So I've been binge-watching kdramas for about two years now and I just realized how much they've affected my everyday behavior in the strangest ways. Like I automatically tilt my head slightly when I'm confused about something, which I never did before. Or I've started pouring drinks with two hands even when I'm just at home alone, which feels ridiculous but also weirdly respectful?

The worst part is I catch myself doing that thing where characters pause dramatically before answering a question. My coworker asked me if I wanted coffee yesterday and I just stood there for like three seconds staring at nothing before saying yes. She looked at me like I'd lost it.

I also can't eat ramyeon normally anymore without thinking it should be more eventful somehow. And don't even get me started on how I now notice every single PPL in western shows because kdramas made me hyper-aware of product placement.

Anyone else accidentally absorbed random kdrama mannerisms or is it just me being w eird? I'm curious if this is a common thing or if I've just watched way too many episodes in a row without touching grass.

PLOT - 10/10

Honestly, this drama is such a palate cleanser. It’s neither boring nor overly dramatic—it just cleanses your soul. It hits that rare sweet spot: light and refreshing without feeling superficial. Adding the filming aspect into the plot was a brilliant touch that you rarely see done this well. Not a single episode felt like filler. If you're looking for something unique, comforting, and genuinely refreshing, this is it.

CHARACTERS - 10/10

I honestly have zero complaints. Another rare gem here is the inclusion of a third couple—a dynamic you almost never see executed this well. Every single character brought something special, especially NJ. The cast adds so much to the show’s lighthearted charm, especially since it avoids toxic fights, heavy angst, or melodramatic breakdown scenes.

ACTING - 10/10

Still no complaints, though there is one character I need to highlight: NJ. I’ve seen a lot of people criticize the actress’s performance, but I personally loved her. Her acting wasn't bad at all—in fact, I think she portrayed the character perfectly. Her visuals are stunning, and honestly, I’d love to see her take on a tragic role next. She definitely has the screen presence for it, and I want to see a lot more of her in the future.

OVERALL - 10/10

I usually find lighthearted dramas boring and not worth my time, but this one struck the perfect balance. It’s comforting without feeling vanilla or bland. There wasn't a single episode that lost my attention—within the first few minutes of every episode, you're instantly hooked again. I loved the storyline and the dynamics between the characters, and I hope anyone who gives it a chance enjoys it just as much.

Just finished watching and let me tell you i want my second season soooo bad .

This show is freaking awesome so for me as a horror fan they served me the best .

Go young jung & Nam joo hyuk have been my favorite since I have ever seen them first on screen.

I really hope these two get cast together in the future because their visuals and acting range would be insane together 😭 I would love to see them play two red-flag, morally grey characters. Basically, give me Nevertheless vibes but with a healthy love story instead of toxic love 😭

It’s not that they were boring or bad, it’s just the show kinda takes too long to get these two characters together when they’re already dating and together before even getting together. The whole curse thing about him disappearing and finding out ways how to make him want to be human takes a lot of the remaining time left in the show, you’d think his time spent with her would have already been more than enough progress in the first place before he grew to have feelings for her and decided to pursue her. That’s why the second leads are definitely the better part of this show, and I’m not just saying that due to my completely unrelated bias towards talented and beautiful Kang Han Na.

Watching this pretty late. I expected some fistfights when I was the genre was action but what in the holy shit is this? The man can walk in a room of 50 deadly gangsta and walk out of there alive and limping,while the other's are...well dead or as good as dead. I don't think I tried this genre before (and even if I did the violence wasn't this crazy).

Btw,guess who have a math test on Sunday and shamelessly watching some middled aged man fighting like a hulk?

People were hyping it so much and how beautiful the series was and I was impressed with the screenshot of the series but when I watched it, Pilot ep was decent enough to catch the attention but it never got better and for me twist was predictable.

And action was okayish and cinematography was decent which were being praised a lot but for me it wasn't that good like a wow factor.

A solid 6/10 and will surely forget it in a day or two.

Idk before I watched any of them, why i thought there were parts of the same universe, maybe cause of long names, and having both female lead names in title,

And their cinematography is also very similar, ofcourse I was wrong

I started on my own in January but wasn't sure if I was pronouncing anything right so I use Preply now. I'd say I'm still a beginner in the sentence/grammar making phase.

Now The East Palace is out, NJH’s agency announced his new projects. One is a rom-com and the other one is a mystery thriller. I’m honestly excited about both.

Now let’s hope for a suitable female lead of Heartbeat who will compliment his performance like Kim Tae Ri did in 2521.

For me it's probably that Iconic Kopiko scene in My Demon 😭 It was the first time I saw a really bold ad move by a kdrama.

