So, I'm a 26 grad student and I was a 6-month intern at Amazon and I'll be joining as SDE-1 in about 10-15 days. Prior to my Amazon experience , I had ML/LLM experience only, so the Amazon experience I got to learn backend and system design type stuff a lot.

I feel I've always anchored my life towards something, next is this stop or that target or next I want to do this, which I am unsure of right now what that should be, what the next target should be. I understand the workload and all will surely increase but incase I get time off say per day basis or weekend I want to know what my aim should be.

As for my interests , I kind of liked quant python dev areas, where i had few interviews, and 1 offer from tier-3ish firm.

I have built a gamified focus app where you can block distracting apps or flip your phone face down to focus. you can focus together with your friends too and there is a leaderboard. the idea is that you collect sticks as a beaver to build dams on real-life river maps and focus. the more sticks you have, the more higher you rank in the leaderboard. it makes focusing fun and social.

I’ve been working as a .net software dev in a cybersecurity/product based company since June of 2025. I interned here from my 7th Sem and got an offer for 5lpa right as I completed my exams. I completed my BE from a good college in bangalore.

This job is kinda okay, I handle a web application all by myself (and claude code ofc) from UI, APIs and web integration. Only the design is done from another team. I have been on this project from scratch and been on this so far. My manager is the senior VP of product developm, so he’s kinda busy but gives me my tasks and the features and checks it from time to time. I’ve built this trust over the year that I can develop the application, so he kinda lets me do it my own way now.

This whole year I thought I had it good and was enjoying things without really worrying, but since the past week, I calculated the best case scenario of a salary w.r.t the appraisal I got this time and it scared me. Getting 10%, 12% here will still not be enough and the work environment is not that good, WFO 5 days a week (they do have transport facility) and the tech used for the applications are not new.

Now, I’m wondering whether I should sit and prepare for CAT 2027 and crack IIMs (I have been good at studies so far) or start applying elsewhere. I fucked around during my placements and found out lol😭. My college guys are already planning to buy cars and assets when I’m only going paycheck to paycheck (I go on trips with my friends often).

Need real guidance or advice from anyone in a good position as to how can I get to a better place with a better environment. Should I be this worried about life and jobs right now?

I came across the above Job Description for an FDE ( Forward Deployed Engineer ) role.

As always, when there is some trend happening, the industry slaps that name on anything to gain attention. This seems to be one of those.

Why?

"Voice AI, RaG, Agentic Architecture, LLMs, Prompt Engineering" - You already calling out the solutions.

"present actionable recommendations" - This is what a consultant does. A FDE not only recommends but implements.

What else is missing?

- Problem Discovery
- Ambiguous Client Environment
- Deployment

And this is not the first time. We have seen this Product Owner / Product Manager being mixed up the entire time without knowing what it actually is.

While Companies do it for many reasons sometimes even intentionally to gain attention in a crowded market, we candidates can do our homework and be better informed rather than simply applying and believing.

To people who are already on the job - What does on the job FDE role look like in India?

Back in 2018, as a fresher, I joined a large IT services company and absconded during the training period after a few weeks to take a better offer elsewhere. There was a service bond (~₹1L) I never paid, and I never got a relieving letter. Because that employer tacked on a notice period, my exit date in EPFO got recorded about a month after I actually left, which now shows as a ~16-day overlap with my next employer in my UAN service history.

I've also never listed this employer anywhere, not on my resume, not in any job application, since it was such a short/abrupt stint. So there's a second layer to this: it's not just an overlap, it's an undisclosed employer that still shows up in my UAN/EPFO service history.

I've since moved abroad and my record has been clean ever since. I may return to India for work in the next few years, and honestly my only real worry is whether this ancient mess fails a background verification (BGV).

What I already understand: my UAN / EPFO service history only shows the dates (i.e. the overlap). It does not show "reason for leaving" or anything about absconding or the bond. So the absconding only exists in that old employer's internal HR system, not in any government record.

Questions for anyone who's been through this:

1. Has a service overlap in your UAN ever actually caused a BGV to fail or get flagged? Or do agencies not care about a short overlap from years ago?

2. If you left an employer off your resume, but it still shows in your UAN service history, does that mismatch itself get flagged as a red flag (concealment) even if the stint itself was harmless? Would it have been better to just list it?

3. Do BGV agencies actually go back and directly contact a 7-year-old, ~1-month employer to ask about reason-for-leaving or dues? Or do they mostly just verify dates from UAN plus your resume-listed/relevant employers?

4. If you had an absconding / no-relieving-letter / unpaid-bond situation with an old employer, how did it play out in a later BGV, did you disclose it, explain it, or did it just never come up?

5. Does it differ for private-sector jobs vs government / cleared roles? (I'm open to both.)

6. Anyone recommend a lawyer or BGV/PF consultant you personally used who handled something like this successfully? Real experiences only, please, not the consultants who spam these threads.

Entered job market again after 2 months of break after leaving job. And it's so irritating at the moment. The level of expectations from a person is out of the roof.
Been rejected at last round in 3 loops in the HM rounds. And now getting rejected at even 1st rounds.
For me I'm giving frontend engineering interviews. But interviews tend to be around everything.
Getting asked codeforces style problems in the name of React/JS rounds.

3 years remote at a US company, first job out of college, small team, wore every hat possible. now looking to switch to indian companies and realizing the "remote for a foreign company" setup might complicate things:

• will background verification / HR process even map cleanly since it's not a typical indian employer setup? (NO PF, NO salary slips as such, NO ITR except 44ADA)
• does remote-for-US experience get valued the same as working for an indian company when it comes to interviews/leveling?

​I’m looking for a reality check and some roadmap advice from the community. Here is my current situation:

​Profile: 2025 B.Tech grad (this is my first full-time job).

​Current Role: Working at a fully remote, bootstrapped startup (<10 employees) for the past 7+ months.

​Current CTC: 4 LPA.

​What I do: I’ve had my hands in quite a few things—Android, Flutter, FastAPI, RAG pipelines, Docker, and AWS fundamentals for deployment.

​The Culture: The company culture is genuinely good and very flexible, but because it’s bootstrapped, there’s no clear structure for appraisals, growth, or hikes.

​My Biggest Concern: The "AI Imposter Syndrome"

​Here’s the harsh truth: most of my actual coding is done by Claude.

​Don't get me wrong, I’ve learned a lot. I know how to plan an architecture, build things from scratch, and deploy them to the real world. I focus on how to make scalable designs, but when it comes to the actual coding part, I let Claude handle it. Because of this, I can't confidently say I have deep, syntax-level knowledge of the packages and languages I use. Even deployment feels redundant now because I've done it before and just repeat the process.

​Right now, I am feeling a bit lost because things are too comfortable. I don't need to code much, and I’m starting to worry that my core programming fundamentals might be taking a hit.

​What I want to know from you guys:

​The Market Reality: Am I underpaid at 4 LPA, or is this fair right now given how tough the current job market is for freshers? I'm not complaining at all; I just want to know how things actually look outside my home office.

​The Next Step: How do I break out of this comfort zone? What should my preparation strategy look like if my goal is to switch to a 10-12 LPA role from here?
