Discussion What would you change about my diet?

These pictures just give an idea of what I usually eat. There isn’t a thing that I will actively avoid, but I have noticed my meat consumption has decreased recently. I don’t really focus too much on anything in my diet except getting as much variation in plant matter as I possibly can. How are the macros?

Question Can I realistically live off potatoes indefinitely?

Upvotes

I'm in the process of losing weight, I have gone from 215lb to 160lb. As a 5'5" F26, my goal weight is somewhere in the 130s. I'm not super active, but I walk 10-20k steps a day. I'm doing intermittent fasting 19:5 and my calories are currently at 1,300.

I find that it is extremely easy to stick to my calories when I have potatoes every day. I have two small gold potatoes, or Yukons, and a sweet potato. I always have the sweet potato with just salt because I like it that way. For the gold potato, I add canned mushrooms and a protein source. Sometimes chicken, sometimes fish, sometimes shrimp (my favorite).

I also have two boiled eggs every day. This all puts me at around 1000 calories and then I can use the last 300 for whatever snack I'm craving that day. Sometimes a ninja creami protein ice cream, sometimes popcorn, you get the jist.

I'm not the most trained in nutrition so I'm wondering if I can keep doing this potato thing indefinitely because it tastes amazing and makes me feel super full.

been working out for 4 years now, i have a decent physique im 6’0 165 lbs, im having a major dilemma, so basically when i first started working out like 4 years ago i went from barely eating 1500 cals and weighing 130 to eating 4000 cals everyday and gyming, i was VERY LOCKED IN , work , home , gym, sleep repeat , but now im eating 4000 cals for the past 4 years consistently and my weight has not moved up , it goes down in fluctuation or stays 165, up the cals to 4200 and nothing , how can i reset my metabolism or something, i cant eat 4200 cals a day all the time, its been unsustainable, 5,6 meals a day, mass gainer shakes and shit food just to maintain weight, im thinking the quick jump from 1500 cals to 4000 cals and eating 4000 the past 4 years my body never knew normals cals and only experienced both extremes, is there any way to lower my maintenance cals, or at least reset them????

Diet Eval Rate my diet + how can I improve

I am 17, 5’4, 118lbs, trying to put on muscle on a mostly vegetarian diet (will sometimes eat tuna). I weight train 3-5x per week and this is what I typically eat in a day:

10:00am Breakfast/Preworkout : 180g plain Greek yogurt, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 whole banana, ~1 cup plain unsweetened cornflakes or rice cereal, black coffee.

2:00pm Lunch/Postworkout: 3 eggs, 1 slice sourdough, edamame, 1-2 servings cheese, side of fruit

7:00pm Dinner: baked sweet potato with a serving of natural peanut butter, air fried tofu, green beans, feta/other type of cheese, hfcs free honey mustard/bbq sauce

10:30pm Snack: Fairlife protein shake and a serving of triscuits

This gets me to about 120g of complete protein and idk how many calories.

Diet Eval Looking for opinions on my diet

Okay so for context: I'm a 22yo woman, 171 cm, 52-53kg (or 5'7 and 115 lbs I think?). Currently my goal is to build muscle with a clean bulk and I'm trying my best to not gain too much fat. My body fat is around 16%. I work out 3 times a week (strength training) and average 11k steps a day.

Lately I've been wondering if I should eat more, especially more protein/fat. I've stopped counting calories and macros but I try to balance my meals with proteins, fat, fiber and carbs to properly fuel my body.

This is a typical day of eating for me.

Details about the meals:

Breakfast: whole wheat protein bread with cottage cheese and soft boiled egg

Lunch: tomato sauce oats, two eggs, veggies and beans with cottage cheese

Dinner: crudité plate with salad, low fat spread cheese, 2 boiled eggs, handful of nuts

Desert: yogurt, fruit, dark chocolate or maybe a few candies depending on my mood lol

Should I eat more to build muscle or will I be able to bulk with that kind of meals?

I do use olive oil here and there that you can't see and nuts if I'm hungry.

Thanks for reading, any advice/feedback will be appreciated

Vent I went to the endocrinologist; I have issues with insulin and blood sugar levels, and he prescribed a super strict diet—he even banned fruit. I’m only allowed to eat vegetables (no starchy ones) and protein, and I’m going crazy.

Review My Honest Carnimeat Review After Following the Carnivore Diet Plan for 6 Weeks

My journey with Carnimeat started after I saw it several times on Facebook but kept ignoring it. I thought it was just another meal-tracking app using the carnivore label.

With a desk job, back-to-back meetings, late-night stress eating, and no proper food routine, I finally decided to try it. At first, I was unsure because I had no idea where to begin. I also thought I would need to make major lifestyle changes just to see a small result.

What surprised me most was the personalized plan. Instead of giving me a random list of foods, Carnimeat created a plan around my daily schedule. This made everything feel much easier to manage. The 500+ recipes were also useful because I was worried about eating the same meals every week.

The first two weeks took some adjustment. I still had to prepare my meals, just in a different way, without buying any special products. I also needed to stay active and track my water intake and daily activity.

