Hi everyone!

I happened to walk by P&M on Orange Street on the evening of July 22 and saw a group of people performing outside.

They were absolutely amazing! The singing was beautiful, the music was fantastic, and the whole atmosphere was so much fun.

I was wondering if they were an invited band, a local group, or just people getting together for an impromptu jam session. If anyone knows the name of the band, the singers, or where I can find more information about them, I'd love to know! Their performance was incredible, and I'd definitely love to hear them again!!!🥰🥰

I'm currently enrolled in a graduate biology class at Yale and my project involves studying the multiplication rate of Mosquitos and its effect on neighboring habitats.

I was wondering if anyone is able to make any suggestions on how to increase the hatch rate of mosquitos. What factors could potentially inhibit or destroy the eggs if I were to breed them in my backyard?

Oh and by the way, I think my neighbor is stalking me. I'd hate to call the cops on him, but is there a hotline for this kind of thing?

Found a young mother cat near the intersection of Orange St and England Drive, down on the stairs leading to the trail. She let me pick her up and transport her in my car with no issues. Way too comfortable with people to be feral, she was purring and grooming herself in my lap, enjoying the cuddles. Unfortunately because she is actively nursing I had to return her to where I found her. She at least got a good meal. She is dirty and flea ridden but has a wonderfully sweet disposition. I left a carrier with towels and food nearby for her so I hope to find her and the kittens tomorrow. If you recognize her please leave a comment.

Update 1: Good and bad news folks. After returning tonight, we found the mother cat for a second time. She again easily allowed us to capture her. This time we brought a cat carrier and walked around with her meowing, hoping the kittens would respond. We searched for over 2 hours but couldn't find any sign of them. Time is of the essence to find them if they're still out there. I ask for your help, friends! If you find yourself near East Rock Park, especially around the high school, bridge, or surrounding residential area, please keep your eyes and ears open. if you see or hear kittens, try to get them if you are able, but if not take note of your location. If you respond here I will go investigate. I hope to find the kittens as soon as possible and reunite this family.

The mother cat seems to be doing well but I have some concerns. She has an absessed wound under her tail I didn't catch before. We bathed her as she was filthy. She allowed us to without a fight. She is very thin and has several other minor injuries. We are getting her care in the morning. Otherwise she seems to be in good spirits, is eating, and remains very sweet. Please continue cheering her on. I will post an update soon.

New Haven Sandlot is looking for some new players! We're made of two teams (Society & Char) that play each other, as well as other teams across the northeast. We're co-ed and no experience is needed! Also very LGBTQ+ friendly- EVERYONE is welcome!

Practices are usually on Tuesdays at 5:30 at Amrhyn Field. Sometimes we practice on the weekend too but that can vary with the game schedule.

Any recs for a nail salon in the New Haven area that does a great spa pedicure? I'm talking the whole deal with massage, hot towels, exfoliating scub, etc.

I've gone to Day Night Nail Spa in Hamden a couple times for a few manicures and one pedicure, and have had mixed experiences. I also don't like the atmosphere. Feels like being in Forever 21.

I take Whitney all the way from downtown up to skiff in order to get home in hamden. How does it look currently?

A couple of months ago, I recorded a video of an employee at a local 3-store bakery who consistently provides fantastic service. I got the employee’s consent to record and share it with my neighbors in a major New Haven residential complex to highlight their great work.

However, I haven't spoken to the bakery owners, and the employee doesn't know I'm considering posting the video here on Reddit.

Is this kind of video and unsolicited praise allowed on Reddit and in the r/NewHaven sub? Also, what’s the consensus on posting something like this publicly without checking with the business owners first?

This may be a long shot but looking to see if anyone has seen the below bike. I was out of town for the last 1-2 weeks and upon my return my bike was gone. They left my helmet and U-lock. Presumably stolen the first or second week of July. Stolen from back deck of East Rock residence.

The bike is a 2018 Giant Escape 3 (Size: Medium) (Color: Matte Black/Graphite-Gold)

It also has a parking pass sticker on it from Indiana University: Bloomington.

This was my college bike and holds sentimental value. (Pictured with front wheel removed)

Please let me know if you see or hear anything.

Filing a police report with NHPD and sending emails to the local shops as well.

My 100+ has some quirks that we want to make sure are just aging and not something else structurally. Worried about using a company that also sells remedies to any structural problems. Wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a structural engineer who could come out and checkout our house to ensure structural integrity.

I think there’s a real need for good shared living or co-housing options for the 50+ crowd—a setup for people who want community and shared space without giving up their independence.

This is year 2 of a project called Trash to Fashion. The second annual workshop and ball at Bregamos Theater is scheduled for this Saturday 7/25. This is a free event (family-friendly) and there is still space to attend. We are still looking for some help with event set-up. Not ideal if you have mobility issues because this will involve moving objects around like chairs and tables. But, there are other areas you can help with if that is the case, just note that in the form.

This is a fun, casual event. You don't need experience to attend; there will be artists and designers to help attendees utilize materials to create something. You can also just show up and dance if you don't feel like creating something. Message me if you have questions : )
