I am going to complete a year in a decent mnc as an SDE1 and I’m feeling that my potential is not at all being used. Was constantly passionate throughout my life but this job and corporate has got to me in just a year. People around me don’t care much about all this as long as they are getting a decent pay. People just talk about VISIBILITY and then think of ways constantly to be more VISIBLE (ways which don’t technically focus on work but everything else).

With the introduction of AI and constant use no one is actually writing code or really developing. I constantly feel and wish that I was in a place where I had more control of the product. Creating something that impacts customers even if it’s a small impact is what I constantly wanted and thought a role in this field would lead to. But that is not looking possible. Sometime I even wonder if I should try to shift to APM roles but don’t think the market is really good and a simple BTech degree will help me make the cut.

Is this common? Would a job switch help or is the career path not working out?

Entered job market again after 2 months of break after leaving job. And it's so irritating at the moment. The level of expectations from a person is out of the roof.
Been rejected at last round in 3 loops in the HM rounds. And now getting rejected at even 1st rounds.
For me I'm giving frontend engineering interviews. But interviews tend to be around everything.
Getting asked codeforces style problems in the name of React/JS rounds.

To all the experienced folks here, how are you getting offers with 90 days notice? They're not even considering one month notice, just say "we need immediate joiners" and cut the call. I interviewed for a role at Flipkart. It's been 15 days, and I haven't received any feedback yet.

I've followed up with the recruiter a few times. She isn't ghosting me, but every time the response is simply that there's "no update".

The complication is that I may have another offer decision to make soon.

Would it be considered unprofessional if I politely reached out to:

1. the interviewer (who took my first round), or

2. the hiring manager

Just to ask whether the process is still ongoing and if I'm still under consideration?

I wanted to know where you guys find a good ca ? Im specifically asking for lower income brackets like 15-25LPA and what would their fees be.

My dad does have a CA but he’s more business oriented. My filing would be relatively simpler. I only invest in mutual funds - don’t actively trade stocks.

How do you then verify if they’re really doing the best possible job. Also i don’t want to end up paying more as their fees than they’re helping me save lol.

I just graduated with a CS degree from a college in India. Unfortunately, my college had almost no placements. Not a single company visited during my time there, so everything depends on off campus applications. (They had placement last year though)

To make things worse, I realized pretty late how important campus hiring is in India. By the time I started applying seriously, most of the large companies had already closed their applications for freshers. That was completely on me.

Now I'm seeing how difficult the market is for fresh graduates. It feels like almost every decent opening wants 1 to 3 years of experience. Even if someone has the skills, getting past the ATS without professional experience is incredibly difficult.

Another thing that's making me question my career choice is the lifestyle. Even if I get a software job, I know I'll have to keep learning constantly. Work all day, come home, study new technologies, keep up with AI and tech news, build projects, and stay competitive because the industry changes so fast.

I'm not against learning. I actually enjoy it. But I'm wondering if I can realistically do this for the next 30 or 40 years.

The screen time also worries me. An 8 or 9 hour workday already means staring at a monitor. Then learning after work means even more screen time. Even relaxing usually involves another screen, whether it's YouTube, Netflix, or gaming. It feels like my entire life would revolve around a computer, and I'm worried about the long term impact on my physical and mental health.

What really made me think was one of my college friends.

He got a job at a company that processes Australian insurance claims. His work is mostly reviewing documents, verifying information, contacting hospitals or third parties if something is missing, and forwarding cases to the next department. It's not a glamorous job, but it's relatively low stress. He earns higher then what CS freshers with great skills earn here, with a chance of a raise after a few months. He gets four paid leaves every month, has a predictable workday, and when work ends, work actually ends.

Seeing that made me realize that maybe not every career has to involve constant pressure to stay relevant.

Now I'm genuinely confused.

I'm not saying I want to quit tech tomorrow. If I get a software job, I'll definitely take it and give it my best. But I'm trying to think long term.

I'm also considering doing a master's abroad in the future, but I don't necessarily want to continue in software engineering if there's a better fit.

So my questions are:

• Are there careers that someone with an IT background can realistically switch into without starting completely from zero?
• Are there industries where a master's degree can help you transition successfully, even if your bachelor's wasn't in that field?
• Are there careers with better work-life balance but still good long term earning potential? I'm not looking for an easy job. I just want something where I can grow professionally without feeling like I have to constantly fight to stay employable.
• If you were in my position today, what path would you seriously consider?

Just graduated, ~1 year of internship experience at a product-based company. Currently interviewing for SDE-1 roles. DSA is in reasonable shape, but I'm stuck on two things and the advice online contradicts itself, so asking people who've cleared these rounds recently.

**1. Should I even prepare LLD?**

Some people say LLD/machine coding rounds don't come up at SDE-1 and it's all DSA. Others say it's the round that filters most people. Which is it in practice? And if it does come up, how much is expected — fully working code, or a clean class design with the core methods?

**2. How do you prepare for leadership principle / behavioural rounds?**

This is the part I'm least sure about. With only internship experience, I have maybe two or three things I genuinely owned end to end. How do you build enough material out of that? How deep do the follow-up questions go, and is it a problem to reuse the same project across different principles?

So recently i received a Microsoft Certification Voucher which allows me to take any Microsoft Certification exam for free.

Originally I wanted to pursue the Developer Associate Exam but it has been discontinued and succeeded by the Ai Cloud Developer Associate Exam.

I am a CSE 26 grad. I know that getting any of these certifications won't automatically get me a job but i don't want to waste the voucher on a fundamental certificate.

Was in a one on one with my director and I am still learning how to say stuff in the corporate language or the sugarcoated tone.

"It's been a year since you are here and you have shown growth, but we urge you to level up your pace so we can trust you more"

Does he basically means, I am not performing enough as I should be for a year of experience and they will fire me since they don't consider my work is enough as compared to my teammates.

He is generally very professional in his tone. But uses Sugarcoating once in a while. This time, the entire one on one was sugarcoated sentences.

I needed to sit back after the meeting to see what he meant

1. My teammates complaining of me

2. Product is complaining of me

3. I take time completing tasks and not enough comments to justify why

There are 2 openings internally , which I’m debating for what would be a better transition in terms of long run , better career prospects , less AI effect and overall growth.

2. Don’t have an exact name , but think of it like “Systems Engineer”

For firmware engineer, it will build my expertise in SSD and NAND based layers primarily

For the 2nd option : We provide a rack having multiple SSD’s capacity being exposed through a single software layer. This work will revolve primarily on that layer while ensuring device detection and all other functionality throughout the life cycle. So develops knowledge across both software and firmware layer.

Context :
1. Firmware development team is already 40 plus in members
2. Systems engineer will be a newly formed team , and hence might need some time to carve out work.
