LANFEP Post #396: Brown Derby Bamboo Room
On to the next out-of-order landmark location: post #396 for the LA Noire Freeroam Explorer Project — posting recognized landmarks replicated by Team Bondi for LA Noire (now hopping over to Hollywood for a bit) that are not included in the LA Noire “Official” Landmarks list. (I recently learned that the entire Brown Derby building is considered a “contributing property,” which includes three additional entries. The distinction’s a bit sketchy, since parts of the building were altered or demolished over time, but I’m giving these the benefit of the doubt.)
National Register of Historic Places #85000704 (contributing property to the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District)
The Bamboo Room was a cocktail lounge within the historic Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant. It opened in 1936 and was known for its unique bamboo and zebra-print decor. The Bamboo Room was later remodeled into the Record Room in 1954.
