Discussion Beat ~283 billion toughness with a 17-power swing
galleryMy opponent went completely off with Hare Apparent, Ouroboroid, and Elspeth—hundreds of creatures, with most of them capped at 1,073,741,823 toughness each, or roughly 283 billion total toughness.
They passed the turn at 10 life instead of killing me. I topdecked Ultimecia, Temporal Threat, which tapped their entire army on entry. Authority of the Consuls gained them 1 life, putting them at 11, but they still had zero available blockers.
I swung for 17 and won with them at −6.
Apparently the answer to 283 billion toughness is simply: tap all creatures.

Discussion Hulk, Brutal Brawler, why is it so expensive??
Doesn't seem like a 40-50$ card to me. Is this just the marvel tax?
EDIT: This is TCGPlayer pricing and it's priced much lower for Card Kingdom. Seems to be only available in welcome decks and collector boosters. Thank you!

Rules Question Tournament rules regarding B.O.
At my local game store there's this guy who shows up irregularly. Got matched against him 1st round of pauper and he was playing Turbo fog. Immediately when I sat down the extreme odor of foul smelling cottage cheese along with concentrated industrial strength vinegar overcame my sense of smell. Every breath was a struggle, and he kept casting fog every turn prolonging the game.
I lost, but would like to know what the rules are regarding smelly players in a tournament as I believe some are abusing bad B.O. to gain an advantage over their opponent. His deck was fully foiled out, so I do not believe poverty is an issue.
Can a player be disqualified for bad BO? Any advice is appreciated.

Rules Question UPDATE: New to mtg; did bf cheat?
Okay sooo apologies to everyone who put their time and effort into reading my last post because I made a looot of errors in there (please forgive me I am still new and reading all the comments taught me a lot…)
So my bf spent the last 10 minutes laughing at my past post because of how confusing I worded everything. He also said he is suing for defamation😅Anyways here is his update (let him write it to avoid anyyy more confusion)
“Hey everyone BF here, what happened was I played a kill spell on a creature that had infect so I would not take poison counters BEFORE BLOCKS and then I said no blocks because there were no poison counters to worry about. And then in her second main phase she played a counterspell and said I want to counter you killing my creature, and I said okay I’m going to block it, but she still insisted that I had the poison counters. then and then it all went to shit :( . The misunderstanding came from the fact that I did not teach her how the stack and counter spells work 👍”
He also wanted me to point out that my commander is Atraxa: Praetor’s Voice (proxied to have my cat’s face on it)

Discussion I miss the discussion boards from The Gatherer. So, here's A/B/U cards for us to comment on: #1 Animate Wall
The discussion boards from The Gatherer were a great place for jokes, combos and goofy commentary about cards I had no idea existed. It was a fantastic way to get a read on how a card might be useful, or if it was secretly trash.
So, I've decided to try and resurrect that feeling here! I'll be posting cards from A/B/U in alphabetical order. Feel free to enjoy/laugh at the art, comments on the rules, marvel the clumsiness and look for hidden fun!
So, we start the party with Animate Wall, which is already terrible out of date since Walls aren't a thing anymore (see Defender)

Discussion The Secret Lair Bundle Struggle
Unsure what flare to use but honestly I just wanted to rant. I have been trying for 4 days now, using two different trackers and HotStock to try and get the secret lair bundle for reality fracture and every time it just sells out on Amazon in literally 10 seconds. How the heck is that possible? I have been playing mtg for a few years and usually tend to buy stuff on release not preorder that often so is this really the norm? It’s kinda whack and crazy! Especially since I don’t want to spend an extra 100 dollars ordering it somewhere else. Just insane I guess and wanted to know thoughts and opinions or if I’m just being a complainer.

Discussion Curious about a part of Beorn's ability
I'm really excited about Beorn, he's the bear commander I've always wanted! One thing I'm curious about is what purpose does his ability to make creatures a bear serve? Most people are more than likely going to use him as a commander or in the 99 of bear tribal, so the only use I can think of is allowing you to use some generically good green creatures and let them benefit from tribal synergies. Can you think of any more creative ways to utilize this part of his ability?

Discussion Etiquette re: Mana Rocks
A little pretext. I was playing EDH recently and on turn two opponent to my left dropped a sol ring, me untapped was having none of that and killed it.
Player got pissed and scooped saying it was rude to target rocks.
I have never heard that before. I don’t usually play land removal, but rocks and dorks (llanowar elves, etc) have always been fair targets.
Am I wrong, AITAH??

Discussion why dont we just play weak deck on casual games?
when i play casual games everyones striving to win as if their life depends on it and have all the insane cards in their decks and even proxies to copy those cards to make really hard to beat decks when its just a game for shits and giggles cant we just buy bulk and like make silly decks with those cards as if we were a bunch of 10 year old children trying to impress our older cousin?
i recently bought a box full of cards (it has like 1000 something cards) from someones bulk and i grabbed a couple of human creatures and spells that work within those creatures and other creatures i could go up against with this deck and only basic lands cuz thats what was on the bulk and made a fun little deck to play and ive noticed that when i use those against begginners and share with them the other decks ive made this way they usually have TONS of fun and even some more experienced players sometimes.
i feel like casual games are not actually casual but more of a "ill be an asshole but a friendly asshole". i might just have a skill issue tho and i do know i suck terribly at this game but i sincerely feel liike this kinda thing would really be cooler sometimes.

Rules Question Am I cheating? Effects happening at the same time and choosing the order
galleryI recently got the Timey Wiley precon and there’s a co mbination that I’ve been doing. Basically, when I attack with Rose Tyler. The Doctor sees that and I begin exiling until I suspend something. Then after his ability Roses triggered and she gets her time counters from the doctors suspended card. The way I understand the rules, when abilities or effects trigger at the same time, you can choose how they go on the stack. Am I right or have I been cheating?

Discussion I feel like I’m doing visiting my LGS wrong
I just go like once a week and buy a handful of boosters and leave. It just feels weird? Is it just bad social anxiety? I try to go to Friday Night Magic when I can and I want to try more prerelease events. got back into magic about a month ago and not confident enough yet to do a real draft.
I Have a Question / I need Help Need help IDing these boxes
A friend who buys old storage units sent me this photo because he knows I play. What am I looking at here? It looks like the middle box is still sealed.
Edit: Yes I am aware of the set symbol for the middle being Mirage, but which product is it? It doesn't appear to be the booster box, starter deck box or any gift box I've seen.
