So about a month ago I got three piercings (my second lobes and one of my firsts bc it had to be redone) and only one of them hasn’t healed, I took them out to maybe change the jewelry and clean it and one of them started leaking thick white pus (I assume) it wasn’t a lot but it was still there. It doesn’t hurt and it’s not swollen but I’m worried about it. Do you think I’ll be able to nurse it back to healing ? Should I just keep cleaning it and maybe put a hot compress on it? Idk what to do about it rn lol.
I’m having some lower teeth pain that last for hours with my vertical labret, it’s only my fifth day with it and it started the end of the third day.
Could this be from swelling? There are no signs of infection and I went to a reputable piercer in my area. I also called my piercer and they said a toothache isn’t uncommon and while I’ve seen a couple of others have it I haven’t seen anyone else have this issue. It has not and can’t be downsized for another two weeks I believe and I got pierced with a flat top. I usually am cleaning it twice a day with saline and water
ok i don’t know if this is a dumb question or not but does anyone have issues where their septum is super itchy in public? I have this problem but i don’t want to make it seem like im picking my nose. do you guys carry tissue or is there something else that can relieve it. also side note i think it’s because my septum is only a month old and i heard it’s common for it to be itchy as its healing.
These were an easy piercing, the needle I did not even feel entering, only exiting on the top part of my lip, and that wasnt even that bad. Theyre healing fine so far, its been about 4 days now. Ill get them downsized in a week or so because a lot of the swelling is gone now.
I low-key got this piercing impulsively without fully researching the healing process. I have always wanted one but I didn't recognize the care and healing that went into getting one. It has been snagged a few times, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is just bruising. I also took the current picture after I had cleaned it. It's just that there's so much bar hanging loose, if that's just how it is after swelling goes down ok, but is it rejecting or am I freaking out over nothing?
I can touch the red area and it doesn't hurt. I did have some egg white puss/discharge for a couple weeks prior. And when I accidentally snagged it on my desk it was bleeding a small amount 🥲 and that did hurt like a bitch. I've been using a shot glass and soaking it for 5-10 mins in diluted saline solution or antibacterial soap, ideally twice a day. Any info or suggestions would be great!
Older pics of my current setup, my coinslot is filled completely now and I’ve added more chains than you see in the pictures :) Super excited to hopefully add another daith next week!
Although we do our best to make the rules of this subreddit as clear as we can within the characters limits, we notice that sometimes there’s some confusion or misunderstanding about the rules.
In this post we want to give some context to rule number 6, Unsafe, harmful and/or dangerous advice/misinformation
Unsafe, harmful, dangerous advice/misinformation and/or at home “remedies” are not allowed on this subreddit. This includes soap, tea tree oil, aspirin paste, hydrogen peroxide, bactine, (rubbing) alcohol i.a. Advice should be in line with current professional aftercare guidelines or be backed by scientific medical studies related to the healing of puncture wounds in relation to piercings. Falsehoods and misinformation that go beyond lack of nuance are likewise not allowed.
Some more example of stuff you shouldn’t advice people to put on their piercing
Lemon juice, garlic, nail polish remover, mustard, vinegar, apple cider, ginger, urine, saliva.
We’re not joking, (although we wish we were), these are real life examples of what people adviced to put on a piercing to help the healing on this subreddit
But it worked for me
Healing in spite of and healing because of are two very different things. Our bodies can handle a lot of the crap we put it through. There is no evidence to be found that the examples of "home remedies" mentioned in the rule, work better then good aftercare and good quality, well fitted, jewelry. There is however evidence of risk with these "home remedies".
As this is a piercing subreddit we of course are big fans of bodily autonomy. What you do with your body and piercings is your choice, but that doesn't mean it's something you should advice a random internet stranger to do. If you want to offer advice, the advice should not come with serious risk of harm.
But this dude/girl recommended it on tiktok/youtube
What are their credentials? Are they a body piercer? Are they a good body piercer? Do they have a solid online portfolio of well executed piercings? Are they being sponsored? There certainly is amazing and great information to be found on sites like TikTok and Youtube, but do use your critical thinking skills and don't blindly assume that whoever is posting it must know what they are talking about.
