Update on Milwaukee Pro Soccer?

Upvotes

After the World Cup I want to do a better job supporting local soccer in the country. I noticed we had a USL Championship expansion team announced a few years ago, with a deferred 2026 launch date. That’s the last bit of news I can find, and it doesn’t seem like that is happening. Does anyone know the status of this new team? The most recent post from milwaukeeprosoccer.com is from 2023, and no formal team name or branding has been announced

Vintage Clothes, Vinyl, Retro Decor at Holy Hill Antique Market on Saturday!

Upvotes

One of the biggest and best that is often over looked with 200+ vendors! Not to be missed! The 37th annual huge antique flea market this Saturday, July 25 from 7am to 3pm. Just $2 parking! Gorgeous drive and setting! Anything and everything you can think of can be discovered there; it's NOT one of those filled with modern, China-made stuff. If you love Elkhorn, you'll love this event! Holy Hill in Hubertus.

I’m sure there will be some organizing by other leaders in the community, but we need to put something together for Madison and for the injustice that occurred to that man. They haven’t released his name, and there are more links if you wish to see what occurred. In the Wisconsin Reddit thread.

Has anybody navigated this building and couldn’t message and put me in the right direction? It’s a little embarrassing where I need to go, but maybe somebody else experience going there…

Any guidance and messages would be helpful thank you

Help Me! Where to access a community sewing machine?

I bought a cute top on super discount at walmart and realized that they changed their sizing metrics and there's not way I can squeeze myself in it (it's like 6 inches slimmer than what is considered industry standard) and I need to access a sewing machine in order to put panels/godets in to it make it fit. I'm up here for college but on break, so I can't access the university's machine. I checked the city library's website to see if they had one but it didn't seem like they do aside from some sewing lessons, which I have no need for. Is there any library or place in the area that has a community sewing machine that I can commandeer for like two hours at some point in the future?

Fixture Pizza - has the recipe changed

Used to rave about Fixture pizza. Would keep eating till I was in physical pain from being so full because every bite felt worth it to me.

Went today.. extremely disappointed. Did they change the crust recipe or what? Anyone feel similar since being back after the reopening?

Just wondering if just an off night and worth going back..

FIXTURE WINGS MARKED SAFE. STILL GOOD ASL.

Help Me! OPEN CALL: Seeking short films by AAPI filmmakers (Paid screening opportunity at Cactus Club here in MKE!)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm currently an artist in residence at Cactus Club through their in-person artist residency program, In the Clouds. Part of this residency is producing/organizing a community event, of which I've decided to organize a screening event featuring short films by Asian-American filmmakers.

I need your help to make this screening successful by submitting to my open call, which can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScLc7CfAnXRjzFaEfoDgC30z_BwVrSlYZkzJZi7V1ee2eMzeQ/viewform

Here are some quick details about the submission form:

DEADLINE: August 3rd @ 11:59PM CST

Film(s) submitted must be less than 30 minutes in length

Paid opportunity: $250 will be split between accepted filmmakers

If you have Asian heritage (South, West, North, East... all the little overlaps in between, and mixed) you are welcome to share your work.

There is no narrative restriction: I really want to emphasize that there are a diversity of narratives to be shared from the Asian-American community.

The form itself has some more information about the artist residency, along with my contact information if you have any inquiries. I encourage you to share this with the people in your life who might be interested in submitting.

Some other stuff that just contextualizes this open call:

This follows a stint of organizing screenings locally, but I kept thinking to myself about the ways in which I can better support my Asian-American creative community. I am Filipino-American myself, and to me, practicing this community engagement is critical to practicing kapwa, or togetherness.

If you don't have a short film to submit but have any suggestions of where else I can post this call, don't be a stranger and let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read this post! :)

Medicaid Memory Care

Does anyone have recommendations for a memory care or even dementia friendly assisted living that accepts Medicaid upon admission? My mother is on Medicaid and I’m not altogether pleased with her current assisted living facility but I think finding proper care may be harder under her circumstances (we have been struggling to find another place working with MyChoice case worker). I suspect the lack of support is not unique to her facility but have any of you had loved ones on Medicaid who found good care?

(Adding 1. I was her caregiver and it was destroying my life, I’m an only child with no family support and I visit her daily now that she is in a facility and 2. there are some very sweet caregivers where my mom is, not trying to drag them, but overall the level of care is incredibly disappointing and I’m stunned by how bad the admin is).

The amount of NIMBY Hong supporters around St. Francis is befuddling.

Drove through St. Francis today for the first time in a month or so and saw a ton of houses with both Hong signs and anti-apartment construction signs; seems bizarre to support both the most left-wing candidate in the gubernatorial primary then also endorse a deeply conservative ideology like NIMBYism.

Especially since Hong is focusing her campaign on affordability. Housing would be a lot more affordable if we could build apartments everywhere & not have it take several years of city council review in order to do so.

Lele the Lyft Driver

If Lele, a Lyft driver is in this subreddit, or if anyone knows her, please share this with her.

Yesterday, Tuesday July 21st, you picked up my son, R, at around 12:15pm. To take him to the animal hospital. With our sweet cat, Shmoopy, who was hours from death. It didn’t occur to me to request a pet ride. I was crying so hard I could barely see.

And I want to thank you for not canceling. I know you had every right to cancel. Especially since you are allergic to cats.

We went to bed Monday night knowing Shmoopy wasn’t going to live to see 2027. But that she wouldn’t live past 1pm yesterday? It wasn’t on our mind. And when we woke up Tuesday? She wasn’t great. But then she began having seizures. And we knew we couldn’t wait for the vet appointment.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. And my sons. You got them there safely. And Shmoopy was finally free of pain. And it sucks. This is the worst part of having pets. And you helped make the worst day of this year just a tiny bit easier. So thank you so much.
