I made a little web toy-camera that turns any photo into a lo-fi snapshot

Hi everyone!

I’ve recently been obsessed with lo-fi keychain cameras and built a small browser-based experiment to capture some of that nostalgic, imperfect camera feeling.

It’s 100% free to use and runs directly in your browser, works on both desktop and mobile:
https://squeeze.cam

The attached photos are random samples, shot with my iPhone and then processed through the web app.

Hope you enjoy it, and would love to hear your thoughts!

Hello, recently someone gave me a used lomo instant with some films still inside, but when I took some pictures they came out full of ink and wierd.

I know absolutely nothing about cameras so I thought I could ask for some help here.

15 crazy minutes on Woodward Ave. and why I have a “car Holga” now. (Holga GCFN 120, Lomography 800)

After dropping off my Yashica Mat 124G for a CLA, I was driving south on Woodward through Pontiac when I spotted a blue BMW pulled over, smoking. As I drove past, I saw flames underneath, and the driver was still inside.

I fought through traffic to make a Michigan left (thanks, Metro Detroit drivers), called 911, got transferred to the fire department, and gave them the location while heading back.

By the time I got back to that side of Woodward, another driver had pulled over behind the BMW and made sure the owner had got out. The fire had grown a little. I let them know the fire department was on the way.

A work truck pulled up behind me. The driver grabbed a fire extinguisher from his cab and knocked the flames down long enough to keep things from getting worse.

Then I remembered I had my Holga 120GCFN loaded with Lomo 800 under the seat. I had cooked up the idea of a “car Holga” recently…

The first fire truck arrived as flames started coming up through the wheel well. The firefighter hit it with the hose, the tire popped, and I made a few frames from the safety of my car. Crisis mostly averted.

I headed south again.

About five or ten minutes later and traffic is stopped.

This time it was a Miata with the hood and front end torn off from a crash. My Holga was already sitting on the passenger seat, so I got the last shot on the roll before more fire trucks came flying past in my mirror, probably responding from the BMW call.

Fifteen completely unexpected minutes on Woodward.

I think this officially convinced me to keep a “car Holga” under the seat.

I’ve kept an Ilford Sprite in my glove box before, it took a year and a half to finish a roll of Kodak BW400CN, and the negatives came out just fine so I’m not too worried about keeping color negative film in the car for a while.

And, in classic Holga fashion… this roll decided to fat roll. So bonus light leaks.

Somehow, that feels like the perfect ending.

Help me please

I recently dropped off two Lomography single-use cameras to get developed. One has regular color negative film, and the other is a Lomography Purple camera.

Now I’m starting to worry about the Purple one. I’m afraid the lab might not realize it’s supposed to produce purple-shifted colors and think something went wrong during development or scanning. My concern is that they might try to “correct” the colors automatically or edit the scans because they assume they’re fixing a mistake.

Am I overthinking this, or is this something that actually happens? Should a decent lab recognize Lomography Purple film on its own, or would it be a good idea to go back and let them know that one of the cameras contains special film before they process it?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences😁

Picking up injekt prints at the lab didn’t hit the spot quite right so I decided that I need to learn how to do this myself. I’m still waiting for the film development tank to do my b&w rolls but I had a colour negative, I just finished ( Lomo Smena 8M) and simply couldn’t wait to try. The last missing pieces of kit arrived today apart from the safe light so I had to improvise using my red led head torch.
This is the effect. This is exactly what I wanted to get, I just didn’t know how. It’s exactly why I started all this. To hold a photograph just like the ones I used to as child. Simple shots done with questionable quality camera, printed on old, budget enlarger by someone without experience.
Accidentally I made myself very happy today.
Very reasonable price for all:
Enlarger £25
Easel £10
Trays £15
Chemicals and 25 sheets of Ilford £40
Smena £15

Hi! I just got the sprocket rocket for my birthday! I want to know if I can recover this roll i think i advanced the roll to far. I thought it i was supposed to count down but after watching few videos i think u was only supposed to advice slightly to the first dot. Instead i advanced to the 19th shot when original loading the roll. Can I rewind the roll and start over? I haven’t opened the camera back up.

Thank you!

Few highlights of my latest roll with the MC-A

I’ve loved this camera. Quirks and all.

I learned the OpicColour 200 works best on yellows and reds. I didn’t do enough of that this roll but will target those colors next time.
