I'm an unc pushing 50. Played sf2 and alpha 2 as a kid and loved them. Decided to get sf6 after rediscovering sf through the 30th anniversary collection. I placed iron and legitemately never thought I'd get past gold, but after months of work I was able to hit masters with my first character this week. I know this isn't a big deal for most people, but in a lot of ways I feel like this is my greatest personal gaming acheivennt of all time.
I also wasn't prepared for the depth of the journey. I never thought a video game genre could force you into a state of deep self reflection, especially with regard to confronting and getting a handle on your own emotions/ego.
I’d be lying if I said that I didn't have moments of incredible salt along the way, but gradually over time I was able to readjust my mind set and now it really isn't an issue anymore. Now that I've made masters and have nothing left to prove to myself, I'm just excited to learn more about the game and see where I can take it.
Anyway, for any older players out there who might be struggling and wondering if they'll ever be able to improve. Just keep going, you got this... and if you put in the work, chances are you*ll be able to improve more than you ever thought possible. Also if anyone is looking for some stress free custom rooms and wants to practice the JP match up dm me and we’ll make it happen!
