Hello everyone! I’m 25 years old and a first time mom to a 9 month old. I love cars, motorcycles, gaming, scuba diving, shopping, and anything cute! I enjoy reading as well- though I feel like I’ve had less time for it than I’ve liked in recent months. I’ve recently gotten into journaling (junk journaling, commonplace, and traditional stream of consciousness journaling) and it’s encouraged me to finally pursue my dream of having a penpal!

Here are some details about me:

My big hobbies are reading and making art- comics for a while, but mostly these days it’s a lot of landscapes in pencil. (And, admittedly, I do draw a lot of dragons.) Where I know that skill isn’t everything in life, I’m proud of the fact that I’m pretty good at it. Most of the books I read are nonfiction, about food history or deep time and human nature- but it’s hard to beat a good sci-fi.

I also enjoy a lot of textile hobbies, (shittily) learning to play the banjo, and am trying to relearn how to cook, among other things. I am a bit of a hobby collector.

When I see myself as a person, I’d say she’s intense with a voracious intellectual appetite. I’m artistically driven, kinda silly, and perhaps a tad prone to self doubt and magical thinking. I know I have an odd perception of life, and would love to talk to others who feel similarly. Hi! I'm hoping to find 1- 2 snail mail pen pals within the USA. I'm on the West Coast. This would be my first time and stepping a bit out of my comfort zone, but I love the idea of building a connection through letters!

I'm Steve, 37M from Newfoundland, Canada.  I've posted here in the past, but I'm looking to exchange emails with a few folks (with a possible switch to snail mail if the vibes are right) and possibly make some new friends.  I feel like I’m god-awful at selling myself but here are a few things about me and my interests:

I am a voracious reader and am currently a member of two book clubs.  I just finished The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, which inspired me to seek out a pen pal again.  There are books all over my apartment; my wife and I make regular trips to the book store "just to browse".  I'll read pretty much anything, and I do count audiobooks as reading.

I enjoy video games and video game music.  I often hyperfocus on one or two games for a few weeks and then move on; currently I'm playing Pokemon X, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and Diablo IV which is one of my comfort games.  I don't have a favorite video game soundtrack, but my shortlist would include Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, Super Mario RPG, and Mega Man X.

My music tastes vary, but I do have a few nostalgic artists and albums that I keep coming back to.  I used to sing and play guitar in a tribute band about a decade ago, but now I just belt out some tunes in the car.

I am an introvert with a social battery that won't hold much of a charge, but I'm trying to change that in small ways that won't induce a panic attack.  The male loneliness epidemic is real and I am a part of it.  I swear a lot, I have a sweet tooth, and I am very 420-friendly; there's nothing better than smoking a joint and getting lost in a good book or album.

I work at a library in North Carolina, USA and I would really like to set up a few postcard clubs in person that meets monthly and writes, sends, and receives from the library's address. I'd make one in the teen/young adult, adult, and seniors sections of the library. The problems is that I use postcrossing for my personal use and am trying to decide if it is a good fit for these clubs or not.

At the moment I have two different ideas; either each person in the club sets up their own postcrossing account using the library as their address or we don't use the website at all and just reach out to different libraries and clubs, and senior centers around the world to create our own community separate from postcrossing.

If we use postcrossing then we have to figure out a way to register the postcards when they arrive since we'd only meet once a month. However, we wouldn't have to search for people to mail to or keep track of their addresses.

If we build a community ourselves then we have to find groups that want to exchange postcards and it would be a lot to keep track of ourselves. However, we could just toss all the postcards into a box for each club when they arrive and deliver them all once a month at the club meetings.

What are your thoughts on this and/or has any one done this before?

As, for my interests: I enjoy exercising, hanging out with friends, playing some games casually, watching movies and serieses. In the past, I've learned quite a bit from "A Smarter Way to Learn Python" which is really really interesting! I also enjoy learning math, from Khan Academy.
