Does anybody else feel like Stamford just lacks soul/identity. If you go in most other cities the different neighborhoods are completely different experiences with different traditions, cultures, and people. However in Stamford whether you’re in downtown, harbor point, glenbrook, or anywhere else it feels 100% the same for the most part. It really feels like a haven set up to house NYC commuters who all wish they could live in NYC. Looking to see if anybody disagrees, and why they disagree because I’d love to see it in a different light.

Indoor or outdoor, I really don’t care. The closest course is Calf Pasture and it’s fine, but it’s pretty small and basic. Stamford feels like the perfect place for a fun themed mini golf spot. There are so many families here and plenty of adults looking for something fun to do that doesn’t revolve around drinking. Throw in an arcade or even a bar and I feel like it would make a ton of money. Honestly, throw it in the mall, that place could definitely use something that actually gets people through the doors. We always talk about needing more things to do in Stamford and this seems like such an obvious one. Anyone else agree?

Every day when I look for a parking spot at work, I always see this space being saved by someone, yet there’s no signage for the disabled or anything like that. Is it normal to just save a spot like that for no reason, or is it something that warrants a fine?

Has anyone else experienced crazy rent renewal increases in the downtown apartment buildings? I live in an older building downtown and just received a 14% rent increase.. in the past, it’s only gone up 1-4%.

It’s upsetting to me that most if not all bus stops in Stamford do not offer shelter from the elements. I saw people waiting in the rain yesterday and while that was an extreme situation it highlighted the lack of basic public transportation infrastructure.

The city clearly has a traffic congestion issue, but you’ll hardly entice anyone to use public transportation if they cant even wait without having no where to sit, being exposed to rain, snow, wind, the sun.

Ive contacted reps but nothing changes. I know some city officials peep this sub sometimes. Just voicing it here too

Another home down the street got hit about 30 minutes prior to this strike, because 5 or 6 fire engines showed up to that house. Luckily we didn't need any of that.

In case you are wondering, a close lightning strike isn't nearly as loud as one some distance away. It was just a very sharp CRACK, flash, and a big puff of smoke.

Has anyone found a really GOOD tmj massage therapist in the area, who understands tmj issues more than a generalist?

My family and I are looking for a new veterinarian for our dog after a really disappointing experience with Rippowam Animal Hospital.

We’ve been clients there for about two years, but their office management and communication during our most recent experience made us decide it’s time to move on.

I called to have my dog’s NexGard prescription sent to Costco Pharmacy, and after being hung up on three separate times, I finally got through. Instead of simply taking a message for the person who authorizes prescriptions, I was told they couldn’t leave a message and that I would have to keep calling back during specific hours. Since I work full-time, playing phone tag isn’t exactly easy.

To make matters worse, they later texted me information for the wrong medication (Simparica Trio instead of NexGard). I also explained that Costco could only accept the prescription directly from the veterinarian by phone —they would not accept a faxed prescription or paper prescription from me.

Even after explaining that, they still wouldn’t simply pass the message along to the appropriate person.
The whole experience was incredibly frustrating and left me feeling like getting a routine prescription refill was far more difficult than it needed to be.

So, we’re looking for a new vet that’s responsive, has good communication, and is easy to work with when it comes to prescription refills and general care. We don’t mind driving a bit outside of Stamford if the quality of care is worth it.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations (or places you’d avoid). Thank you!
