Finding time for art amidst the absolute chaos of life is a brutal, daily battle. But for me, drawing is everything. I made a promise to myself to draw every single day, no excuses.

​Some days are focused, two-hour sessions like this ballpoint skull I've attached. Other days, I barely manage a desperate, messy ten-minute sketch before collapsing into bed. The main point isn't the length of time; it's the refusal to stop.

​I've been drawing since I was nine years old, and now I’m ready to share my daily practice and process with a wider audience. My dream is to start a YouTube channel dedicated to art.

​Also, I want to hear your story. How do you fit art into your packed schedule? And what does creating mean to you in your life?

How can i make my tree look more depths

So I’m kinda confused on where to start. Or how to start. I don’t got any money to spend on lessons nor do I have the time to be popping up into in person or even online classes. And every tutorial often feels like trying to understand a foreign language. Also I’m neurodivergent so that doesn’t help. I have like so many idea I wanna get down and draw but like, I’m not sure how to? That sounds silly anyone can draw, but how does one draw well? Need help please and thank you :P

I kinda wanted the color to be as vibrant as the right image but I mean I really don't really know how to make the color pop off the way that my references do maybe I need to look at the grayscale version of my drawing but man I'm really struggling here

Seriously, how do yall draw heads? 😭 I’ve been drawing heads nonstop this past week and they all look like absolute garbage. I’ve tried using the loomis method and the heads just came out looking like dengue babies and when I do actually draw a decent looking head, the facial features just come out terrible. I’ve tried using other methods from different YouTubers but things still look bad. I’ve tried tracing, which usually helps me tremendously, but that unfortunately didn’t work. Honestly, despite the little enjoyment I have from drawing heads, I’m just gonna keep drawing heads over and over until I can frequently draw decent looking heads. It’s crazy how i find drawing bodies to be easier than this 💀

Hello I am practicing drawing backgrounds and trying to make my artwork feel more „alive“ (i cant think of any right word) but right now at this early stage it just feels cluttered. I am not sure how to continue. I feel like there is no focal point. I am having such a hard time drawing the water on the cape! Also i am trying to make it look like that the figure is looking to the left but i do not know how to make it look like it.

I would absolutely appreciate critique and help from anyone!

I'm not used to digital art or rendering and this is probably the most (lazy) effort I've put into decent rendering

You can critique literally anything, doesn't have to be only the rendering. The harsher, the more helpful!

Just getting back into drawing.. starting with some landscape I love.

At the begining I tend to draw everything in detail but through some "happy mistakes" I think I want to move to more minimal suggestive aproach.. what do you think?

I've always kind of felt like art books and tutorials were lazy when they did the "Draw the basic steps, then draw in the rest" instructions. I never really understood how that was just one step.

I feel like I just had a revelation on the purpose of those instructions. The basic shapes are basically there for you to build out the scale and relative size of different aspects.

Is that what drawing the basic shapes before hand is supposed to be doing?

Also attaching the drawing I made that made me realize this, and it's reference. I wish I had also taken a picture of it when it was just 5 circles and 2 triangles too, but oh well.

I want to color this piece with alcohol markers, but I am terrified at overdoing it. I want to do something simple and moody, like the piece this drawing was inspired by (also attached).

I've seen some watercolor tutorials where the entire image is covered with a light base color, then just shaded with darker colors in the same hue, but I haven't attempted that with alcohol markers yet.

Looking for suggestions from experienced alcohol marker users on how they would approach it. Thanks in advance!

Pinterest drawing i did. Still learning to draw so I can create my own characters for my story. I wonder why sometimes I can do stuff like this...and other times I cant lol

I’m doing it all digitally which honestly doesn’t feel great mostly because my iPad screen isn’t textured so it’s very smooth and easy to wobble my lines. (The last two photos will be super imposed lines I did on paper)

However I did do some super imposing with actual paper and honestly it didn’t feel much different I feel more confident with the paper texture but the lines kind of speak for themselves I think.

I really like the way the lessons are laid out plus having the video to listen to it’s all been very handy at work. I’ll finish up lesson 1 today and probably post my continual journey through draw a box.

I might challenge myself and finish each lesson/homework by drawing something and seeing how the changes/improvements stack up over time.

Pretty proud of this, but still working on everything! Muganga is a member of the Pablo group of gorillas monitored by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Hope to do her and others more justice as I get a little better.
