Question Lego pieces?

Post image

Just went through my old stash of Lego from the 90’s and wasn’t really sure are these Lego pieces or not (toy car as reference).

Mind you the box included also fire crackers, some marbles and a rusty nail(?) so could be anything

Question Keeping boxes

I don't need to keep the LEGO boxes, do I?

It's not like I plan to sell them, or disassemble the sets and put them back into the box. I'm not going to display the box, especially since I bought the LEGO to build and display. I already have limited room, and even more of it is being taken up by the box from the Enterprise set.

Other I think that I may be getting too old for lego

(sorry in advance if i sound weird, English isn't my first language)

I (16M) have been a huge fan of lego for a few years now. i usually buy ninjago sets, but i also sometimes get sets from other themes. I honestly just buy whatever sets i personally like.

but anyway, ever since i started getting into lego at around age 11-12, my parents have been telling me that "it’s childish and immature" and that "no one older than 8 actually plays with lego" (the thing is, I don’t even "play" with lego, i just collect and display it)

for years, i thought nothing of it. but recently, I’ve been wondering. what if they’re right? what if I’m actually too old for lego?

i still love lego, but what if it really is cringe and embarrassing at my age? I honestly don’t even know anymore. what do you think? is 16 too old for lego?

EDIT: thank y’all 4 the reassurance. now that i know there are people way older than 16 who still like lego, i feel much better with myself. i still love lego and don’t want to give up on it; it was mostly my parents' comments that made me doubt myself in the first place

Basically what the title says. I'm going to university in 1.5 months, and I would love to bring this UCS Venator with me. It's gonna be a 5 hour car ride though so I just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on how to safely bring it with me. Thanks!

LEGOĀ® Set Build Best Builds out there!

Post image
7 Upvotes

I do not know anything about F1 but these helmets are the best brick built sets out there and they look awesome in person. If you are an OCD perfectionist then these are the sets for you as everything has to be aligned perfectly for all of the clips to engage with stability. Just an amazing build experience. The parts usage, printed elements and build techniques are all top notch. Can’t wait for the Sena one rumored to be coming out next.

Just for comparison here are some of the sets I have built in the past 3 months ranked:

  1. F1 Helmets
  2. Minas Tirith
  3. UCS T. Rex
  4. UCS Black Pearl
  5. Vangogh Sunflowers

  6. Gameboy

  7. Italian Rivera

  8. Rexy Porsche

  9. Sauron Helmet (so you know it is not a helmet thing)

  10. WALLĀ·E

LEGOĀ® Set Build The UCS Razorcrest might be one of the worst builds of all time

Pieces are constantly breaking. The landing pads are constantly falling off. The top part of the cockpit is designed horribly and barely holds together. Most of the outer shell is held together by a few clipped on pieces or studs that can easily separate. Anytime I pick it up, I fear it will shatter in my hands. I know it’s not meant for playability but it is still too fragile.

Question Lego ideas 21349 - the tuxedo cat

Hi! I have the question about the tuxedo cat. Is the head supposed to be detachable and "loose"? I also feel like it's uneven, leaning forward. Did I do something wrong or is that how its supposed to be?

Question Customizing Lego minifig flashlight

Wanted to get some suggestions before I dump at least $32 into this. Some backstory, a friend just graduated med school and is now an M.D. and will be specializing in pediatrics. I wanted to get her a gift and when I’ve interacted with staff in the pediatrics wing of hospitals, I’ve seen some have those LEGO minifig keychains that are also flashlights. I found some that are doctor minifigs but the only doctors ones are men and the only women minifigs are nurses (or vets) and it kinda pisses me off because I refuse to get her a nurse keychain when she is a doctor and I feel she should get the one with the white coat because she deserves it. I was thinking of getting the male doctor one and another flashlight one of any female and removing the head + hair to swap so it’s the white coat body but female head and hair. When I’ve looked online about doing this, most results seem to be about removing the actual keychain piece. I’m assuming that I could just brute force the heads off (essentially the normal way of switching parts of a minifig) but wasn’t 100% sure since they aren’t designed for that and there’s some electronics (even if I think they are contained solely in the torso). Has anyone tried switching the heads of the flashlight minifigs and if so, did you have success and how?

Question Used Sets and the Ship of Theseus

Hey all, I buy a lot of used sets, build them, and purchase missing parts from Bricklink to get it back to 100% complete for my own enjoyment.

A thought I have when building older sets is ā€œhow many others have owned this set, done this exact thing, lost pieces, and sold it?ā€

At what point is the set now just a collection of replacement pieces and no longer the actual set?

Idk why but I think about this all the time, and I know, it’s just Lego, it’s a toy. But does anyone else think about this?
