New to fpv

I found this drone on Instagram and figured it looked fun. So what's the best way to start with FPV drones? Do I buy one new or build one myself? Are there any specific models I should look for? This one in the picture looks cool; it's not that big either.

Randomly lost control of the drone and it fell down. I don't understand what was the problem because after the crash drone still works fine, haven't had the same problem again.

Bought this antenna a long time ago and when i had no clue about RHCP and LHCP. There isn't any text with the polarization direction. There is this arrow below the logo but I'm not sure if that indicates the polarization.

Today I built a drone using the frame and motors from an Air 75 II Freestyle with a VTX O4 Lite. I also have 580 batteries, giving me a flight time of at least 4 to 6 minutes.I'm surprised how well this works. I don't have any jello. I'm in love with this little thing 😍

Micro Quad Retro ripping !

Hey folks ! Thought I'd show one of my rare flights outdoor !

I fly an Eachine QX95s with first gen EV800 and Flysky i6 lol

Had those for 11 years now, only flew rarely as I was a total noob, and ofc, I was flying in stab...because I wasn't confident in acro lol

Only recently, I got back in FPV and brought back those from the attic, adapted my quad for tiny whoops lipos, changed my EV800 battery for a 18650 and started training flying in acro !

Recently got a RM pocket for training on simulator and just got an ImmersionRC Vortex 150 to tinker with

If you guys have any advices, feel free to !

Help! What is happening and How do i fix it??

So my meteor75 o4 was good for almost 2 weeks but yesterday i started hearing a weird sound and now 1 motor is doing this… I don’t know it the sound is coming form this motor but it’s the only one working weird. The sound was present even without the tape (it’s a momentary thing for test). I could still fly but I’m pretty worried…

BetaFPV VR04 alternatives?

Since the beta vr04 are out of stock im looking for an alternative in same price range, im not sure if i should get the vr03 for 86 usd.

This is going to be my first goggles and im planning to use them with an air 75 ii racing.

I saw Nils Van video about latency, and saw that the ev800d are worst in that aspect, and more expensive.

Do you recommend a better alternative??

Question? Build or buy a new sub250

Upvotes

I am looking to get a new sub250 gram drone so I can fly almost everywhere, as the restrictions are pretty strict in Europe. I was looking at the DeepSpace Seeker 3 or building my own, but I am not sure if I should build or just buy a BNF.

I already fly and have built a 5", toothpick, and a whoop, so I know how to fix them and don't feel the need to build another one from scratch. However, if it's cheaper or better to build, then I am open to it.

I also don't know if I would get much more value out of it by building instead of buying. Is there any advantage besides customization?

All opinions are appreciated!

I am mainly looking for something that feels as close to a 5" freestyle quad as possible while staying under 250g.

OSD won’t show on DJI O4 Pro, and motors spin exponentially when some throttle is applied after arming.

Hey, so I unpacked my new goku f722 pro v2 stack yesterday and soldered everything together, but I have two issues…

Here is a list of my material :

\- Frame : JeNo 5’1
\- Motors : T-motor Velox V2306 v2.0 (2400 kv)
\- Stack : Goku F722 Pro V2
\- Receiver : Radiomaster RP1
\- Radio : Radiomaster Pocket
\- VTX : DJI O4 Pro
\- Goggles : DJI N3

Problem 1 :

Basically, I had a SpeedyBee f404 and I flew a bit with it, successfully binding it to my goggles and showing the OSD with no trouble. But now that I changed this stack with the new goku, no matter the UART I am choosing, my goggles won’t show the OSD but only the native parameters it usually shows and the camera. I tried every UART there is, without changing the bound rate or nothing, and I did activate the VTX (MSP + DisplayPort) option on Betaflight every single time accordingly to the UART I activated.

Problem 2 :

As soon as I apply a little tiny bit of throttle, my motors decide to turn uncontrollably… The last time it happened on my SpeedyBee f404, I deactivated the Airmode and everything worked perfectly, but it didn’t work on this FC… I didn’t change any BLHELI settings, just configured on Betaflight for now. However the weird part is that when I control my motors from Betaflight, they act completely docile and follow the cursor perfectly… They only show an erratic behavior when controlled from my Radiomaster pocket which responds perfectly in Betaflight.

I’m kind of stuck so any help would be useful at this point 🙏 thx a lot.

sub 250 Long Range kit recommendation / options needed

I am looking to move away from DJI drones but would still like to use my DJI n3 goggles. I have a license and can go over 250grams when I am in the correct airspace.

