When I got an offer from an Indian firm promising 50 LPA pay and full remote flexibility, it seemed like a dream transition. Fast forward to week one: I realized I’d landed in a classic Lala company. They have virtually no client base—just a handful of legacy IBM setups gathering dust.

I'm working brutal 15-hour days, but the real anxiety is structural: my tech stack is only tied to ONE client, and they’re completely fed up with management.

If we lose them, my stack (and likely my role) is dead in the water. Looking for advice on how to handle this stress and plan my exit.

Over the years, I've heard a few things at work that have stuck with me:

- Spend more to earn more.

- Don't box yourself.

- Life is not a sprint, it's a marathon.

These changed how I think about work and my career.

What's one workplace philosophy or mindset that has stayed with you?

I am a 2025 graduate. I never wanted to pursue engineering, I wanted to go into academia and pursue research but my mother didn't want me to leave the city. My father passed away years ago and I have just an older sister. There was no choice but to take engineering. Now, there were other things going on in my life which led to me being depressed. I tried to share it with my family but the same old Indian mentality of not giving a dime about mental health prevented me from getting help. I gained weight and led a static lifestyle. All my engineering went like this until my close friend noticed and helped me in getting some professional help. (Payed for it by doing some part time jobs unbeknownst to my family). Although I feel better now, I realise I am lacking far behind. All these talks of AI overtaking the job market doesn't help either. What should I do? Where should I start? I am basically going to start from scratch. Please help me out. Any advice will be appreciated.

Applying for Devops/Cloud/Python/Sre/DevsecOps roles.

I have done everything for ATS Optimization and yet I still cant figure out the reason for no callbacks.

Current CTC:- 8.66 LPA

Expecting:- 14 to 15 LPA.

Either I am asking too low or too much. I cant figure it out.

I just graduated with a CS degree from a college in India. Unfortunately, my college had almost no placements. Not a single company visited during my time there, so everything depends on off campus applications. (They had placement last year though)

To make things worse, I realized pretty late how important campus hiring is in India. By the time I started applying seriously, most of the large companies had already closed their applications for freshers. That was completely on me.

Now I'm seeing how difficult the market is for fresh graduates. It feels like almost every decent opening wants 1 to 3 years of experience. Even if someone has the skills, getting past the ATS without professional experience is incredibly difficult.

Another thing that's making me question my career choice is the lifestyle. Even if I get a software job, I know I'll have to keep learning constantly. Work all day, come home, study new technologies, keep up with AI and tech news, build projects, and stay competitive because the industry changes so fast.

I'm not against learning. I actually enjoy it. But I'm wondering if I can realistically do this for the next 30 or 40 years.

The screen time also worries me. An 8 or 9 hour workday already means staring at a monitor. Then learning after work means even more screen time. Even relaxing usually involves another screen, whether it's YouTube, Netflix, or gaming. It feels like my entire life would revolve around a computer, and I'm worried about the long term impact on my physical and mental health.

What really made me think was one of my college friends.

He got a job at a company that processes Australian insurance claims. His work is mostly reviewing documents, verifying information, contacting hospitals or third parties if something is missing, and forwarding cases to the next department. It's not a glamorous job, but it's relatively low stress. He earns higher then what CS freshers with great skills earn here, with a chance of a raise after a few months. He gets four paid leaves every month, has a predictable workday, and when work ends, work actually ends.

Seeing that made me realize that maybe not every career has to involve constant pressure to stay relevant.

Now I'm genuinely confused.

I'm not saying I want to quit tech tomorrow. If I get a software job, I'll definitely take it and give it my best. But I'm trying to think long term.

I'm also considering doing a master's abroad in the future, but I don't necessarily want to continue in software engineering if there's a better fit.

So my questions are:

• Are there careers that someone with an IT background can realistically switch into without starting completely from zero?
• Are there industries where a master's degree can help you transition successfully, even if your bachelor's wasn't in that field?
• Are there careers with better work-life balance but still good long term earning potential? I'm not looking for an easy job. I just want something where I can grow professionally without feeling like I have to constantly fight to stay employable.
• If you were in my position today, what path would you seriously consider?

I'm open to hearing from people in tech, people who left tech, and people working in completely different industries.

I'm not looking for validation. I'm looking for honest advice from people who have actually experienced this.

Was in a one on one with my director and I am still learning how to say stuff in the corporate language or the sugarcoated tone.

"It's been a year since you are here and you have shown growth, but we urge you to level up your pace so we can trust you more"

Does he basically means, I am not performing enough as I should be for a year of experience and they will fire me since they don't consider my work is enough as compared to my teammates.

