I am fortunate enough to have found my pen pal of 7 years on this sub. My letter-writing has suffered the past year as a result of moving abroad and focusing on other hobbies. Recently, I realized how much I missed having random stimulating conversations with strangers. Even though most of them didn't last, I still had a great time corresponding.

I love plunging into life's bigger questions, random ruminations and deeper feelings - or conversations that promote self-growth and self-actualization. For starters, lately I've been thinking a lot about interpersonal relationships (friendships in particular) and what it means to form a connection and establish emotional intimacy. The book I am reading (Fem by Magda Carneci) happens to have a paragraph in the prologue that relates to this topic.

I would love to hear whatever you have on your mind, the books that you are reading, the goals you are trying to achieve, things you are learning or passionate about. Aside from reading, I do ballet and crochet. Huge into thrifting/fashion too!

I've been told I am rather serious and "emo" on letters but bubbly in person, so let's see which facet of me you get to unlock haha.

The point of pen-palling, imo, is to revive the art of slow communication, so sorry, I am not for you if you look for daily or even weekly correspondence (I mean, it might be the case at the beginning, but the intervals down the road would be longer). I also tend to write longer emails/letters. (I am committed to my current pen pal for dissertation-length letters though, so nothing longer than that!)

I do have a preference for snail mail, as I have a deeper appreciation of physical letters and penmanship (even if you claim your handwriting is ugly). I also don't mind being the only one sending letters and you sending me emails; I'm flexible. Bonus points if you are outside of North America.

I'm Steve, 37M from Newfoundland, Canada.  I've posted here in the past, but I'm looking to exchange emails with a few folks (with a possible switch to snail mail if the vibes are right) and possibly make some new friends.  I feel like I’m god-awful at selling myself but here are a few things about me and my interests:

I am a voracious reader and am currently a member of two book clubs.  I just finished The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, which inspired me to seek out a pen pal again.  There are books all over my apartment; my wife and I make regular trips to the book store "just to browse".  I'll read pretty much anything, and I do count audiobooks as reading.

I enjoy video games and video game music.  I often hyperfocus on one or two games for a few weeks and then move on; currently I'm playing Pokemon X, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and Diablo IV which is one of my comfort games.  I don't have a favorite video game soundtrack, but my shortlist would include Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, Super Mario RPG, and Mega Man X.

My music tastes vary, but I do have a few nostalgic artists and albums that I keep coming back to.  I used to sing and play guitar in a tribute band about a decade ago, but now I just belt out some tunes in the car.

I am an introvert with a social battery that won't hold much of a charge, but I'm trying to change that in small ways that won't induce a panic attack.  The male loneliness epidemic is real and I am a part of it.  I swear a lot, I have a sweet tooth, and I am very 420-friendly; there's nothing better than smoking a joint and getting lost in a good book or album.

My name is Rob and I'm from North Eastern, USA. I've been spending less time scrolling and more time at my desk lately, and it made me realize I'd rather write a real letter than another text message.

This would actually be my first pen pal.

I'm a photographer and artist, but I'm also the kind of person who can't seem to stick to just one hobby. My desk is usually scattered with fountain pens, journals, bottles of ink, rubber stamps, vintage typewriters, and whatever creative project has caught my attention. Lately that's been learning French, mostly because I'd love to visit France someday.

I enjoy photography, bookstores, chess, coffee, museums, old things with stories behind them, and conversations that wander into unexpected places.

I don't think we need to have all the same interests. I'm just as interested in hearing about someone else's everyday life as I am talking about my own. How wonderful and cozy it would be in correspondence with someone. Sharing your life and be heard or understood.
Emotions themselves weave your sentences one after the other and stop only because you might cause emotional overload to the other person, for the sake of keeping the relationship sane.
There is a physical sense of feeling of being heard in letter writing. I mean you can physically feel the other person’s concern and deep bonding.
I feel one has to be really lucky to be in correspondence with a genuine person.
I also feel there is no better source of strength and mental health than reading someone’s love in their handwriting.

Being online is less and less appealing these days, so I’m looking to connect with other queer folks who are interested in exchanging snail mail. Hi folks, I miss the days of snail mail but it's also been a long time since I had a penpal. However, I'm currently on leave from work and would like to spend this time sending (and receiving!) some postcards (and/or short letters).

I would like to start slow and small (in the true spirit of snail mail!) and then if we find we have a natural conversation flow it can develop into regular, ongoing letters.

Open to anywhere in the world (outside of Western Canada as I think it would be weird if we lived near each other and had each other's addresses) but strictly platonic connections!

~I am a 46/f originally from Southeastern Connecticut and went from city life to country life in Pennsylvania in a matter of 6 months. I am still trying to get the house settled.

~I live with my boyfriend and between us we have 5 kids. 4 boys and 1 girl. Ages ranging from 22 to 16 years old. We have 2 dogs, a schnaug (miniature schnauzer and pug) as well as a Maltese poodle and papillion mix. We also have 2 cats that aren't a year old yet and are sisters as well as 4 fish.

I like to listen to music.

~I have a lot of trauma so that all in itself makes me a survivor. I have many things going on with me health wise and mentally but I am a good listener and a good friend.