Right now I am looking at the Flywoo Explorer LR 4 V2 O4 Wide.

I have zero issues with soldering and have a 3D printer capable of printing LW-ASA and TPU.

Am I looking at the right drone? or should i be looking at something else?

Help! Stick time or I aim too high for first quad

Upvotes

Hello,

Today is first day where I have doubts. Despite having fun and (if weather allow) flying 6 packs a day, after 6 packs i completely lose focus and feel tired mentally - I cannot control quad speed, it feels powerful.

I have spent first part of savings to buy everything I need to enter this hobby - goggles, parts for quad, soldering station, practice boards (no soldering experience at all), additional things. It is overall ~2300 USD (~8500 PLN). Here is my quad setup:

  • Volador II VX5 O4 frame
  • O4 Pro
  • GOKU F722 Pro V2 stack
  • Radiomaster XR1 receiver
  • Radiomaster TX12 Mk2 ELRS 2,4GHz
  • Sword 2207 1950kv
  • Gemfan Hurricane Durable 51366
  • DJI G3 - running normal mode, not race

Additional stuff not included. It counts backup motors, backup stack and arms for frame.

Quad works, idk, fine, it flies, flying on stock betaflight settings, without PID tunning, just my sim rates (ACTUAL 120 / 540 / 0.50 on everything, throttle mid 0,5, no expo) I can control it more or less in slow speed to move around my yard. It is pretty stable at hover point but compared to any sim I played (around 60 hours in Uncrashed, Tryp FPV, Liftoff), I need IRL 18-20% throttle to hover, compared to around 45% in sim. However, when I try to do powerloop, at the end of trick, when I drop down, I need to spool up motors very high for a second to not hit the ground, not a blip, just a 1 second ~ 60-70% throttle spool, feels like I am constantly stalling motors. Sims were completely different, nothing like now, also when I watch GoPro videos, I don't hear such motor spool up from people I need to do to keep quad flying. I know it is around 700g of weight but I feel like I miss something there.

Quad is just too crazy. When I tried vertical jump on full throttle, it gained over 60m alt within 1s. Same with speed, sbang push forward move makes it stupidly fast instantly.

I am planning to buy Pavo20 Pro II O4, I heard it is slower quad and suitable to fly indoor and outdoor if wind is not high. Sometimes my 5" makes me scared, especially after I hit one of mine flower pots today, where quad was almost not damaged but pot was pretty much destroyed. Power of this beast scares me now.

Looking for advice, even if this will be stick time. Should I leave 5" for later, buy Pavo and train with it (if so - what lipos) or stick to it because experience will come?

In sims, after 30h I can do powerloops, split S, gaps, rolls, inverted spins, rubics cube. With this one, everything feels like 3-4 times faster and I stop mid-trick to slow down and try again, with same result.

Sorry for wall of text, had to explain everything how it feels. Love this hobby and pretty much ripping 6 packs every day there is a good weather. I am scared as fk to play if grass is in any way wet, not to mention if it starts raining, not even trying (2 days ago daughter saved me telling me that it starts raining, wearing hat because small head and DJI G3 tend to not fit my small head).

Thanks a lot.

Question? No gps satalites

Thumbnail

I was wondering if someone could help me get some satalites, i am aware that the gps should be away from carbon fiber frame, so i mounted it on top of the frame where therr are gaps in the frame. Also i have used thick doible sided tape in between thr gps and the frame.

Edit: i have managed to get 4-5 satalites but on the osd the satalite thing is flashing and not just on. Clause says this is because it still doesnt have a good 3d lock although in betaflight it is showing my location pretty accurate like 4 houses from where i actually live

NEWBIE Impatient newbie question

Upvotes

I'm wanting to do a custom build to get used to flying fpv, but specifically for extreme remote videography. Can anyone tell me what the currently agreed to be the best long range platform is, that would let me have a pretty good feed using, and how to best calculate how much range and longevity I'd lose by carrying different payloads (cameras) versus the craft's own weight?

Betaflight is not sure about arm state

Today while flying quad disarmed for no reason. I don't even know how to describe what showed in blackbox, so here is screenshot. These short ARM OFF-ON (the quad didn't actually disarm during them) are for the whole flight, but one every 20 second, except for end and 20 seconds before real disarm. In the next flight after changing battery, issue was gone (so no short ARM OFF-ON). Can someone explain why did that happen?
(sorry for bad english)
