Just got my first bike and put 40 miles in 2 days

Kind of as the title explains, I’m going to be going on a 900-mile round-trip and just looking for any advice on what I should do to prepare before I leave. I’ve already had a full service on the bike a couple of days ago. I’m leaving Friday morning, and it’ll be my first long ride. I’ve ridden in town for almost a year now and put about 1200 miles on the bike in that time, gone on the highway quite a bit, but just never for this long. Pic of bike included (Ninja 500) just in case anyone is wondering what my highway time is like. I’ve been on the highway for 400 of the 1200 miles, but they are strictly old one-lane highways that weave through mountains. Any advice is much appreciated. 🙏🏼

Hello! I have just signed up to get lessons in order to get my motorcycle license! As part of my plan, I'm thinking to buy a motorcycle in order to practice at home. Sure, I can't legally drive it on the road, but from what I understand the most difficult part of riding a motorcycle is doing so at lower speeds, and that I'll be able to practice.

Obviously, I'm wanting to buy the kind of motorcycle I'd love to ride when I've got my license. And top of my list has been a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 for around 4088$. Seems fair enough, I think? But then I've been reading up on here and lots of people seem to point out that Enfields are quite weak. Based on google, it seems the bike can reach around 120 km/h? That seems plenty. I'm not some speed-demon wanting to go 300km/h down the highway. But I'm assuming top speed is something a bike will struggle to do, no? I don't think I've ever reached my cars top speed, so I'm assuming the Enfield will cruise somewhere between 80-100?

With that said, I haven't had my first lessons yet, so I don't wanna get ahead of myself, of course. But I'm fixing to buy a bike and I'm just curious what else I could look at? I'm not married to the Enfield brand so much as I love the look of them. A Classic 650 more so than the Meteor, but still. I'm also into the look of some Scramblers and such. But ideally, I'd want a bike that's nice to ride for longer distances, as well. I'm not really mechanically savvy and that kinda worries me. Nothing I cannot learn, I suppose. But uh... is there like a brand that's notoriously low maintenance? I'd love a Classic-looking bike that's also very safe, and which I can, more often than not, just jump on and go without having to worry too much about the chain snapping, the spokes being uh... bent? the bearing inside the wheel or whatever it is called exploding and chucking the wheel sideways out from under me. Lots of stuff I'm worried about. Therefore, I'd love it if there was a notoriously reliable kind of bike. But that might not exist? I don't know, I'm gonna keep googling, but I'd love to hear from people who are out riding them, too.

5. If you could magically fix one recurring problem about motorcycle trips, what would it be?

Can they be buffed out, or something like that? This wasn't from a crash. I accidentally scraped it on a concrete wall while I was carrying it.

Hey everyone, I have a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 that’s making a loud grinding/whining noise only while the bike is in the process of starting. As soon as the engine fires up, the noise disappears and the bike runs normally.
It’s much louder on a cold start, especially if the bike has been sitting for a couple of days. If I restart it after it’s warm, the noise is much quieter or sometimes barely noticeable.
The bike starts every time and runs fine otherwise. I’ve already replaced the spark plugs, but the startup noise is still there.
Does this sound like a bad starter motor, starter clutch, starter gears, or something else? Has anyone experienced this before?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Was driving just now in Placentia CA and drove past a wreck. Major road with a 50mph speed limit. Looks like a car turned left in front of the bike. No idea who was at fault but either way they had the whole street blocked off with police vehicles, crime scene tape and a rider was under a blanket while his totaled bike was 75 yards down the road, shoes on the opposite lanes of traffic as investigators took photos. Keep your eyes open and stay safe out there. RIP to the rider who passed.

Dumped my clutch in second gear thinking I was in first to attempt a wheelie now the bike makes this sound when revving, clutch pulled in or not. Also notable loss of power in the bike. Checked front sprocket, all good. Next thought is the CCT… any thoughts.

If there's one bike you want to keep forever, would it be R7 or ZX4R?