I know Myeong Su was just a kid looking a way for his mother and grandmother to see his father....But Why...Why did you have to leave then....at that moment, despite knowing how things were outside? Why not wait for your sister to come? Why did you run in straight line eyesight of soldiers? What made you think you could get pass all those soldiers and bring both of them back?

And to the guy who gave the map...Why did you give a map to a 12 year old when things are soo ugly outside....Why?????

I know he was just a 12 year old and he did not do it purposefully, I know fate is to blame....but Why??? Why did it have to be this cruel???😭😭😭😭

Its that time of year when I grieve Youth of May and I just needed someone to blame to let it from my mind, It just happened to be Myeong su.

One more thought....

Myeongi considered herself unlucky all throughout her life, she was used and sad, said yes to literally everything even when she was broken, Finally she just had a chance to be happy and it did not even last a month. In her final moments would she have considered herself lucky to have been able to love Hee tae or would she have considered herself unlucky to not be able to forever live in that love??😭😭

Unfortunately... I support every devastating decision this drama made

By the time I started Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, I knew it would fall around my taste. It was.. a feeling.

I LOVE romances where it feels like the entire world is trying to keep two people apart.

the impossible circumstances.

the longing.

the jealousy.

heartbreak.

characters who keep choosing each other even when everything around them is falling apart.

That's my shit.

And Moon Lovers delivered on most of that and more!

Hae Soo.

I absolutely loved her.

My favorite K-drama female leads almost always have agency and are almost never passive.

They're not just waiting for things to happen to them.

They make choices.

They challenge people.

They change the people around them.

Hae Soo fits that a lot.

She genuinely influenced the lives of everyone around her.

She changed the princes around her.

You could feel the ripple effects of her presence long after she'd entered everyone's lives.

And then...

There's Wang So.

The scarred prince.

I absolutely loved his relationship with Hae Soo.

Watching someone who'd spent his entire life believing he was unwanted slowly find one person who truly saw him...

I love emotional journeys like that.

their story felt epic.

Every time they got pulled apart, every reunion felt that much more meaningful.

i really appreciated that the drama didn't make every prince feel interchangeable either. There's so many of them, it was easy for them to blend together, and in the beginning, for me, they were a little bit lol, but as i continued, that was no longer the case.

They all had their own personalities, motivations, and emotional baggage and I love that the female lead had an impact on all of them.

That made the palace politics much more interesting than I expected too! I usually get bored with palace politics.

One relationship that caught me a bit off guard, in a good way, was Wang So and his mother.

I wasn't expecting that dynamic to become one of the most compelling parts of the drama.

Usually when I see a mother-son relationship in a story, it's pretty straightforward and most mothers in dramas are Boy Moms and I'm never a fan...

Not here.

Their relationship was messy.

Painful.

Complicated.

As a mother, she was allowed to be selfish.

Cruel.

An antagonist.

And because of that, every interaction between them carried so much emotional weight and was intense!!

By the time everything finally came to a head...

I actually loved how their story concluded.

It was heartbreaking, but it also felt like such an interesting for them.

i also have to mention Empress Yoo because she ended up being one of the a fav character of mind in the entire drama.

I never felt like I completely understood her, and I actually liked that. The drama gave me enough to understand why she treated Wang So the way she did, but it never handed me every answer.

She remained a little mysterious until the very end, and I found myself constantly trying to figure her out.

Empress Yoo felt like a fully realized person with her own fears, regrets, contradictions, and motivations. I couldn't take my eyes off her whenever she was on screen.

I also appreciated the love triangle...

At least in theory.

Because I actually wanted more from the Eighth Prince.

I LOVE love triangles where I genuinely understand why the female lead could choose either man.

I want both relationships to feel earned.

I want to find myself rooting for both people.

Instead...

I kept feeling like he wasn't fighting hard enough.

He had genuine feelings for Hae Soo, but I wanted him to take bigger risks to show his love. I felt he was a coward whenever it truly mattered.

i wanted him to make harder choices, bolder ones.

To really become a true emotional rival to Wang So.

I think that would've made the main romance even stronger. Because a good second male lead is really for that shit and i want them to deliver, damn it!

And then...

There's the ending.

I know bittersweet endings aren't for everyone.

But they sure are for me, heheheh. I always get a kick out of of non-traditional ending.

I liked it.

It hurt.

It left a hole that honestly still hasn't been filled by another K-drama.

But I don't always need a perfectly happy ending.

Sometimes a tragic ending is exactly what gives a love story its power.

Moon Lovers was so epic and one of my favorite K-dramas to date! Definitely top 4!
