Ok is this an unlucky face thing or what. Tonight my driver hit arrive when he was still 3 minutes out, then somehow marked me as picked up when he was 1 minute away. So the app thinks I’m already in the car, cozy, on my way home. Meanwhile I’m just standing on the curb like an idiot watching his little icon slowly approach.

Then he calls. Three times. Asking me to come meet him 30m down the road. I don't get it. Is this a new type of scam or something?

Genuinely feels like it only happens to me. Maybe it’s the time I finish work? Like some cursed hour where drivers just start pressing buttons at random. I finish late and every single time it’s some variation of this.

Not even mad at this point, just confused. Am I doing something? Do I look like the kind of person who’s already in the car. Anyway, still standing here. This is my 2nd Grab post. Lol.

I'm in a really awkward position right now.

Last year, my mom used me as a co-borrower for a RM1.7 million property loan (Shoplot) not a house. At the time, neither my mom nor I realized it would have such a significant impact on my future financial applications.

Fast forward to now: I've been working for over a year and recently applied for a credit card. I've been rejected by three different banks. One of them specifically mentioned insufficient repayment capability (affordability).

After doing some research, I think the issue is my Debt Service Ratio (DSR). Since I'm listed as a co-borrower on a RM1.7 million mortgage, the monthly commitment is around RM9,000–10,000. My current income is nowhere near enough to support that level of debt, so it seems like the banks consider me to be overcommitted.

At this point, I'm worried that I won't be able to get a credit card or even qualify for future loans because of this. Talk to my mom about it she said she will ask her personal banker for help but I still think you cant bypass bank negara Malaysia system.

Has anyone been through something similar? What are my options? Would removing my name from the loan (or refinancing the property under someone else's name) be the best solution, or are there other ways to resolve this?

Okay here's the plan (well proposal anyway)

Rent : rent is high for people who don't want (or can't afford) to buy property. It does not need to be that high.

Food: food prices in KL can get absurd. Not many people in college can afford to eat out every day, or have the time to make their own meals and still have time for study and projects.

So what if we made a place where for some amount of money, you don't have to think about where to eat, what to eat, where to stay etc. There's internet and privacy and security so you can focus on your studies for the 3 or 4 years that it will take to get your degree.

That's one idea. Another possibility is a house for single people. A foreveralone house, if you want to put it that way. See people grow up and grow old, and some people find themselves alone in this world, and that's not a good thing, to be elderly and alone.

So same concept, we have a place, an apartment maybe. Maybe we have a cleaner and someone to cater to food and emergencies if necessary.

Not an "old folks home" but an independent living group. I've been to those "old folks homes" and they might as well be prisons. I'm sure we can do better than that.

   Not sure, but lower than market, because it will be subsidized.

Any other questions? our main problem really is going to be support, are we going to find people for this? It _should_ be easy if people say they want to lower the cost of living.

We'll need to set up a team of people to look for people who can qualify for this. Then we'll just execute and we'll have lowered the cost of living for a few people at least.

A very easy fish to keep and breed, they readily accept fish food and will lay eggs year round. Pairs defend their nests very protectively.

Monday dusk leading into the whole day will forever remain a special moment for me.

Growing up, I never fully understood the appeal of football. During weekends, my brother and dad would sit at the living room and hog the TV for hours, and deny my mom and myself any screen time or entertainment for their football sesh. So I grew up resenting the sport. No one one taught me the basics of football either, thus, I could never develop an interest in it. I simply knew

At some point in college, a female friend once said to me, "I don't get the point of football, it's just a bunch of guys chasing after balls." And I laughed alongside her, because I thought we were so "special" for not liking football. So you can imagine my surprise when I started getting into this year's World Cup at 33.

I sorta knew World Cup on the horizon around April after watching the PSG vs. Liverpool (?) match @ Al-Safuan mamak, Seapark one night, and that was how I got to witness the sheer influence football has on Malaysians, specifically guys lmao.

Then one night as World Cup was approximately 40% through, I had a serendipitous encounter with the World Cup crowd when I was out getting shawarma for supper and hoping to do some leisurely coloring on my adult coloring book. That night was the first time I unwittingly landed myself in a World Cup match, which very fortuitously happened to be EGY vs. ARG, and had a firsthand experience with the rumored ARG-rigged conspiracy. The crowd turnout fascinated me because it was a weekday at 1/2AM due to US time differences, and people actually sacrificed sleep time or took day offs the following day to watch.

While everyone cheered or jeered depending on who scored or lost, I continued coloring my book and looked up occasionally when the crowd started getting all riled up. In that moment, I also noticed one thing. It takes very little to make guys happy.

Just give (most of) them football, good food and drinks, put them side-by-side with other football fans, and you have a very happy husband or boyfriend. Keep them company as they watch the match, and they think they have the perfect wife/girlfriend. As a gay guy, this dynamic feels incredibly heartwarming to see. You can also tell a lot about someone based on they process each victory, losses, or goals, as well as the team they root for, I suppose.

The sociological impact of soccer on Malaysians piqued my interest, and after asking some gay bros online if they watched the World Cup too, someone recommended ENG vs. NOR, and knowing Declan Rice from ENG, I decided to watch it. Also because the Haaland rough housing memes were hilarious. So I did just that. Then two games eventually extended to ESP vs. FRN, then ENG vs. ARG.

ESP vs. FRN was the match that caught my eye and spoke to me so, so much, because ESP's playstyle was incredibly graceful and elegant. The control spoke to me, in particular Cucurella LMAO. I genuinely found Cucurella funny at first, but kept my eyes on him throughout that match and became a fan of his playstyle. I think this is a heavily slept-on player because much of the attention is focused on playmaking, scoring, and going on the offensive, whereas Cucurella's footwork is very much focused on prevention, defense, and heavy control. Apparently, ESP made FRN look like a child's play. I also had an inkling Spain might have stood a chance at winning the World Cup, but who was I to say anything because ARG was still there. And yes, the ENG vs. ARG was the moment I actually found something to hate on. What with Enzo being a complete a dickwad during semifinals, also with how ARG kept getting scot-free with their mistakes, and it took so little for ENG to get warned despite playing with class.

