Who else got this email
How likely is it I’ll get an apartment-style res 🙏
We would like to let you know of some resources that you can use when planning for course registration:
General Tips I Picked Up
Please comment any useful links or tips.
Regarding bird/easy elective questions:
There has been a lot of similar posts regarding users asking about general bird/easy courses which has understandably annoyed some users. Please use the search filter, search "bird", "easy", or "electives", and filter by new. If you make a post regarding "bird" or "easy" electives, your post may be removed.
*Note: This rule is temporary and WILL NOT apply to people asking about specific electives or electives in their specific disciplines (i.e. BBA students asking what BU courses to take)
Please note that most reddit users are not affiliated with Laurier. As such you should do your own research and not blindly trust other users.

Hello students,
There has been a concerning increase in the frequency of posts and comments regarding fears, depression, loneliness, and other concerns relating to mental health and wellbeing.
We are aware that it is a very stressful time especially with midterms ongoing so the moderator team would like to ensure that all students are aware of the resources available to Laurier students on the student wellness centre website. There are a variety of services available meant to cater to you and your needs. These services are available to all students and should be taken advantage of. These services also include counselling, which is covered by your student insurance and the student services fees that you have already paid for.
Below are some other resources for students in need of urgent help:
- Good2talk.ca (Call 1-866-925-5454 or Text GOOD2TALKON to 686868) for 24/7 support
- Kids Help Phone (Call 1-800-668-6868 or Text 686868)
- The Suicide Crisis Helpline (Call or text 988)
- Call here 24/7 anytime Call Here 24/7 anytime [1-844-437-3247](tel:1-844-437-3247)
- Call Laurier's Special Constable Service 519-885-3333
- Emergency Services (Call 911)
This post is being made purely for informational purposes. We want to foster a safe and inclusive environment both online and on campus. However, many first year students (and upper years) are not aware of the professional help that is available to them.
Please take care of yourselves and reach out to your friends who you know are struggling or not in a good mental space.

I have read some people saying to get a twin mattress topper and sheets and others saying twin XL. Which one is it? (Obviously not for any residences with double beds or for taller guys who got the long beds)

Hey everyone.
I’m doing my first internship this summer and i finish in about a month. I work in corporate finance and i feel most of the time everyone is too busy for me and it makes me think sometimes no one likes me or believes in me. I’m the only intern working alongside managers and a couple analysts. I feel annoying reaching out every day asking if they need help. I’m just really insecure in the workplace. I am not the greatest at small talk but i try, but 99% of the time they aren’t great at keeping the conversations either.
I feel like i am clouded with self doubt and insecurity and I just assume their tone means something bad.
Am i wrong for feeling this way, is this normal for interns. I thought being in a small group enhances connection but i barely feel connected to everyone. But i also think it might be because everyone’s just super busy all the time.
Anyway, any advice would help. Thank you

As an incoming first what should I expect from conrad residence.
I heard it doesn’t have ac, an elevator and my specific accommodation has communal bathrooms. All that being said it is close to the athletic centre

I just got sent my residency type and building which is Bouckaert Hall and a traditional double room dorm. This is neither of my top 2 choices. I picked the semi private dorm where you just share a bathroom with someone else, and the ensuite apartment style specifically for the reason that I am really not interested in sharing my bedroom with someone. I have pretty bad anxiety and am someone who values my alone time. Is there any way I can get this switched?

I just got put in Waterloo College Hall for first year res and I wanna know what the vibe is like.
I’m very social and love partying, meeting new people and a general loud social life. Will I enjoy this res based on that?

During the school year my calc mark dropped really low (below the conditional) because of extremely poor mental health so I took it in the summer to make up for it, filled in the form and everything.
I got my grade back and it was over 10% higher than the conditional so I was happy.
Then I found out for BBA-related programs, they take the average of two courses taken and thats what they use instead of the higher grade. Because the calc grade I got first was so bad, it ultimately dropped the average of the two and I missed my conditional because of it, even if the second one was well-above.
Is there anything I can do? Would proof of a doctor’s note and medical records do anything here or do I just give it up and take a gap year.

I was just accepted to the advanced standing MSW PT a Laurier and feel pretty stoked about it.
Any one else starting this with me or in it now who can speak to their experiences?

EDIT: I got in! Email came the day after I got my room assignment, hope this helps someone else frantically googling this time next year haha. If anyone else is in the Film and Media RLC this year or is a film major and wants to connect feel free to DM me!

I graduated guelph-humber and sent my transcript to laurier May 6th, 2026. Laurier emailed me late June saying they hadn't received it, i responded with the receipt of transcript request and they did not get back to me.
Today they emailed me saying if I dont submit my transcript by friday they'll rescind my offer. I contacted guelph-humber again and they're re-sending it as well as showed confirmation to Laurier I submitted it over a month ago.
Has this happened to anyone else? Guelph-humber's student services has mentioned this is somewhat ongoing issue with Laurier specifically, and they put my mind at ease. But still very unimpressed with Laurier.
Even after responding to the email today showing proof of transcript request they basically said "idc its your responsibility figure it out and get back to us." 😐