Quick tip, if they claim it worked after ”just“ two weeks, it‘s really nothing that good care and good jewelry wouldn’t fix in the same amount of time just without the risk of serious harm.
But my piercer advised it to me
Not all piercers are great. We hate to say it, but a lot of piercers are not great at all. So unfortunately, just because your piercer advised it doesn't mean it's good advice. If your piercer has ever recommended one or more of the examples mentioned in the rules to you, our advice would be to find a better piercer.
Falsehoods and misinformation
The internet isn’t know for its subtlety and nuance is often lost. This subreddit is no exception to the regret of a lot of awesome piercers. We do however draw the line at falsehoods and misinformation that may cause harm if someone took it at face value.
Suggestions for additional piercings and/or jewellery changes please and thank you 😀
Note: I am contemplating stretching my left 1st lobe piercing to the same size as the right (10mm).
I dont have the anatomy for industrial piercings, or the space for snugs unfortunately. I am up for piercing the fold on my left ear, and my piercer is enthusiastic to do something with that 😄
I got my septum pierced about 5 days ago. this is the healing progress and i’m so afraid of it being infected. It doesn’t feel particularly hot and i don’t think there’s pus, rather just snot collection around the jewelry. (it’s gross, i know) does this look normal or infected?
OK so I got my forward helix pierced today. (I got 2 but the bottom one went in crooked so she had to take it out) My question is does the placement look correct for the one that is in there? The first pic is more of a front view (that I think looks good) but the second pic from a full side view doesn't look centered and looks closer to my hair than the edge if that makes sense. Idk, is this a normal placement and I'm just over thinking it?
Hii! So, I mainly wanted to know if my left ear is anatomical suitable for an industrial piercing? I got my right one done about one year and three months ago—haha, first year anniversary! But, I wanted to also know what other piercings I can get on both ears that I have the anatomy for. I did take some pics of both of my ears—right side looks better because of the sun—but, hopefully these are good enough angles!
A little over five months after getting my piercing, I made a fool of myself and took the jewelry out and then put it back in. I put it in the bottom hole and it went through without a problem, except that the bar got a little stuck near the top hole and I had to use a little effort to push it through. Now both holes are red and oozing white fluid, just like the first week. I understand that the healing process was repressed, but I'm wondering if there will be any permanent effects, if everything will get better, and how I can improve the situation. I'm currently treating it with saline again. The last photo was taken before I took out the jewelry
I’m still healing so not getting anything soon but what should I add next? I think I want to add two more on my right ear and maybe one more on my left (my ideas are in purple). Also, ideally I don’t want to buy much more jewellery but can move around what I have once healed (third photo shows the rest of what I have)
Note: I have had anatomy checked for the ones I’ve drawn on. I don’t have rook anatomy.
Also, my first lobes are healing from being stretched and I think I’ll stack rings in them but not 100%
Should i be concerned about my nostril piercing? I got it pierced 2 days ago, And the ring rised up a little bit. redness is still here too. (my glasses brushed just slightly a few times)
So much pain but it’s so worth it. More people should get orbitals I’m obsessed. I plan to get a second one around my helix and maybe a forward helix one on the other ear 😛
Hii, would a smiley be good for a first facial piercing? I've heard it doesn't hurt that much, tho it damages your teeth and it's very temporary. Can anyone share their experience?
So, I got a dermal piercing back in like September of 2024 so I’ve had it for almost 2 years, and I’ve had zero issues with it-until now. It’s a standard size dermal jewelry (not exactly sure what it’s called) but I haven’t changed it since having it done. I had a great healing process, did all the aftercare steps. But now, for the past few days there has been this pimple looking bump that’s grown right above it that appears to be pushing it kind of out. I messaged my piercer on IG but no response back yet. Has anyone had any experiences like this? I really don’t want to have to take it out if I don’t have to!
