This was completely spontaneous too and it worked twice!!!

I fought this player about 2 matches ago, and I realized he punished me twice after trying to drive rush. So I took it to my advantage

Discussion Making faces pre-match

I've been playing SF games since SF2 champion edition was the hot new game, but never played online or against actual people outside of my friends and brothers. Fell in love with 6 the second I picked it up a couple weeks back and have been lurking here studying up a bit, and have noticed in pretty much every video posted nobody makes faces in the pre-match screen. Is that an etiquette thing, or are people just over it at this point? I had my first ever online match last night and flashed Kens grin at the Terry I played, and they gave me one back, so it can't be that much of a taboo. I'm wondering what the community has to say about them, cause I loved it the second I saw it was a thing.

Help / Question Cancel?

Post image
42 Upvotes

So what I understand of cancelling from other fighting games is that you press the move's command completely, then press a "cancelling command" to stop the animation. In SF6 I am unsure what's cancelling is even supposed to do. So I did Luke's while-standing heavy punch then followed up with Sand Blast and the tutorial said I succeeded.

The name "cancelling" is just confusing. From what I can understand it feels like a "guaranteed move" but I am not really sure. Hopefully someone can explain this to me, thank you!

Discussion Since I see this question asked often on the subreddit, I decided to make a rough guesstimate of Ryu's and Chun-Li's ages using official Capcom sources.

I made this after since people cite the SF2 booklet or Wikipedia/Reddit sources for their ages so I thought I just bite the bullet on a slow work day to look up as many official sources as I could for fun. As I stated multiple times in the image series, due to the adults ages being well hidden I had to use the SF kids as reference since there's quite some clues from their timeskips respectively left over that helped me piece things together.

The key thing to take from all of this is time flows differently in the Street Fighter Earth than our own. I thought this was fairly obvious since almost ever modern fiction follows the time of the story instead of our real world time, so no Ryu and friends aren't in their 60s yet. Canonically the SFverse is still in the early/mid-00s, but with modern day tech and social norms so society advanced far faster in the SFverse.

Highlight (in-game) Learning Anti-Airs genuinely felt like unlocking a whole new part of the game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've usually played shotos, and I was never very good at anti airing. When I was thinking about literally anything, I would never be able to DP: I usually crutched on crouching heavy punch. However, I recently started playing Ed, and I was having a lot of trouble crutching on his Heavy Kick, so I decided to actually try and learn to DP anti air. It took me lot of matches before I landed a single one, but the first time I got it without really "thinking about it" (it clicked) felt insane. I'm not incredible, but now I get it somewhat often, and it always feels so satisfying. Being able to do it at all makes it feel like my opponents have to respect me so much more, like I'm playing a whole new aspect of the game. Here's some from my 2nd day on Ed.

Mod / Software Test your reaction time for each finger and button on your controller

Post image
26 Upvotes

I've made an online reaction time tester for SF6: https://mrgoto.com.br/sf6-reaction-time-lab/

It lets you specify the type of controller, button, switch mechanism, and finger used in each run. The idea is to make it easy to study reaction times for each of these variables independently, and for any combination of them.

You can also select several buttons at once to run a choice reaction test, which is the type of reaction time we should be discussing in the context of fighting games. Reacting to a DI in a real match is usually a different task from waiting for a cue to press a single button while nothing else is happening, which is how we usually test reaction times. This matters because choice RT is generally more trainable than simple RT.

You can generate a report with all data from a session, or all your saved data if you create an account. Or just download your complete dataset to analyze it yourself.

This was intended as a simple tool to support other projects (like the development of this controller, for evaluating different button layouts: https://reddit.com/1tzmttk, and this round outcome prediction experiment: https://reddit.com/1n6pvza), but I kept adding stuff until it became its own thing.

This Akuma started DI-ing my burn kicks and decided to teabag on the first interaction of our second game, after losing the first one. Ended up being teabagged back multiple times and losing the set with a baited DI.

Discussion Thinking about going leverless

Upvotes

I have been playing fighting games with pad since i first found my passion for the genre about 2 years ago, i have been a pc player for over 7-8 years now. I tried playing sf6 on keyboard to try out and see if i would like a leverless controller and i think i would, but i have no knowledge of what is a good leverless controller. So i asked around and ive been told to go for a haute42 or kitsune, and now i ask you fellas for recommandations as well. Thank you!