He is generally very professional in his tone. But uses Sugarcoating once in a while. This time, the entire one on one was sugarcoated sentences.

So the thing is I am a prefinal year student,my 6 th sem is running and tomorrow is my computer network examination and also my interview(role: Backend Development) at cars24🙂. Today I had a call with HR and she asked basic questions and then told me they are scheduling an interview, Now the thing is I don't have any idea about the cars24 interview round, I messaged many persons who are currently working at the company in linkedin but no reply back ...I am actually feeling nervous cause I have to prepare for the examination too ....after the examination I will have to give the interview....so anyone who has the experience with cars24 please share the details..as I know it will be a technical interview doesn't know the specification..

I am going to complete a year in a decent mnc as an SDE1 and I’m feeling that my potential is not at all being used. Was constantly passionate throughout my life but this job and corporate has got to me in just a year. People around me don’t care much about all this as long as they are getting a decent pay. People just talk about VISIBILITY and then think of ways constantly to be more VISIBLE (ways which don’t technically focus on work but everything else).

With the introduction of AI and constant use no one is actually writing code or really developing. I constantly feel and wish that I was in a place where I had more control of the product. Creating something that impacts customers even if it’s a small impact is what I constantly wanted and thought a role in this field would lead to. But that is not looking possible. Sometime I even wonder if I should try to shift to APM roles but don’t think the market is really good and a simple BTech degree will help me make the cut.

Is this common? Would a job switch help or is the career path not working out?

I have worked with multiple early stage startups before , both as an Intern and Fulltime role in AI ML field. In my last job, the founder abruptly quit and since then I have been looking for jobs, got shortlisted for a few and one common thing was that they lose credibility when I mention that I worked with startups.

​Profile: 2025 B.Tech grad (this is my first full-time job).

​Current Role: Working at a fully remote, bootstrapped startup (<10 employees) for the past 7+ months.

​Current CTC: 4 LPA.

​What I do: I’ve had my hands in quite a few things—Android, Flutter, FastAPI, RAG pipelines, Docker, and AWS fundamentals for deployment.

​The Culture: The company culture is genuinely good and very flexible, but because it’s bootstrapped, there’s no clear structure for appraisals, growth, or hikes.

​My Biggest Concern: The "AI Imposter Syndrome"

​Here’s the harsh truth: most of my actual coding is done by Claude.

​Don't get me wrong, I’ve learned a lot. I know how to plan an architecture, build things from scratch, and deploy them to the real world. I focus on how to make scalable designs, but when it comes to the actual coding part, I let Claude handle it. Because of this, I can't confidently say I have deep, syntax-level knowledge of the packages and languages I use. Even deployment feels redundant now because I've done it before and just repeat the process.

​Right now, I am feeling a bit lost because things are too comfortable. I don't need to code much, and I’m starting to worry that my core programming fundamentals might be taking a hit.

​What I want to know from you guys:

​The Market Reality: Am I underpaid at 4 LPA, or is this fair right now given how tough the current job market is for freshers? I'm not complaining at all; I just want to know how things actually look outside my home office.

​The Next Step: How do I break out of this comfort zone? What should my preparation strategy look like if my goal is to switch to a 10-12 LPA role from here?

I interviewed for a role at Flipkart. It's been 15 days, and I haven't received any feedback yet.

I've followed up with the recruiter a few times. She isn't ghosting me, but every time the response is simply that there's "no update".

The complication is that I may have another offer decision to make soon.

Would it be considered unprofessional if I politely reached out to:

1. the interviewer (who took my first round), or

2. the hiring manager

Just to ask whether the process is still ongoing and if I'm still under consideration?

I'm not asking them to expedite the process or influence the decision, just trying to get clarity because HR hasn't been able to provide any update.

I have built a gamified focus app where you can block distracting apps or flip your phone face down to focus. you can focus together with your friends too and there is a leaderboard. the idea is that you collect sticks as a beaver to build dams on real-life river maps and focus. the more sticks you have, the more higher you rank in the leaderboard. it makes focusing fun and social.

I was frustrated with social and smartphone media addiction so I thought of making this app so other people who are facing the same problem can benefit from it.

Hi all

I have around 3 YOE(2 as an SDE, 1 as an AI Engineer). I got laid off on STEM OPT, and I plan on going back to India in about a week.

I still have not made up my mind whether I want to stay back and work in India or move to a different country after, but looking at how things are going in other countries such as Canada, Australia or Germany with the rise in anti-immigrant sentiments and shitty job markets across all these countries I think I'll just prioritize India.

I just wanted to seek some advice as to what someone in my position can realistically do. I still have a huge student loan to pay off which was from an Indian bank, and anything below 10LPA with full WFO would just make zero sense for me financially.

