Hi everyone!
I'm planning to get my first tattoo, and I want to make sure the Japanese is natural before I commit to something permanent.
The phrase I'm trying to express is:
"To find meaning within chaos."
The translation I currently have is:
混沌の中に意味を見出す
The idea isn't that chaos itself has meaning, but rather that a person finds or creates meaning while living through chaos.
I have a few questions:
• Does 混沌の中に意味を見出す sound natural to a native Japanese speaker?
• Does it convey the intended meaning accurately, or is there a more idiomatic or poetic way to express it?
• Since this will be a vertical spine tattoo, would you recommend writing it vertically, and would any punctuation or formatting make it look more natural?
• If you saw this as a tattoo, would it read like something a native speaker might write, or would it immediately sound like a direct translation?
I'd really appreciate any corrections or alternative suggestions. Since this will be my first tattoo, I'd rather get it right than regret it later.
Thank you very much!
