I don't there's been a single playthrough where I haven't dodged the boulder a bear traps of Black Mt to get my hands on the implants early game.

Does it make sense from a character roleplay perspective? No. But I do it anyways, bc easy access to the north of the Mojave is just too good to pass up.

God, I hope they don't screw with this in the remake.

[Was going to go more in depth on my early game strat, but that started to get bigger and bigger as I worked on it.]

Question Are there any mods that add more Freedom and Consequences?

Hey guys, I’m looking for some mods that add more dialogue and even more choices into the base game without adding 100 million new quests. I want to just give myself as much freedom as possible. I also wanna find some mods that increase the consequences of my choices. Does anyone know anything like that?

You don't get any reward or acknowledgment outside of this dialogue, and Norton and his men never leave if you do things this way, so there's no real reason to. That, and Marcus is a bro.

The whole point of the quest is to strike fear into a Legion captive, it was the perfect place for some dialogue with the perk 😭

Question Where are the whores? I heard a King talk about one, but there aren't any. Is he suffering from delusions? Am I suffering from delusions? Talk about false advertisement. I guess the ghoul lady is cheap, only 25 caps, but I don't have necrophilia. And the advertiser said women plural.

Question Mods to re-enable playing Caravan with merchants?

I don't imagine it's a common problem seeing as the majority of folks don't bother with Caravan, but I was wondering if any mods exist to let me continue playing Caravan with merchants. I briefly checked Nexus already and didn't find anything, so I might be S.O.L. but figured I'd make a post anyway. Even if it's not possible to earn money from it, I'd be happy.

For a few roleplay reasons (primarily that I'm living in Novac) my most recent character has come to quite enjoy playing Cliff at Caravan, and so I was disappointed to find out that, since he's a merchant, I could only play with him 5 times. I understand *why* that limit exists, but it still makes me sad. Like I said, I'm happy to just play the game, profits be damned.

Discussion Do you still use old mods?

Hey, i wanted to know about your expirience with using old/slighlty outdated mods

I wanted to download a mod for an alliance between Mr House and the BOS. There are two currently avaiable. One required a bunch of other mods, which i dont want to download, and the other one was made in 2010

Idk which one to pick, im afraid the old one might break my game somehow or just not work

Do you have any expirience or advice for this? Thanks

Complaint Fuck Remakes, Remasters, Rehashes and Reboots.

Yes, I’m that guy, and obviously you wanna say “GrEaT tHiNG yOu don’t HaVe tO pLaY iT!!1!” Spare me. Just let me rant a bit here. I am so, so sick of this whole movement of Remake this Remaster that Reboot this. Fallout: New Vegas is my #1 most cherished favorite video game of all time, and everyone expects me to be cheering and ecstatic about a remaster as if that is a good thing and that I want it to be changed, especially when it’s another payment. I don’t want a remaster and every single time one is announced, I groan and roll my eyes. Pretty sure I’m the only one as well, cause everyone around just looks at me like I’m crazy for not wanting everything I love to be redone.

This decade has undeniably drifted into “the Great Remaster.” For whatever reason, the absolutely nonsensical logic of games now is “This masterpiece is so good that it deserves to be changed.” It makes no sense whatsoever, yet it seems the collective consciousness and the public overmind has decided that a masterpiece video game needs to be changed to whatever the latest and greatest graphical fad is. Somehow video games are not seen as pieces of art and complete pictures, they are seen as machines in perpetual need of changing to whatever the newest thing is.

“This whole Mona Lisa thing is really cool and all, but let’s admit, it’s aged a lot now. I mean, come on. Paint? It doesn’t even look real. It has cracks and stuff in it that obviously suck. Let’s admit: it could be bigger. If Leonardo had access to better technology at the time, he could have done a better job. She looks kinda, eh. Her skin could be better. And the frame could do with some serious redoing, it’s so old and, I dunno, out of style now. What an eyesore. It doesn’t even have indicators to show me where to look and which one is her! How am I supposed to look at this shit? Literally unviewable. So we are thinking, Mona Lisa is so good that it deserves to be remade. We are gonna release a brand new MONA LISA: REPAINTED! Get your Special Smile Edition for Early Access and a special Leonardo NFT!”

