trying to think to pull myself under the bar more, feel like I’m over-pulling these. Any tips? have tried tall cleans and I feel I do them smoothly but when I introduce the full movement (from the floor) my muscles just like forgets the ”don’t pull go under” movement idk...harsh critiques accepted and encouraged.

Programming How frequently do you allow yourself to miss a training day?

I like to believe I'm very disciplined and only miss the days I'm injured because I think I cannot allow myself to miss any other days.

Nonetheless I know just missing a single day in a 16week cycle is nothing and perhaps even beneficial for long term psychological wellness (to not burn out) and even some of the aches and pains might disappear.

I'm interested to know what your approach is and your thoughts around this subject.

For context I'm M35 almost M40 and train 4x a week. Sometimes i feel like I'm pushing too hard and need a day off but on the other hand I have goals that I want to achieve before my body tells me in no uncertain terms it can't be done.

It is difficult to juggle these feelings for a hobbyist such as myself.

Cheers.

This was the last set. Pretty pleased with the speed all things considered. I’ve tried this program twice before never finished it (got sick both other times) hopefully this will be the one 🤞

EDIT: 1RM was 140KG at the start of the program 4 weeks ago. It’s obviously higher now (which means the program is working.)

Form check Clean and snatch

I’ve been transitioning from CrossFit to a higher focus on WL since the beginning of the year. I feel like it’s finally coming together, because I land under the bar pretty consistently and I finally reduced going on the toes to early and being a hip bouncer. Main improvement was by starting with the bar more in the mid of the foot. Doing a lot of strength work on the side.
I feel like I‘m getting to the point where strength is my main limit. But I want to hear what you guys think.

Clean: 90kg PR - FS at about 107,5kg. That was definitely a grind.

Snatch: first 57,5kg - when I get to 60+ it becomes more random and I feel like OH stability becomes the issue. Sometimes 60 are pretty okay, sometimes I miss (60 fail to show what I mean, I know the bar behind me was dangerous!) Old PR 62,5kg (but a shitty one). OHS 3RM around 65 kg.

First time really trying to snatch in probably a year. Prepping for Arizona state championships 12 weeks from now
Yes the colors on these plates are off, let me just imagine it’s 145 so I can feel good about myself.

Form check Do any of you rack the clean with straight (neutral) wrists? Fused wrist here

I'm new to weightlifting and working toward a real clean and jerk. My right wrist is surgically fused, so it does not extend or flex at all (most of the carpals and the radius are one big bone).

I'm wondering if it is possible for me to eventually get a good clean and jerk by just working on everything else: shoulder external rotation, shoulder blades forwawrd, thoracic extension to get elbows high; lat flexibility; an upright squat from good ankle dorsiflexion, knee flexion, and hip mobility. If those things are optimized, can it still be done with neutral wrists?

For anyone who has done this or coached it: is a clean and jerk realistic with a fully fused wrist? What actually worked, what surprised you, and where did you hit real limits? Grip width, catch style, jerk setup, all of it is welcome.

Thanks in advance.
