I'm going to re-write the whole text to not confuse somebody :)
In this video i forgot to take off the props, I know, but I was struggling very long and just came in from an outdoor test, so I knew what exactly will happen. Nevertheless, I'll never and you should never do this with Props mounted!!!!!
In this video you can see that my motors are not spinning, if I arm my drone. The same occurs in Betaflight when I tried to run the motors.
There was a looong journey until I get here (~18 hours of troubleshooting), so I'll give you a short recap:
First: I'm a noob, started with a Meteor75 Pro O4 and got my hands on this nice little sub250 copter, Deepspace Seeker 3.
The problem:
The copter was shipped with an outdated BLHELI (i guess). Some weeks ago I may already flashed the ESC, but wasn't 100% sure if I really did it.
After coming back from Holidays I wanted to fly it again (before it worked fine). But the copter started to flip over when arming.
While troubleshooting, I came to the esc-configurator and noticed a warning:
Unsupported Firmware d2ÿÿÿÿ version '2.20' (Layout 3) is not yet supported. Let us know by opening an issue. Only flash firmware if you are fully aware what you are doing. (spoiler: I did not know what i was doing ;) )
Because I wasnt 100% sure if I already flashed the ESC, I decided to flash it again, to get rid of the outdated BLHELI to the AM32 firmware.
I found out better to use https://am32.ca/configurator for this and selected the target called AM32_DEEPSPACE_AIO_F421_2.20.hex (spoiler, did not work).
I ended up with the ESC being stuck in startup melody, restarting again and again in a loop, but only with the first 3 beeps but not the last 2 beeps for the ESC-FC-connection.
Then the journey began again. I tried different targets that chatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini told me to try:
- AM32_HAKRC_G_F421_2.20.hex
- AM32_HAKRC_G_F421_2.19.hex
- AM32_HAKRC_G23_F421_2.20.hex
- AM32_HAKRC_G23_F421_2.19.hex
But nothing worked. In the video you see what happened.
The Problem was NOT the Ramp rate, that is often resetted to 0.1% or so, not the DSHOT or directional DSHOT settings, startup power or idle power.
I took pictures of the ESC from all sides, but nobody was able to tell me what target to flash!
THE SOLUTION (for me, so far)
I then flashed AM32_JHEMCU_F421_2.20.hex
This one worked out of the box. My motors are running nice and smooth, no bad noise anymore. BUT I did not fly the drone, because its already dark outside :( I will tell you more tomorrow.
ATTENTION before simply doing the same like me
Before you flash the same target like me do a research. This one might not work for you. There is no "right" target that works for all of you, i figured out. I can't guarantee this will work, it depends on the ESC, the manufacturer and maybe more, even if you got the same drone like me. The Seeker can be shipped with different ESCs!!!!. Only try it using a smoke stopper.
Why i write all this? Because it was a looong journey and I hope this will help any of you to prevent you wasting your time too :)