Those nights were the few times I genuinely forced myself to sleep early, then get up in time for the match. Though the sleep early part was in vain because I could sleep at 8PM and set an alarm for 2AM, but wind up getting up at 11:30PM and simply staring into the darkness for the remaining hours. Even got sick between Thursday leading up the finals lmaooo, thankfully I recovered in time to watch the finals just nice on Monday morning.

What's really interesting to see about the finals was, despite being set at 3AM, many Malaysians, based on soc med videos, showed up 5-6 hours ahead just to grab a spot. I had the waiters at the restaurant I was catching my finals calling me to arrive 3 hours ahead of time because tables were filling up fast. I wasn't about to sacrifice my health again, so I went about an hour earlier. I count my lucky stars because despite having no seats at first, I ended up with one a comfortable distance away from the large screen TV to watch. Then in-between, another single Chinese boy asked if he could sit with me and I shared my space with him, it turned out to be best night ever because we bonded over our mutual support for Spain and shared hatred for Argentina's arrogance and snobbishness. Not long after, a group of Burmese expatriates asked if they could join us, and I offered the spot as well. They were also supporting Spain.

It was kinda interesting to see how so many people, even globally had a hatred for ARG after their antics and wanted them gone. I even had reservations showing up to support Spain because I was afraid there would be more Argentina fans, and on finals night, anything could happen *cough* mamak fights *cough*.

Then the match happened. Everyone screamed, shouted, boo-ed, cheered at any or every possible goal. Even I couldn't bring myself to color my book nearing the last 15 minutes of the match. The first 90 minutes was genuinely nerve-wracking, and as much as I loved how ESP had a control over the flow, I was so worried about any ARG comebacks. Thankfully that didn't happen because we all know Torres (cutie btw) scored 1-0, then the rest was dragging it out, controlling (again Cucubae ftwwww). It's also kinda nerve-wracking when the live broadcast lags by a few seconds or a minute behind, then you have some highly nervous fans watching the match from their phone and screaming/cheering ahead of time so much that everyone looks at them.

By the last 5 minutes of the match, you can tell who was giving up. And the usually loud and obnoxious ARG fans would start despairing and heading off early. Then the inevitable victory for Spain came, and everyone, including myself stood up to cheer. It was really that sense of camaraderie that spoke to me.

Regardless of who we were that night, Chinese, Indian, Malay or a foreigner, we were all united by our shared love for Spain, and desire to bring down a "big bad." When Spain score, we cheered. When they won, we celebrated. When Enzo got booted off the match, we collectively clapped. And everytime ARG got a penalty for their childish antics, we laughed. At its core, I think what really brings people together as football is the fact that it is a social activity, and a very easygoing one at that. It's a great icebreaker, you can use it and speak to the stranger across your table on a random morning or night. During WC season, half the conversation on the streets are focused on the event. On Thursday night, while out getting appam, a bunch of Indian uncles were discussing who would win etc, match time, one of them even asked if I watched WC and who I supported. It's that effortless.

It's that sense of belonging too because you feel there's a place where you are accepted. WC 2026 probably united a lot more football fans than I've ever seen because of most people's shared disappointment against ARG players' lack of sportsmanship. When Spain won, every other team came together to congratulate them. People felt like Spain saved football, redeemed ENG, EGY, and also because they stood for everything that is politically sound and humane that ARG or the US didn't.

I'm really thankful for the boy whom I shared a table with for being patient, super extroverted to walk me through the thought process behind each movement or penalty. What the signboard with random numbers mean i.e. 21 - 7 (21 to be subbed with 7) etc. Because he and a few others were willing to show me the ropes, it became easy for me to be invested. We ended that morning by going out for breakfast and becoming friends. So yes, Monday will undoubtedly remain a special memory for me, and it's the first time in the longest time I've been able to feel this happy.

My only regret is I didn't learn of WC 2026 ahead of time, or I would have gladly considered purchasing a Cucurella official jersey from Adidas to wear with pride. I don't know if they're super costly or super limited, but I'd be willing to pay a hefty price to get them because I quite like this player for being so wholesome.

I heard Premier League is up next? Though I don't know much of it, and I imagine most ESP players are scattered across because some of them are drafted within UK and non-UK entities.

Hi all, I’m relocating with my cat from Singapore to Langkawi and was hoping to get clarity on whether Malaysia Airlines accepts pets as excess baggage on the Kuala Lumpur (KUL) -> Langkawi (LGK) domestic route.

The planned route is SIN -> KUL -> LGK.

I’ve already contacted Malaysia Airlines multiple times, unfortunately, the responses have been vague. They keep quoting me their pet policies (which says yes to transporting animals) but I still don’t have a straight yes/no answer about pets as excess baggage on this specific domestic leg.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone successfully flown their pet as excess baggage on the KUL–LGK route?
   
2. Is the aircraft used on this particular route climate controlled and has pressurized cargo hold for live animals since it’s a narrow body aircraft

I’m not looking for general policy links about paperwork requirements and vaccination status; I’ve read those. I’m hoping to hear from people who have actually done this route with pets, since written confirmation from the airline has been elusive.

Hi, my dad's birthday is coming up soon. I want to ask/survey what gift is suitable for him. Fyi, my dad loves doing brisk walk (no gym, just home exercise) and we already got him tons of tshirt for it as well as good shoes. So dont want a same gift anymore this time.
