We recently went to the Camp in Philadelphia at the Smart center which specializes in selective autism and I thought I would tell you my experience in case anyone is interested because it’s a lot of money so I know you’d wanna know if it was worth it. Overall, we had a good experience. I like that. They do parent sessions while the kids are in camp. It was very very, very informative on the causes strategies to help them dealing with the schools medication, etc. they really covered everything. My daughter who is 14 I have to say it was probably in her group anyway one of the severe cases of SM. She was verbal from day one she’s been verbal with adult strangers for a while, but most kids in her group were completely nonverbal with anyone other than their parents so I do feel that a lot of it was targeted for kids who may be more severe with their SM. Having said that,, I do think she learned some strategies and some social skills on how to keep conversations going how to elaborate in conversation and maybe it just helped increase her confidence a bit. The parent part was really in the part that I think that cannot be emphasize enough that was the most helpful. If you’re on the fence about doing this camper, any other like if there are any, I suggest you do it. I do not regret spending the money and I do not regret going.
