If the writing is good, throw every god damned trope in existence at me. Dont ruin your story trying to be unique, instead just focus on the writing quality. People will read your stuff I promise, and more than if you spend all your creative bandwidth trying to come up with author pickme crap.

it seems so often books like DCC and such start litrpg, then after a few books your lucky if anythings mentioned in passing. I mean I'm fine with not having stats spammed, but we barley get even a, "I levled 3 times up and put 5 points into str."

If a series has more ebooks out than audiobooks, would you go read the ebook in the later books or would you wait until the next audiobook comes out?

Most LitRPG tend to fall into one of the following 4 categories:

- Isekai: MC from "our" world gets transported to a parallel/secondary world with magic

- Standard Fantasy: regular secondary fantasy world where system-based magic already exists

My favourite is probably isekai, just because it allows for the easiest, most natural way for the reader to slowly learn the rules of the world and the system.

Least favourite is VR because it feels like it has no stakes since it's not "real"

Hey guys, so here is the rules. You are not special in this scenario. No cool bloodlines and you end up with a basic class and barely survive the tutorial. But with this setup you get to choice were you are spawned back on Earth. You have no earthly attachments or family. As for your home the place is still intact but now filled with dungeons, monsters and badass humans coming back high level from the tutorial.

Alright, maybe I'm missing something. I just finished the first book and about halfway through the second, and I did try to go back through and skim the first one to see if I could find an answer before posting this (just in case I'm stupid)

Enjoying the story EXCEPT that the currency keeps annoying me. Everything $$ related past a certain point is in "mana stones" which are rated by tier - I'm assuming based on how much mana each stone holds? - and each stone theoretically worth Xyz credits. I'm assuming that these mana stones can actually be used as a source of mana, and that's the basis of their value on the market. How are these charged/produced, and how are they different than the rechargeable mana stones that the characters are carrying around as reservoirs? I know he has to hide his talent, but if the currency stones are the same, he could basically print his own money.

Just finished book 1 and really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and so was the writing, but I had some quibbles that I figured I would ask here so I can get a sense if I want to continue on with the journey.

Things I liked:

• The lore around the witch class. I highly doubt this is a controversial opinion. All of that stuff was great and intriguing, I really wanted to see if Brin would fall down this route.

• The sense of progression while Brin was trying to set himself up for class day.

• The characters and their interactions. Some moments work better than others, but in general I enjoyed getting to know the cast.

Things I was iffy on:

• The elaboration on Brin's (somewhat mundane) training. I didn't hate that he trained, but it felt like a lot of pages and word count were devoted to leveling up attributes and I ended up not being super enthused by those moments. However, I wonder how much of that is due to him being a kid that wasn't able to cast or engage in combat at all, really.

• Romance. Straight up: is it going to be a thing and how old will love interest(s) be? Author is very plainly aware of potential iffy situations here, but I do want to know if that's going to last.

• How a decision was handled in the end. I mean, if you know you know. I didn't hate it, exactly, but I am a little worried if the author will pull punches in the future.

You gotta imagine someone skirting the edge of the path deadline then their dungeon time slot comes up and their annoying nemesis is robbing a bank while monologuing about some master plan that’ll take weeks to sort out.

I have read he who fights with monsters,ascendancy shadow slave and lord of mysteries I really loved them and looking for more like them

Picked up the book 1, but I've been struggling with the MC, and with the system mechanics. It feels very frustrating to me for a couple of reason, mainly to do with the Challenge=Reward system, and the MC gimping himself. Maybe I'm missing something, but his actions feel like they don't make a ton of sense, given either his character, or the rules of the system.

Take refusing to level up, for example. He explains that he doesn't want to level up, because being underleveled will make fights harder, for more xp. Fine, that makes sense in a vacuum. But then, it's also explained that it isn't worth it to just continuously add arbitrary challenges to fighting low level mobs, because getting a higher percentage of a lower reward is generally worth less than a lower percentage of a higher reward.

Except, he's doing the same exact thing that he warns against in that. Using arbitrary challenges to fight small fry (compared to what he could be fighting). By staying underleveled, he is making himself take less efficient fights. He'll be at like, Novice 4, refusing to level up, and fighting a Novice 6. Except the moment that he does level up, now he's fighting Initiate 1s. Which he could have been doing if he had just leveled up in the first place.

Like, it's a progression fantasy. I want to see him level and get more complex, more interesting skills. Which, diagetically he could be doing. I want to see him fight more interesting monsters. Which he could be doing. Instead, it feels frustrating in both areas, as a lot of the fights that are supposed to be tense because of the added challenge, feel like the tension is undercut by the fact that MC could be stomping these fights if he actually took things seriously. And doubly frustrating because it feels like the MC keeps shoving the difficulty=xp speech in my face every single plot beat, so struggling to buy it, as the series has explained it feels like a constant irritation.

Maybe it's a me problem. I mean, I know, realistically, he would be facing the same fights, even if the gimping weren't a thing, they would just be a higher level, or the MC would level more slowly, but I am really struggling to suspend my disbelief. Which sucks. I want to like this world. It's a cool concept, and an awesome aesthetic. Should I grit my teeth, in hopes of a book 2 that feels more consistent, or is this a drop? I am really hoping this is just one of those "the author was finding their feet in book one" kind of series.

That said, I have a question for the longtime readers. I’m reading through the Kindle books, but I’ve seen a lot of people recommend the web serial instead. Am I missing out on anything important by sticking with Kindle? Were any scenes, chapters, or details cut or changed when the books were published?

I reviewed the series on Amazon and gave it a 5-Star rating, but since I couldn't find any good reviews of the series here on Reddit, I wanted to give it some love here as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. In fact, so much so that I couldn't put it down and I finished all 8 books in only 4 1/2 days. (I listened on Audible at 2x speed). Both the male and female narrators were awesome, easy to understand, and performed exceptionally well.

The story: I loved it! It's an excellent representation of the regression sub-genre of LitRPG and the authors absolutely keeps the story moving forward at a fast pace. The "character sheet" for the MC gets a little long after the first book, but I just skipped forward after hearing the main stats without missing anything important.

World building: Is it on the level the Tolkein or Sanderson, no. But it doesn't need to be. You have this setting superimposed over modern-day Earth with the same world history, etc. This just adds a "system" that has existed for an undefined amount of time in very recent history.

Characters: Both the MC and side characters were all fleshed out with complete personalities and well-defined motivations, etc.

Audiobook narration: I love the narrators for this series. Daniel Wisniewski also narrates Mage Tank and absolutely nails it in both series. The female narrator is Elizabeth Plant and she does an amazing job and makes every single female character stand out. There were about 6 or 7 prominent male and female characters each, and I never once had any problem knowing which character was speaking for either narrator. Top talent!

In conclusion, I highly recommend this series for anyone that likes to read LitRPG, and especially so for those that love regression LitRPG!

I started reading "Loop Bound" by Alex Keys yesterday. I'm on book two now and loving it.

Basic overview. System apocalypse with OP MC starting in a tutorial setting.

Writing, pacing and world building is solid so far. Best part about it IMO is the characters. The author does a good job of fleshing them out. Mira is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites.
