Is there any app that I can watch Sky sports news on? I'm not in the UK so I relied on Sportsfire to watch Sky Sports News, but it stopped working. Any other suggestions?

I'm not sure if this is similar to what any of you are experiencing.. but I need all the answers I can get. And I know I’m posting on a Firestick page and not the FireTV, but Reddit told me I haven’t posted enough to contribute to the TV page.. so here I am.

We've had our FireTV for about 7 months now. My husband likes to get a long strip of LED's and stick them behind our tvs on the outer edge to have some added visual ambiance in the back drop when watching movies and it's controlled by a little remote with a coin battery. It is plugged into the tv via USB for its power source so the lights will turn on as soon as I turn on the tv.

Now, since we've installed these lights, they will turn on all on their own while the TV is off. Sometimes for 5 secs, sometimes for a whole minute or so. No one has touched the remote, nothing. I can't tell if I'm paranoid, but I swear it turns on mostly when there are noises present, almost like it's responding to something. But sometimes there is no sound occurring when this happens (middle of the night).

Now I can't sit here and say that I know the inner workings of how FireTV's work, but I can't imagine that it's "listening" to us like Alexa does. I was certain that the only audio it is capable of picking up was through the remote itself and ONLY by clicking on the microphone button. Am I missing something?

So my question is: is my TV listening to me? Or is there a glitch and it's just weirdly idling in the background making my lights respond? It creeps me out given the coincidental responding light show whenever I start talking or doing stuff in the kitchen, anything that creates noise. It's been bugging me forever and I can't think of a more perfect platform to express my concerns...

I am new to Firestick. I've read that you need to install Downloader. I've also read something about hdo box or Local send and that you need a VPN. From what I watch on YouTube the VPNs seem like you have to pay for. Can anyone explain how to do this or direct me to what to do? Not sure if this is possible but I recall you used to be able to get things like this on Firestick.

Since I've seen recently multiple posts about new update for Fire TV, I thought I'd write up about my experience. I won't tell you how to jailbreak or mod it, but just general idea what can be achieved.

I've started with two fire tv 4k max. In my living room I have a proper home cinema with Dolby Atmos (5.2.1) reasonably sized 100'' 4K TV that supports Dolby Vision. Since Fire TV main menu annoyed me I've decided to look for alternatives. After a month of testing and even purchasing Google Streamer 4K I've figured out that literally every streaming device on the market including Nvidia shield has it's shortcomings. Google streamer recoded Dolby TrueHD sound to 5.1 (no passthrough possible), Nvidia Shield has some issues with Dolby Vision or maybe it was HDR 10+, practically every device I've checked had some problems except the high end dedicated solutions that cost 500 euro and more.

So I decided to work on what I've got. I was unlucky enough that when last year there was a vulnerability in FireTV firmware that allowed for full replacement of launcher I wasn't aware of it and updated so my devices were stuck on the newer version of launcher. Not the current dreaded one but still secure one. First thing I did I've installed netguard from Amazon store and with two clicks I've blocked all future updates. Next I've ordered Fire TV Cube online. It's not normally sold by Amazon in Ireland, but I've ordered it through local Currys.

When the device arrived, as I've predicted it was on an older firmware. Older firmware was not a problem for me, as Fire TV didn't had any valuable updates from the end user perspective for ages, so I've decided to stick to it. I went through all the hoops, so I've blocked Amazon updates on my router and then set up the device just to be able to install netguard and block Amazon updates.

In next step I've replaced the launcher with Projectivy launcer. It has most options for customisation of all available launchers (at least in my experience). On Amazon device you can't get the paid version of it. It was briefly available on Amazon store, but then they quickly removed it. I even purchased the license through my phone and tried to contact dev, but had not reply. So I went high seas way. Since I've paid devs for license anyway I don't feel guilty about it.

In the end I got a fast, reliable, bloat free FireTV Cube that supports all video and audio formats with no ridiculous bloatware and all sideloaded apps that I'm using.

So I'm trying to watch MacGyver. It's on there. But it seems to be in Russian. I have my main downloader or whatnot set to what was recommended and says "En" for English. Almost everything else is in English. But some older Disney stuff is in Italian. The audio option only shows "track 1".

Is this just how it is? Like the only available stream is not English? I've checked all the settings. But if anyone has a fix let me know please. I'm also on the hunt for the old TV show "The Surreal Life". It's on there. And it shows the old characters like Flava Flav. But when it plays it's the newer one which I don't care about.

Added sound effects that can not be turned off with Disable Navigation Sounds

Just in time for the new shit version of Plex which is riddled with bugs.
Time to downgrade.

since streamfire down, Are there any other live US/UK TV apps?

I was thinking of getting the latest version of fire TV stick 4k plus, and was wondering if it allows side loading apps on it

I had my fire stick tv 4k plus connected to my 2 Echo Dot Max for Home Theater and it worked for months, but overnight it stopped working.
I reset both Echo’s and my fire stick and reinstalled and still it will not connect.
I keep seeing this image, so it sees them but won’t connect.
They are same wifi, tried 2.4 and 5 Hz.
All are updated (it says)
Any ideas?

So im using downloader and have stremio, and EMDyoutube apps like flixfision and beetv* sorry if im spelling names wrong im tired.
Do i need a vpn? And whats the worse that can happen with not using one.

When I type a name of a movie, let's say: "The Movie thaat will change your life", then I found out a misspelled word "thaat" , I want to move the cursor using the physical or digital remote control, to reach that extra "a" to delete it, without deleting everything after it or erasing the whole sentence, how?

Is it even possible?

my new TV (LG G5) doesn't support any dts format so for files with dts audio I have to use my fire tv stick 4k max 2nd gen

I have a question regarding the audio: is there any transcoding happening?
in the menu it says DTS-HD MA 5.1 but in the picture under audio it says "plex.audio.dca"

also when I check the audio settings on the fire tv stick it doesn't show any dts formats (as you can see in the pictures)

surround sound is set to "PCM" - or should I choose "best available option"?

for info: the firetv stick is plugged directly into the samsung hw-q990f soundbar

I have an AFTV 2nd gen (I know it's a bit old, but yeah). I want to block ads that come between shows and movies. I have tried that DNS method where you forget Wi-Fi, input the password again, and then add adblock DNS. It doesn't work, so please give me other methods to block those annoying ads. Also, I don't want to buy any subscriptions.

The app icon now says ‘dish’ instead of ‘Amazon firestick’ and now the Samsung tv remote doesn’t work on it. I did all the necessary settings and troubleshooting tips I found but it still won’t work. Any ideas on how to fix it to be universal on the firestick again?

I've setup bedtime on the firestick, and "reminders" on YouTube, but that seems to be the best it can do....

Any suggestions?