I want to continue doing AI Engineering/MLOps, and am targeting at least 15LPA WFO or like 12LPA WFH. I don't know whether this is super unrealistic given my level of experience. I would love to know if there are some specific caveats or nuances about the Indian job market(like what job boards to use, when to apply, resume format etc)that could help me find such roles and get interviews. I am pretty clueless about the job search process in India, as me and all of my friends who are still in India just got their jobs through campus placements.

Also how do I negotiate a competitive offer with HR? As my previous salary in India(when I was a fresher) was only 6LPA.

Joined on 2nd March as an APM (fresher) and now it's almost 5 months of work experience, I want to focus on CAT for MBA and quit the job but I am anxious about my future job hunt if CAT didn't turn out well.

Will it be hard to get back the same role after 3-4 months of CAT prep? Do i need to start from zero again because I didn't cross the 1 year work experience before quitting? What you guys suggest?

Entered job market again after 2 months of break after leaving job. And it's so irritating at the moment. The level of expectations from a person is out of the roof.
Been rejected at last round in 3 loops in the HM rounds. And now getting rejected at even 1st rounds.
For me I'm giving frontend engineering interviews. But interviews tend to be around everything.
Getting asked codeforces style problems in the name of React/JS rounds.

To all the experienced folks here, how are you getting offers with 90 days notice? They're not even considering one month notice, just say "we need immediate joiners" and cut the call. It has become impossible to switch as no company is ready to go to interview stage too. Also, some of the decent companies i applied to, sent me auto rejection emails. Just received my Amazon SDE Online Assessment invitation today after my resume got shortlisted. I'm really excited because I know getting past the resume screening itself is pretty competitive.

For those who have taken the Amazon SDE OA recently, how was your experience? Were the coding questions mostly LeetCode Medium or did you find them harder? Was there anything that caught you off guard during the assessment? If you were preparing for it again, what would you spend the most time on?

I will be joining btech cse (ai ml ).

I was a very good student(won olympiad medals,10th 96% , also scored always good marks in jee mock tests) but then due to some reasons my mind drifted away from studies from November due to which I messed up my jee main . And now I am joining a btech CSE(ai ml) in tier 5(or worse) college :- SSTC bhilai .

I visited the campus today and met the teachers too and I literally cried from the core of my heart .I also got emotional thinking of my mom ,my father will retire in few years and my mom has hopes from me ,she started crying on call with me . She is the most pure soul and cares for everybody but nobody cares for her .

I know in whatever situation I am ,its because of me and I have regret for it but I dont want to be stuck here forever .

Hey everyone, I have been working in the embedded field for over 4 years (2.5 years in India and the rest abroad). I am now in a situation where I have to move back to India and work for my current company from there. I am thinking about taking a 2-month break to upskill and handle some personal paperwork and documentation.

How much will a 2-month gap affect my future job hunt?

Architecture diagrams have two failure modes. Three boxes that say nothing, or a hairball of two thousand nodes that says everything at once, which is also nothing. Both get screenshotted for a deck and never opened again

Neiither answers the question you actually have in a new repo, which is not "what connects to what". It is "where am I, and does this matter".

So I built the other thing. A map you zoom into

The whole repo is one card. Zoom in and it opens into layers, then folders, then files, then functions. It is continuous, like a map app going from country to street. No level dropdown, no reload, no re-layout between steps, so you never lose your place.

What makes it readable:

Cards are sized by how the system runs, not by line count. Entry points, what everything routes through, what churns. The code you should look at first is physically the biggest thing on screen.

Each card carries a health dot, rolled up so a folder reflects everything inside it. You find the bad neighbourhood from orbit and then dive.

Edges only appear when you hover a box, and only that box's edges, curved around the other cards rather than through them. That single decision is most of the difference between a map and a hairball.

Two things I got wrong on the way, in case they save someone else the afternoon:

Folder node ids were keyed on path alone, so the same folder path under two different layers collided and about 30% of files silently vanished from the map. It still looked completely plausible, which is the dangerous part.

Cards had a fixed aspect ratio applied in local space while every parent restretched its children. So the ratio compounded once per level. Fine at depth 3, a stack of slivers by depth 7.

The performance answer, for anyone who assumes this dies at scale: you never draw the whole repo. Anything off screen or smaller than a couple of pixels is skipped, so a frame draws a few dozen cards whether the tree has 2,000 nodes or 10,000. Cost stops scaling with repo size, which was the point

None of it is LLM generated. It is built from parsing the code and reading git history, so it cannot hallucinate a module or drift from reality