It took some time to get used to the routine, but after six weeks, I am down 11 pounds and stress eating much less. Carnimeat gave me a structure that I could actually follow, even though I initially thought it would become just another unused app on my phone.

Discussion Suggestion for diet

Hi guys,
I’m a working professional and I need some diet suggestions.
I was 78 kg and now I’m down to 72 kg in about 2 months. I think I’m losing muscle mass because my diet is very limited, and I don’t know how to cook.
My current diet is:
1 scoop of whey in the morning before going to the office.
Lunch at the office: 2 rotis, a bowl of dal, and a tetra pack of sweet lassi.
1 scoop of whey after my workout.
That’s pretty much all I eat throughout the day.
I’m 25 years old, 5’7”, and my goal is to get my muscle back while also achieving visible abs. What changes should I make to my diet? I’d appreciate any practical suggestions, especially ones that don’t require much cooking.
Just to add i am vegetarian and can have eggs.

Question I need grocery shopping help...

I'm a 26F, night shift nurse, and living with well-managed Type 2 diabetes (genetics are not my friend). My husband works full-time on his feet, so by the time we're both off, we are utterly drained. Lately, my mental health has been taking a hit, and our eating habits are starting to reflect it.

We majorly struggle to figure out what to eat. Neither of us has the time or energy to cook full meals, so I find myself snacking-which often leads to poor choices. I've worked so hard to keep my T2D managed, and I really don't want to fail myself.

One problem we are having is, we are stuck on what to buy

Most premade/convenience meals are not diabetic friendly. I love fruit, but I can't eat just fruit. I've spent hours searching online for ideas but get so overwhelmed.

It feels sad to me that I spend my work shifts educating and helping others with their health, yet I struggle trying to make a basic grocery list for my own home.

Im hoping some of you can share what your grocery shopping list looks like. i would greatly appreciate it. If it includes low carb and sugar options, even better. Thank you in advance!

Any help would be great.

Diet Eval First diet and I need a little advice from the pros

I am a 16M 5,10 who weighed around 225 LBS about 3 months ago, as of now I've lost about 20 pounds nearly 25. I have a fair amount of muscle on me from my eternal bulk and doing strength training consistently. just recently at the start of this summer I started my diet which pretty much consists of high protein low calories I've been getting around 1600 Cals, 180g protein, and 60 grams fat daily I go to the gym and lift hard every day and sometimes do cardio but other than that I just play games at home mostly.

My goal is 175 LBS.

With that out of the way I feel like I've plateaued I've been going strong with only one cheat meal the entire time, I have very little food noise and I feel pretty good other than a little lightheaded now and then but in these last two weeks I feel like been stuck on being 205-202 pounds. I have thought about it being possibly my BMR dropping because I have heard about that but I don't think I've been going that hard on myself that that would be a huge issue.

I track all my calories nearly perfectly with a scale and I always try to overshoot how many calories are in something so I don't believe it would be that and as stated earlier I never have cheat meals except for the 4th of July earlier which I didn't even eat that bad!

I work real hard and eat my protein and track my weights at the gym and I've gained a fair amount of muscle but I don't think that I could humanly put on that much muscle that it messes with the scale that much.

This is my first time ever on a diet so I don't know if its just a temporary block or something that I need to change up in my diet or maybe I just need to do more cardio (scary)

Anyways thanks for reading everyone; any advice is greatly appreciated!

Discussion Can I cut more calories?

About two years ago I was 265 lbs and not in a good place health-wise. Through a calorie deficit and a lot of time in the gym, I got down to 213. My clothes fit again, and I was even wearing some XLs.

After that I got more into heavy lifting and started taking creatine to help with recovery and strength. Now I'm back up to around 230 lbs, but I'm also noticeably stronger and carrying more muscle than I was before.

One thing I'm wondering about is calories. During my weight loss I was eating around 1,900 calories a day, and I never really increased them afterward. I've stayed around that intake while continuing to lift five days a week and still track everything I eat.

Now I feel like it's time to get serious about losing fat again, but I'm not sure I can realistically eat less than 1,900 calories while maintaining my training. I've read that taking a period at maintenance calories before returning to a deficit can sometimes help. Is there any truth to that, or is it mostly a myth?

My goal isn't to get shredded or down to 10% body fat. I'd just like to get to around 180 lbs. For reference, I'm 5'10", 48 years old, and currently 230 lbs. While I'm curious about peptides, I'd rather reach my goal without them if possible.

I'd appreciate any advice from people who've been through something similar.

Thanks in advance.

Mostly posting this because I find it kinda funny. I’ve recently started focusing on healthy eating again, alongside getting back into running and trying to start Muay Thai soon. Most of the fat comes from the amount of avocados and raw salmon I eat, a little obsessed with raw salmon right now since I’ve started buying frozen filets and curing them to be eaten throughout the week.

Question How bad are diet products?

So I’m trying to kick soda, I’m drinking diet lipton iced tea, 5 calories compared to the 180 that mountain dew is, but every person I’ve talked to says something about chemicals with diet products. (i.e. any diet beverage)

What I’m essentially asking is: Am I okay to drink Diet Lipton Ice Tea without running into health/dietary issues?
