I'm a beginner artist who started this book 2 days ago so I can get into the proper mindset of an artist so I can improve my art. I'm wondering what I should read after I'm finished with the book? I plan to teach myself through books and some internet help.

the progress of my drawing experience this week. I tried to draw again after years of not wanting to because of pain and discomfort.

As what the title says, I am currently stuck at trying to make shadows and lights look alright. But the result ends up looking mushy and blurry, which is very frustrating.

Does anyone have any advice or tutorial to recommend?

I know that some people are going to say that I need to work on values, which I am currently learning. But I am feeling this isn't just a problem of values.

I have been using a soft brush, hard brush and something in between to create an effect, but no matter what I try, it looks absolutely horrible.

I was given a task to use a line of movement , I usually have no problem drawing anatomy (last Photo is my usual style), but I find it very difficult to break down human figures quickly.

In general, my teacher task is to be able to draw the figure we are drawing in 30 seconds, but I FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT T.T

Any advice? It feels like my first time holding a pencil: ugly and scribbled

Was wondering if anyone feels like me on this subject. When I draw, I enjoy sketching the most. I can't say I feel the same about putting colouring or making line art... as it takes more than than sketching, makes me bored and I sometimes reach to ruin my beautiful sketches.

Anyways, i'm new to drawing and I just wanted to ask you guys what you think. What looks good? What needs to be improved? Thank you!

I paid for the Proko Drawing Basics and started it pretty recently and love what I've seen so far, but unfortunately I feel even this is too advanced for my absolute beginner drawing skills. I got to the portion of trying to draw a pair of boots using CSI lines and already felt out of my league.

I do plan on going through this entire course eventually, but wondering if I should start with something even more basic like Draw A Box, another online resource, or even some books? I'm not against anything no matter how slow the progress is. Thanks in advance.

Before learning it i was trying to use an egg shape like eveyone told me but since i have too much difficulty to see an Egg in 3D in my mind (because egg don't have any side on them... It's just an outline) so i finally decide to look what the ribcage look like to have my own guideline for it and its proportion related to pelvis.

Whenever I draw the same character from front profile it looks same but when I draw it from side profile it looks like a different character how to fix it(currently i don't have any drawing to show) help if anyone can.

I hv no idea how to add patterns. if u notice anything else to improve, I appreciate that too!

Need some critique and tips for different kinds of proportions.
In the first image, I'm trying to modify the left body from realistic human proportions to a more anime-style body.
In the second image, I'm learning by tracing and copying.
The third image is a quick random OC.
P.S. I don't know how to draw hands and feet yet.

Sorry for the poor quality boomer screenshot, it’s rough over here with this computer right now. I’m mainly trying to practice getting the head right more than perfect coloring right now

For years my overall ability has been held back by stupid skulls

I tried prokos method of the head and no matter what SOMETHING just won’t click even if I’m following along and think I understand it

I’ve tried sitting here and trying to make my own way but somethings always wrong

Or I always end up somehow with different features going different angles and I can never see problems until I am deep into coloring or so deep it’s hard to go back in general

And this one has been better than usual but I still can see that it’s wrong when I flip it but I can figure out what I’m actually doing so wrong all the time because to my eyes I feel like I’m following my lines

I’ve gotten by so long on just free hand sketching until something looks good enough to color but it severely limits me and takes so long to do

Also it often feels like the sketch looks right and then the coloring makes it look wrong and I can’t tell which to believe

Finding time for art amidst the absolute chaos of life is a brutal, daily battle. But for me, drawing is everything. I made a promise to myself to draw every single day, no excuses.

​Some days are focused, two-hour sessions like this ballpoint skull I've attached. Other days, I barely manage a desperate, messy ten-minute sketch before collapsing into bed. The main point isn't the length of time; it's the refusal to stop.

​I've been drawing since I was nine years old, and now I’m ready to share my daily practice and process with a wider audience. My dream is to start a YouTube channel dedicated to art.

​Also, I want to hear your story. How do you fit art into your packed schedule? And what does creating mean to you in your life?

At the begining I tend to draw everything in detail but through some "happy mistakes" I think I want to move to more minimal suggestive aproach.. what do you think?