Help / Question Slow Motion in Practice Mode?

I noticed once that my game would run slow during practice mode (and no it isn't the 50% option in the settings OR vsync). Even with shader recompiles it still happens. I have a decent midrange PC, not running at max graphics or resolution, even on lowest settings this happens. I have reinstalled the game to see if that works and it does for a day or two but it starts back again.

Is there anybody else experiencing this? I can't continue playing the game in this state as I basically can't lab anything any more. The only thing I can think is that I'm running the game on a HDD but I don't see how that would affect specifically the practice mode and nothing else.

Fluff / Other How to change control settings in Street Fighter 6

Upvotes

I just can't use the scroling combos in this game, I don't know how to say it but it's there things right here:

It's just weird, my fingers never stop at the right moment and I just want to use these spells with a single button, the thing is, I don't know how to change this

There are only two spells in my character that requires these button presses, I want to change that to my controler arrow keys and move only with the analog, is that possible?

Have I explained this too confusingly?

Help / Question Help an aspiring Dhalsim player

Hi everyone, pretty title. After 200 hrs on SF6 (my first Street Fighter ever) playing many characters and changing main one every week (lol) I'd like to move to Mr. Yoga and learn how to play him, I'd like to focus 100% on him, I'd like to literally study Dhalsim. As far as I know the Dhalsim community is very welcoming so, where to start? Any guide/video/youtuber to start with? General tips? What's my gameplan? What are the best Sim pro players?

Discussion Rank Distribution - July 20, 2026

Post image
173 Upvotes

Source: https://www.streetfighter.com/6/buckler/ranking/league & https://www.streetfighter.com/6/buckler/ranking/master (with Max LP and Max MR filters applied to only count unique accounts). I downloaded the publicly available ranked data exposed through Capcom’s CFN/Buckler JSON endpoints using a custom scraper. If anyone else would like to do the same in the future, there are other scrapers available online like this one that was shared with the community in the past: https://github.com/3ternal/CFNScrape

It's been a while since I saw updated stats on these online so I thought I'd do one myself. There's always discussion happening regarding ranks and it's nice to have up to date numbers. I was curious about how the ranks shifted since last year, and I may do this from time to time to keep track of it (unless someone else does it before me). I also added a couple more charts comparing active vs inactive players which I thought was interesting.

The charts are for: Total Ranked Players (ever), Phase 12 Active Players, Recent (30-day) Active Players. And the pie chart is to see how many Masters actually participate in Master league during the phase (it's 61.31% so quite a lot!)

Some interesting stuff:

  • Almost half of the entire ranked population logged online at least once during phase 12. And 1 out of 3 were online in the last 30 days, which I think is a great ratio for active players and player retention, especially for a fighting game.
  • Master players are significantly more active than the general population. They're twice as likely to be recently active compared to the rest. Which I think makes sense as the more active you are, the more likely you are to reach Master.
  • Compared to the stats shared by AlietteFaye last year, Master changed from top 15.79% to top 17.68% (of total players). This is an increase yes and I know we hate talking about rank inflation, but am interested to see if an equilibrium will be reached at some point with more new players coming in to fill lower ranks. The game is still selling extremely well and we have years to go.
  • Within the MR ecosystem, 1600 MR is top 23.56% and 1800 MR is top 5.29% of current MR players, which is similar to stats I saw in the past. So even though the general rank distribution keeps changing over time, MR values within Master rank seem to keep roughly the same distribution.
  • That said, it's really difficult to assign a certain "top%" value (relative to total player count) to certain MR ranges because there are a lot of inactive/unrated Master players, and we don't know how they'd actually rank on the MR ladder. Do we consider all of them "0 MR / Diamond 6"? Or assume they'd have similar MR distribution like the rest? I think it's more likely that those players would be on the lower side of the MR spectrum, but that's only an assumption. So the best we can do for high ranks is give a range like this: Compared to the entire player base, 1600 is between top 2.5% and 4%, 1800 is between top 0.57% and 0.94%, etc

Note: The data took around 45 hours to download, and the live leaderboard changed slightly during and after the scrape. And it was collected about 10 days before the end of the current phase, meaning the final phase numbers may move a little. So it's not perfect, but it should be as accurate as it can be for a rolling snapshot like that.

Correction: Left a comment to clarify what "Active" player means in this context
