I’m 19 years old and looking to move out from my family home.

I have about 2,700 saved since November last year and was just wondering how much more I would need to save and just some basic advice how to deal with moving out alone.

I live in Herefordshire, England.
I am currently employed and work part time (4-5 days a week) and get paid every 2 weeks.

Is it normal that property managers or listing agents make you pay even before seeing the house?
Someone told me that I had to pay, get approved to secure the place and I haven't seen it yet...
I feel taken advantage of.

Is this normal practice or is it a new form of scam?

Hello all , just want to vent I want to move really bad and I just feel stuck , because I really don’t think financially wise I can afford a place after maybe the first month , I do have a car but it was either car or move and I’m regretting getting a car .. I feel as if my family is holding me back as well as wanting me to stay home . I just want to move with my baby.

I just feel like I’ve been so mean and stressed about it because I think my job is not supporting me enough but I just really don’t even know .

But here's the catch. I have a house in Little Rock and it's been rented out for a few years, but the tenants moved out last month. Now it's sitting empty…

And I have to sell it. Fast. Like, two weeks fast…

So I called a few real estate agents. Every single one said two weeks is impossible. Minimum 30-45 days, no matter what. Great…

So I started looking at other options. I saw one of those "we buy houses for cash" places and they claim they can close in as little as 7 days. No repairs, no showings, no waiting.

But how real is that? Does a 7-day closing actually happen?

I've also heard stories about these companies giving you an estimate and then lowering it at the very last minute. That's what I'm scared of. I know I won't get full market value. I get that cash buyers pay less. That's fine. I just don't want to be taken advantage of when I'm under pressure

I turn 17 in a few days and while I have a family that loves me and says they will pay for my college and I can stay with them while I go to school, I have no desire for that. I’m living in central Arkansas and I wouldn’t mind staying in the area but i also wouldn’t mind getting away a few miles to where I won’t run into them. I really just need a small place to live either that a freshly 18 year old can put a reasonable down payment on and finance or rent a place for amount that is livable. Any areas that fit that description. (I’m currently in Conway AR)

Looking for minimum essentials (everything is furnished) so figure need : electronic, documents/papers, clothing work and personal, some sentimental decorations, bedding, toiletries (may be these when I arrive), my rocking chair for coffee/tea in the balcony. Anything else important? And things that can be bought little by little over time?

What do you guys advise me to prepare on before moving out of my family's home?

I'm extremely exhausted from all my family drama and how much they "depend" on me for everything. I also just want to restart somewhere else with independency and happiness. I intend to move out to live with my friend who live in a different state, and I only make so much money about 600$ a month if i were to save right.

I just want to know what should I do before actually moving away especially since this is a totally new state I've only visited once as a vacation. I'm also in college so I don't know what to do there as well, it's just a lot and I don't want to be stressed or have to come back to my family because it didn't work out :(

I'm trying to get away from my abusive family, but I'm stuck on SSI because of my PTSD from living with them and I'm very isolated. My budget is tight, and I have a bunny that I need to bring with me.

I don't have anyone in my life to support me. Every local resource I've contacted has been painfully underfunded and unhelpful. The system is just oversaturated, and I'd like to stay out of a shelter for the time being. I've been searching for other survivors close to my age in need of community, or just people in general who understand how valuable mutual support is and might also want to share housing. My idea is to group up and rent a large house so that the cost of living is closer to affordable for me and I'll have the space I need for my bunno. I know what I'm looking for is freaking rare, but I seriously can't be the only one on a fixed income looking for this kind up setup.

Has anyone found support outside the system? In what ways can I find the right people?

