white transmogs and tried to filter out for transmog only for like mage or monk and it's showing me priest transmogs still?

Example I filter for mage and still see Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible Normal Priest Set? I don't understand how I could wear that if in a mage?

Retail When you go into old expansion zones, are you essentially time travelling?

So if i make a new character and decide to start by doing the cata zones, and then work my way through the next expansions in order of release, am i essentially time travelling? Because I assume the newest expansion is taking place after the events of all previous content, does that mean that going to old zones and doing content there is basically me in the past, since im assuming the quests and npcs are only as far along as when that expansion was released?

Or is this just how MMO’s work? By sort of having a whole mix of “chronologically ambiguous zones and quests to explore?

Im kinda trying to start my journey as early content wise as possible with one character only, and am just trying to wrap my head around the timeline.

edit: Thanks for the help everyone

Retail Pvp - is it possible to make the tab key target only enemy players?

Not exactly new, but feel like this sub is appropriate for this.
I play pvp only and often use the tab key to swap between targets.
Problem is when there is a hunter / dk or anything that summons small mobs. My tab key would usually target one of those small mobs and not the player themselves.
I also don't want to see their nameplates, healths or anything in that regard, it floods my screen very bad.
I want to see only the players and tab key to be able to target only enemy players.
Is that possible?

Retail Returned after years away

Hi all, Few QQ please.

So I subbed for the first time a few nights back having not been around since MoP and a bit of WoD.

I must have done something at some point in-between as a couple of my characters have the class weapons from legion. I have zero recollection of doing that tbh.

Must say a hell of a lot has changed and it is incredibly overwhelming tbh.

I don't really know where to start. I used the catch-up on some of the characters as it looked like most of characters had ilvl 15 or something like and some like my shadow priest (rolled back in 2005) was very....weak.

From there, once I've done the catchups, What's people's suggestions? All my characters are between 33 and 47. Should I time walk in order to level? I'd quite like to experience Legion and Battle for Azeroth so is that a valid way to level? It used to be easy and you'd go from one expansion to the next but assuming that's not how it's done anymore? One thing I have done as well is get the allied races (apart from earthen).

Also, from my earlier comment, are shadow priests terrible now? I really struggled with it, yet had a blast with my Lock and Mage. I guess I need to relearn how to play?

Thanks 👍

Retail Genuinely confused on ilvl

So i started 2 weeks ago, i've leveled 3 characters to 80, and just now started to get into delves and karesh. I noticed i was dying a lot in karesh and the mobs seemed much stronger, and also noticed delves recommend 600 ilvl, so i concluded i need to improve my Ilvl. but i'm only around 90ilvl after completing TWW. I've done a few tiers of delves pretty easy, so i'm confused as to the ilvl recommendation, and also as to how i would go about improving my Ilvl most effeciently as a solo player. I've tried looking it up but i';m getting a mixed bag of answers. If anyone has any straightforward answers i'd really appreciate it, and if its important to note: I do not have midnight expansion

Retail Arms Warrior Rotation Question

I'm still leveling (65 right now) so maybe this works out at 90. I'm seeing rotations telling me to hit Ravager before Colossus Smash, but with the Anger Management trait it comes off cooldown way faster so are these abilities supposed to drift and to just catch them together if they are close enough on cooldown?

I'm not planning on taking Arms to M+ (I've actually never done M+) and am just casually leveling all classes. But I do like studying and practicing rotations as a "what if I take this further."

Classic Warlock

Hi, noob that started playing like a few days ago and I decided to play warlock. I'm interested in playing affliction and demonology but I'm not fully sure which to focus on or from some videos I saw I should also invest a bit in destruction too? I like affliction playstyle but I'm also interested in some stuff demonology can do too but since I'm early in the game (level 8) I still don't know which I'll prefer and don't want to waste coins on resetting skills and stuff. Any tips/guidance?

Professions Recrafting quotes question

Hi. Just returned after last playing in MOP and mainly interested in pvp. Got a bit carried away with crafting the Thalassian pieces so I either missed embellishments on one char and created all 3 pieces with embellishments on another.

I asked a few people in trade for a recraft and I'm being quoted 6-10k, and they're not budging and I don't get why. I left 20g when I placed the order for the craft.. now I'm providing everything again and it's 10k?

If quality doesn't matter and recipes aren't that rare, what's the cost to the crafter? For 1k and 30min farming crates, I'll just craft them again. I could level up a profession to that point and do it myself for less than 10k

Retail Questions for healers - How do you pay attention to your surroundings?

I just started playing a healer, and I keep dying because I don’t notice that I’m being attacked or that my own health is dropping.
I’m so focused on my party members’ health bars that I don’t notice what’s happening around me.

How can I get better at this?

Retail Did I just mess up my mythic gear from the vault?

I'm a retribution paladin and I had some leg armor that had 90+ in mastery and 30+ in crit mythic track from the great vault today. According to the method guide, Luminous greaves is the BiS and I currently have that leg armor but in hero track. So I went directly to the catalyst to convert my new mythic gear (forgot the exact name of it) to luminous greaves mythic track and now the crit and mastery stats are gone. I went to the crest exchange and those crit and mastery stats are also missing after checking the 6/6 myth upgrade. Did I mess up? Should I just not upgrade this gear anymore or is there any way to revert the changes without having to go through customer support?

Professions Will someone help me wrap my pea brain around alchemy?

Hey all, returning player from BFA era and I am having a hard time with the new alchemy system.

What I am trying to understand:
-How to get enough of the abundance currency to craft the epic gear that gives bonus crafting skill, can you only farm it 1x a week?

-How do I get my skill up enough to craft rank 2 potions? Do I have to just wait for my concentration to build back up every day, this is why there is an ‘alt army’ term?

-is it worth it to go around and collect all the recipes for the first time craft?

-Can I increase my skill level by just grinding and crafting one potion? I just wanted to save money on my potions of recklessness!

Retail New tank and I have to run my first dungeon.

I created a DK a couple weeks ago and generally loving it. A huge change from being a squishy mage. I’m at lvl 85, I have ran a few follower dungeons to learn and they have been helpful but it’s starting to seem like they are pulling on their own more and taking mobs into different directions which makes getting and keeping aggro difficult. I understand that sometimes other players may take aggro from you, it happens to me as a mage from time to time, but I at least know to bring mobs back to the tank. Now I could just pug regular groups with regular people, but let’s be honest here,.. I’m a slow learner and others are quick to kick you.

Any tips, words of encouragement ??

Retail Last Boss Magister's Terrace Strategy

Struggling a bit with Degentrius. I play healer and switch between resto shaman and MW monk. Should I be on the same side or opposite side of the tank? Should we try to split it one person with the tank and 3 on the other side?

Also, the ability where players get marked and then shoot out orbs. I've had some party members try to stack with these, but I couldn't tell if that actually prevented the damage. Should I be doing that, or should we just generally be spread the whole fight and dodge?

I'm also having a hard time overall with it because I get overwhelmed dodging the orbs, the volleyball mechanic, and healing the ticking damage/responding to spikes. Especially on MW because I'm having a very hard time staying in melee, and I can't keep pace with the ticking damage with my ST rotation. Any tips for dealing with all of that? Currently at +15 on rsham and +13 on mw
