Flickr Help: Flickr App Refresh 2026

Just in case you haven't noticed, I thought I'd provide a link to a Flickr Help article where they discuss the Flickr App Refresh 2026.

I don't work for Flickr, but I've been a member since 2005.

I haven't used the app at all in the past 10 years or more - I just use a web browser on my mobile phone and my iPad. The app, old or new, never provided all the functionality that is available to people that use computers, so if you use a web browser on a mobile device you get most of the functionality. Flickr is a responsive web site, with very few quirks when on a mobile browser, so I haven't been affected at all by the disastrous app update.

UPDATE Jul 20, 2026

We know the new app hasn't met the bar you expect from Flickr. Since launch, we've heard your feedback about bugs, missing features, and rough edges, and we want to acknowledge that directly.

iOS: We're in the process of rolling back the iOS app to the previous version while we address these issues. You should see this reflected in the App Store shortly.

Android: The Android app will remain on the updated version. Due to technical limitations and the risks involved in reverting, a rollback isn't possible on this platform. Instead, expect frequent updates as we fix bugs and restore preexisting features.

The app says I have 326 notifications, but when I open it up I see only 2. Whare are the other 324? This only started happening after the app was updated to it's new format

Flickr issues

Since the new update on my iPhone 17 Pro, I cannot add my Flickr photos to multiple groups. I also do not have the option of adding photos from my phone gallery to Flickr as the icon has disappeared from options to share it to.

Does anyone know when/if these issues are due to be fixed?

I’m considering stopping using Flickr as it has become very cumbersome and not user friendly .

I’m also getting very frustrated of multiple prompts to join Flickr Pro, very annoying and intrusive.

Hey Flickr, sort your app out or it’ll sink.

The new update is abysmal. I’ve been on flickr about 90% less since the ‘upgrade’. The fact that you have to individually share each individual image to an individual group is absolutely pathetic.

How to kill the golden goose. They’ve taken what was arguably one of the best photo app communities to something irrelevant. Well done.

Lower views since the new update

Has anyone else noticed their photos have lower views since the new update ? I noticed it for my photos as well as many other photographers I follow. Talking about 30/40% less views than before the update. Still updating with similar workflow including adding manually groups.
Wondering if it was part of the update (which would be absolutely dumb) or maybe because the update frustrated so many people that they are not coming on the app?

Another retrograde feature of the new iOS app

Hi all. I’m hoping some of the Flickr developers are collecting feedback here. One of the best features for me of Flickr is being able to discover new work and new photographers, and the best way of doing this has always been to scroll through someone’s fave list. It appears that we can no longer just swipe to do this with the new app? I can swipe my way left and right through a user’s photostream, but if I click on their faves I can see the faves as thumbnails but can’t swipe my way through it any more.

Any alternative Android app that allows selection of folders to upload?

Since I installed the new up, it's spending more than a day to upload 13000 pictures in the Whatsapp and other folders...

Guest pass links now showing a login screen to non-Flickr users. Anyone else having this?

I've been sharing albums with friends and family using the Share option ("All photos – public and private") for a while now, and it's always worked fine. The link would open the album directly, no account needed.

Today though, the people I share with are being shown a Flickr login screen instead of the photos. Since they don't have Flickr accounts, they can't see anything.

All my photos are set to Safe, so that's not the issue. The guest pass link is being generated normally (it just doesn't work anymore for non-members). I did this from the web, not the app, though the app doesn't seem to let me share anything either.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a workaround? I've submitted a support request but wondering if others are affected.

Uploading from Android app

I tried uploading some photos from my phone. Auto upload is broken. I checked the file names after I had manually uploaded them. The file names had been changed. The name format for pictures/videos on my phone is 4 digit year 2 digit month 2 digit day, underscore, 2 digit hour 2 digit minute 2 digit second.

Can no longer choose download size on Android with the new app

Is this affecting anyone else?

For years, my social media workflow has consisted of uploading full resolution images to Flickr, then casually "plucking" images from my feed by downloading them to my phone whenever I wanted to post. The old Flickr app conveniently prompted you to choose a download size, and for social media I'd always select "Large - 2048 × XXXX." Since I shoot with the GFX100S, I really don't want to be downloading 100-megapixel images to my phone.

I’ve been logged out and cannot log back in

Basically the above.

I’ve been forced into the ‘upgraded’ app and have previously logged in.

Got automatically logged out yesterday and now when I enter my details nothing happens. The page is still live - that is I can tap on the forgot password link or Flickr help link and they work. But nothing happens when I press enter.

Alongside all the other missing features this has to be one of the worst app updates I’ve ever experienced.