Any abstract ideas, platforms, channel names, or Facebook groups where it would be appropriate for me to advertise are appreciated. I'm not even looking locally anymore; I've broadened it to the entirety of the state I'm in. Im a 17 F and I have the chance to move to another country in europe and my parents support it but if I move I would have to face dealing with my relatives and they are very strict and treat their women and daughters like shit. My family allows me to express myself and wants me to be educated. But they get easily influenced by others opinions especially if it comes from my uncles Im scared that I wouldnt be able to be free but moving to that country is such a great opportunity.If I dont move Ill have to stay stuck living with my parents which I dont want. Hi, I've never made a reddit post before but im not sure what to do and im hoping for advice, or to magically figure this out once ive written everything down. I (20) am currently living with my younger sister, my mom and her, now, ex-boyfriend of 5 years. For context, my parents split up 6 years ago, and live in different cities. My dad's house is close to my work and I dont drive, but i stay there most days since it is close to my bus route. I have been switching between the 2 houses and cities for 6 months now.

I already dont like living with either of them. My father (47) is an alcoholic who cant keep his home clean. I dont think he owns any cleaning supplies other than a broom and he has lived in his place for 3 years now. There is always a smell and piles of garbage/dishes. Granted, he has gotten less verbally abusive since the split, but he is still always determined to be "right". His friends are also creeps who have said some weird things to me.

My mom (50) is emotionally immature in a way that has driven me insane my whole life. She talks almost exclusively in a baby/goofy voice and goes out drinking with her friends on weekend and comes home at 5 am almost blackout drunk. She is also unemployed, and hasn't had even a part-time job in 8 years. Both she and my sister think all my interests are stupid and dumb and that I care too much about things, which really impacts me negatively.

For example, im a huge swiftie. But I dont talk about her that much, because whenever I do, they talk about how horrible her music, personality and character are, and my mom actually banned her music in the house for years. They bring up my interests more than me to ridicule, but if I bring something up in earnest, they get angry and my sister does a performative dissociation.

I dont know what to do, I dont want to continue living with my mom and sister, but I also want to stop living with my dad. I dont have any friends looking to move out, and im not comfortable sharing a home with a stranger. Im only working part time right now, 3 days a week, around 18 an hour, but have a good chance of full-time in September.

Im also a student, so between that and me being somewhat physically disabled (I have to use a cane to walk/stand for an extended amount of time) so i dont have the time or opportunities for a second job.

If I want to live alone near my work, it would cost around $1,400-$1,800 a month, which i cannot afford. But if I were to stay with my mom, she expects me to pay half of the rent for a 3-bedroom and 1 bath, which would cost around $2,400-$2,900 total.

I feel like i have no options, though realistically I have a bunch I guess. I have no one i want to talk to about this, so I figured I would come here 🫶

Hi, i’m 23 years old and for 3 years i’ve been wanting to move out of my mom’s house. it’s not like she does anything wrong, i love her to death. but since i am her only child, all my life up until now i feel coddled and don’t feel like much of an adult, even when i pay my own bills, she’ll kind of down play it as if the bills i pay rn aren’t “big girl bills.” my friend is looking to get her own place by Sept and she’s honestly just trying to be in a relatively cheap apartment too, not something lavish where it’s out of our budget and asked if i would be down to be her roommate. and honestly just looking at the cost for both of us to split, on top of the rest of my recurrent monthly bills, i really could afford to do it. what’s really holding me back is my mom persuading me not to move out and in her words she’d say “why would you want to move out and start paying rent when you could just live here for free?” it’s not about just paying rent though. it’s really just about having my own freedom and a bunch of other things that makes sense to me and why i want to move. but because i’m young, i do want to get some perspective of those who moved out at my age at some point, those who recently just moved out of their parents house and if you regret it or not?

So i have a bad household and i want to be able to move out but how do i get a job and move out ASAP when i turn 18? i want to move out instantly and never go back. how would i be able to afford a cheap apartment?

Hello. Actually this past few months I’ve been thinking on actually moving in a City. I am a 2nd year college student and there’s this thing inside me that I badly want to move and start a new life in a city. Aware naman din ako on how hard things might actually be but I'm really eager to start a new life.

Any tips or advice? I am actually struggling financially rn, I do plan to work while studying to earn some money and save before I move next year (hopefully). What should I expect before I move and how much would the weekly or monthly living costs would be sa city? If you guys know, how much would an apartment/dormitory would cost too? And also, would it be possible to work while studying?