The so-called-law of diminishing returns has led apparently millions of people into being incapable of enjoying anything that isn’t UE5, cause “it looks like shit now.” Do you not realize, if this is your way of life, every game that is being released right now is actually shit that really need improvement and updating because it looks like shit and has aged badly (in 15 years from now?) What is it exactly that makes you think changing a game makes you feel nostalgic? This wave of thinking is leading people to not be able to appreciate anything old and for people to be incapable of trying anything until it gets a new remaster that makes them go “Hmm. Mona Lisa was repainted digitally… I might actually love Mona Lisa now! Wow guys, I just looked at it! It’s amazing, I love this classic Mona Lisa thing now that it’s not the classic Mona Lisa!”

To be clear: I’m always in favor of ports. Just allowing a game on new devices is great. That isn’t changing the game either. It’s like taking a detailed photo of a painting. But we aren’t talking about a port here.

I think that the things which “deserve remasters” are not the ultimate classics but rather the games that had potential, but sucked. Those should be redone, not the greatest of the greatest.
You are all feeding companies millions of dollars, teaching them that they all need to rehash and redo the same shit they already did, delaying the production of anything new, making companies do “safe” decisions, shitting on the classic masterpieces… I cant stand it. I’m so sick of Remaster this, Remake that, Reforge this, Reboot that. Milk the all-time classics for what they are worth by changing the all-time classics!

Every goddamn post on here now is “OH MAH GAAAAH guys are we gonna get THIS in the remaster?? Would you want this?? How about they change that?? Let’s admit this sucks, change that. How much money should we give to Bethesda for not making something new! My brain cells are incapable of enjoying anything old that isn’t made in UE5! Until in the future of course when we will ‘all agree this game looks like shit and needs a remaster!’ What’s wrong? You didn’t have to buy it. The rest of us wanna appreciate the classics!”

I think I might be the only one in the world who hates this shit for the whole decade now, especially last 2 years. I feel totally alone in this. Go ahead, tell me all about how I shouldn’t care and how great the classics are that need to be changed. Maybe send me to an asylum. Call me an asshole but I think, if you “fix” New Vegas and how it looks, you are not playing New Vegas. It does not need to be changed. It does not need to look like Fallout 76. It does not need Unreal Fucking Engine which has become its own cultural wave now***. Fallout New Vegas is a masterpiece, and if you change it, you aren’t playing the masterpiece.***

Yes, I’m an insufferable asshole. Now go on, out with the clever insults and the downvoting and the “you don’t have to play it,” go now and be good little customers and pay Bethesda for it again so you can “enjoy the classics!”

If you don’t like my post, why should you care? You don’t have to read it…

Discussion how hard are the dlcs with only unarmed attacks?

unarmed chem chugging with logans loophole and light armor to farm crit chance.

here is what i think, but ive only played each dlc once and always with guns, and my unarmed run is still in its early stages

easiest: dead money. wont have to deal with ammo count, and destroying limbs to keep the enemies dead is much easier with a melee attack.

bit harder: old world blues. you can keep your stuff, and the enemies are easy to close in on, but tend to be tankier

hard: honest hearts. lots of enemies like to be peached on ledges that you really want a gun to shoot at them.

hardest: lonesome road. deathclaws, powerful ranged attacking enemies (especially with red glare and the shoulder mounted lmgs.)

Question Is it possible to get the Lucky Shades and be hunted by the Assassin Squads of the Legion in the same run?

I'm planning a run after a very long time and i seem to remember the assassin squads to be a wonderful source of gear and caps. The thing is, i'd like to acquire the Lucky Shades, which, if the Wiki is right, need at least a Liked reputation when speaking with Lucius at the Fort. Getting hit by the squads, however, seems to require at least Shunned, which i can't acquire even if i tank my Legion reputation after getting the mark and acquiring a liked reputation. Some sources online say you can get both, though, somehow.

So, question on the OP. Is there a way to get both the shades and assassin squads in the same run? Or can i only get one (the squads) until i get the other (the shades)?

Edit with answer to the question: After checking on your suggestions I went on some console adventuring: If i get Liked by the Legion (for the glasses), and then acquire the highest infamy possible with them (for the love of the game) i will go down to Soft Hearted Devil, and at this reputation point Assassins won't spawn, so it seems to be an either/or situation. I will probably end up console commanding myself into Vilified to keep a sense of danger (and congruency) to the Mojave, possibly after giving Caesar a haircut 5 inches too short. I quite like the added danger (and Thermic Lances). Thanks everyone.