Flickr ~ Issue/Question About Broken Feature on New Flickr IOS Update 5.0.0, 5.01, 5.02 ~ Trying to Fix

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I previously contacted Flickr help to let Flickr know that there is an important broken feature and issue with the new 5.0.0 & 5.0.1 & 5.0.2 Flickr App Update. I also Added A Screen Video Here at the bottom in the hopes that this issue might be fixed, to show the broken feature after the new updates, that previously worked in the old version… Under Description Type “View More” a long description or story gets cut off after a certain amount of lines with no option to scroll down, or a scroll bar on the Flickr iPhone app , to view the rest of the type. It’s just frozen with no scroll down option to read more, (view more). It doesn’t scroll. The type container is stuck. I write long descriptions with my photography as an image diary, and both the title/description and photograph, combined, is what makes my art, “My Art. It’s not just the photograph. My photography is not my specific art with just the photograph, without the story or words. They go hand in hand. Without one or the other, my photography is no longer “my art” And I feel like I cannot post an image on Flickr again unless this issue is fixed, (even though I am just one person out of millions who post on Flickr). If I go to edit my type the original type is still there, it is just that the description container under “read more” is stagnant and does not allow for scrolling down past a point. For me after line 24 on all of my photography posts descriptions, all of them… I decided to add a screen video here tonight, attached, so you can see the broken description part on my Flickr page and what I am talking about. It’s hard to understand that just 2-3 weeks ago we had this beautiful, elegant, high quality Flickr App for our photography that was working beautifully and now some broken parts with the upgrade, but I understand they are trying to update it and make it better in their eyes. Nothing was wrong with it before. I love Flickr, and would like to continue to use it, but right now I have spent 16 days of not editing any photographs trying to decide if I want to upload up on here anymore as an image diary, (without words?) I have few followers and no engagement, but it’s my professional photography image diary, so it will be a loss to me if we are no longer able to “write” on Flickr anymore with our photographs. And in addition, the Titles to my photography were a very important part of the image, as part of the art, but no longer can be seen on the feed with the photographs, unless you open it, so it’s now hidden, even though it was an important 2-part element to my photography., and many others. Again I love the Flickr App and am only writing here on this forum in the hopes that my issue gets fixed, if someone from Flickr, if on here, can see and view the broken long type description that was once one of the best features about Flickr, that you could write words, favorite song lyrics and stories related to the image with your photography. Please see the Screen Video I made, that shows the error, (broken description type feature after the update). If anyone from Flickr sees this and could respond, to acknowledge the broken description type getting cutoff, then I know I did my best to show it, to have it be fixed… as I write very long descriptions and stories with my photography and noticed it, but maybe most people didn’t notice it to report it. I am not writing on here to say anything bad about Flickr, just to try to help. Again, please see the attached screenshot video of my phone/Flickr page showing the issue that I am speaking about. 7/16/26 ~ Flickr 5.0.0 & 5.01 & 5.02 Updates ~ (turn on volume in attached video to hear)

(I added this to 1 other chat on Reddit as well and let Flickr know)

Add On: I just uploaded my first image today 7/20/26 since the new 5.0.0-5.0.2 Flickr Update, and all of my fine details in my photography were lost in the upload. The old Flickr before the 5.0.0 used to retain my details beautifully, small nails and hardware in wood on houses, windows, and doors, fine details in stained glass window photography shots. It’s all gone now. Can’t see the details at all, blurry and pixelated. I Hope They Will Be Able to Fix Everything, I was contemplating going Pro right before this update. I am just hoping for fixes. As a graphic designer, who used to design websites in Adobe Dreamweaver a long time ago with split screen coding on the left and the visual on the right, the text description box not scrolling down, seems like an easy, (15 minute fix), coding issue for the container area, but I am unsure.

Add-On: My New Photograph Upload Display on the New App Lost All of the Details, but the Display of My New Photograph on My Desktop Mac Studio Retains the Details, (it’s just the display on the new app).

HELP! Flickr iOS integration gone?

Maybe two months ago I started up a pro account, and a major reason was how easy it is to upload a photo directly from Lightroom Mobile or Photos to the Flickr app.

Out of nowhere that integration is now gone and I can’t figure out why.

I have everything updated, including the Flickr app and my iOS.

Flickr has full access to my camera roll and no other safety features engaged.

Anyone else having this issue? It will cause me to cancel my subscription if it doesn’t come back.

Thanks!

Question Is Flickr worth it in 2026 and beyond?

Hi folks,

I just rediscovered Flickr and remembered I really liked it back in the days (some 10+ years ago).

Now, I'm interested if Flickr is really worth it for sharing images again. Until now I used pic-time for my professional work and private images from holidays for sharing, but I quit doing regular professional work recently and so did my pic-time subscription.

However, I quite like the idea of sharing images with my family and friends via an online gallery rather than Google Photos or Apple Photos.

Now, is Flickr the tool for this use case and is it worth the price?

Explore Feed

Lots of people saying the Explore feed has disappeared from the new look app. Pro users are supposed to get photos regularly chosen for the feed, so how does that work if users can’t see the photos any more?

Thank you

Suggestion Liking photos on phone...

Flickr, can we just have the ability to to just double tap to like photos across all Flickr - explor, favorites, etc

I can double tap on some photos to like but some I have to tap the photo a click the little star to like.

Can we just have consistency across all.

Anyone else not getting the option as to resolution when downloading now? Doesn't matter, nothing DL anyway. Also, new icon looks really dumb.

With the old App when you swiped down you could see the exit data and Tags. With the new App I cannot see Tags.

No Screen Rotation 😡

Is anyone else pissed about the lack of screen rotation for landscape viewing in the brand new app?

It makes me not want to use Flickr on mobile again. It’s a shame because overall the new app is a nice fresh design. The lack of landscape mode is a deal breaker for me though.
