Discussion It happened to me and I felt bad about this one…

Upvotes

I was on a flight home from a national sales meeting. Very tired. I chose the window seat as I planned on falling asleep. There was an old lady in the middle seat maybe 70 years old. She told me that this was her first time flying and said she’s always dreamed of looking out the window. She was definitely hinting at a switch, and the lady in the aisle seat stuck her nose in saying “if she was in the window she’d switch with her” but I didn’t ask many follow up questions she then asked if i could open the window which I did and let her gaze over me…I felt bad but whatcha gonna do amiright?

The Quiet Skies Act, H.R. 9530 introduced June 19, 2026 by Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI), Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ), Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR), and Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA)

In 2018 legislation was passed telling the FAA to ban voice calls through portable electronics on planes, but they never got around to it. This bill requires them to enact the rule within 180 of the bill's enactment.

You can track the status at congress.gov

Call your reps and ask them to get this passed.

News Delta has sold 8 total seats for its first week of Saudi Arabia flights on ATL to RUH in October

Given the Middle East situation, I doubt this route will actually fly at this rate.

Delta was given massive subsidies to fly this route, but literal empty planes don't work for the profit margins.

I remember people squawking about the power of the ATL connecting hub, but that fundamentally doesn't matter since people aren't clamoring to go to Riyadh and it doesn't make sense to double connect in ATL and RUH to go to where you want.

Watched this checked box miss its flight from Austin to Seattle. Boarded the plane and watched it get put aside and left. The Seattle flight was just on the other side of the concourse. Next truck that came looked at it and just shook his head (25 minutes until SEA departure at that point). Another came, looked at it and actually radioed someone (15 minutes to go). Nobody came. We pushed back for JFK after the SEA flight.

Help/Advice Genuine rant I’m going to cry

1.1k Upvotes

Tagged as help/advice but honestly just a rant icl

My flight was scheduled for yesterday at 9:30 p.m.

Yesterday at 3 pm we are told it’s going to be delayed to 11:30. We dawdle around the town for a bit but still get to the airport around 6:00. Sitting at the gate and they tell us the plane is having maintenance issues or something. Delayed to 11:50. Delayed to 00:20. Delayed to 00:50.

It gets to 00:10 and they basically tell us ‘we are getting the crew and pilots here, their flight lands at 00:50, and they will come straight here.’ Delayed to 1:30.

The pilots arrive around 1:15 and people are genuinely clapping and cheering as they walk past. They get on the plane and the ground crew announce ‘we are just letting the ac on the plane kick in and then we will start boarding.’

10 minutes later? ‘Our first officer has timed out and the flight will take off at 10:30 am.’

At this point it is 1:30 in the morning and everyone’s like ‘okay if it takes off at 10 we can still get a couple hours of sleep.’ Everyone leaves to go get shuttles to hotels.

As we are literally standing outside waiting for the shuttle the flight is changed to 7:45 in the morning. We debate it and then decide to go to the hotel anyway.

Get to the hotel around 2:30 and go straight to sleep, up at 4:00 because I couldn’t sleep. During the night the flight has been changed AGAIN to 8:30. We get a 5:00 shuttle to the airport and spend some time getting food and etc with the meal vouchers we were given. Finally we board the flight, push back and taxi to the tarmac. EVERYONE on board is literally sleeping because we all got <2 hours of sleep.

And IT DOESNT END THERE.

There are incoming thunderstorms and the Canadian airspace is CLOSED for at least the next 30 minutes so we have now been sat on the tarmac for just over an hour. They don’t know when this flight is going to take off or even if the flight will ever take off.

I am actually near tears because I am so tired and I was going to get 18 hours in Vermont to visit my grandparents before going home to England and those hours are slowly dwindling to a close.

Keep in mind this flight is just over an hour. The drive is 10 hours. We would literally be there by now if we just drove instead. I’m scared I won’t get to visit my grandparents and I’m so tired and exhausted of this shit.

Rant over thanks for listening.

*UPDATE*
It gets worse then better haha

After we sat on the tarmac for 2.5 hours they told us ‘the Canadian airspace will open at 10:30’. 10:30 -> they announce ‘the airspace is open… BUT we’ve been sat on the tarmac too long and we don’t have enough fuel’

So we basically had to go back to the gate, deplane, sit around for 45 minutes, then get back onto the plane. We finally took off at around 12:10, and I got to my grandparents house at 3:15 pm.

Having caffeinated myself a bit more and settled down from the stress I’m just ready to put it behind me. But I will say it has been the worst flying experience of my life thus far. I genuinely thought for a solid chunk there that the flight was just not going to happen. Every time it felt like we might go, something happened. It just felt like the flight was never going to get into the air. Even when we landed in Burlington it didn’t feel real. As we took off I kept expecting them to say ‘sorry guys we actually have to ground the plane for XYZ reason’

Thank you guys all so much for your advice and support and I hope this is not an experience I will ever repeat.

Discussion Free international Delta one upgrade

About a month ago I bought a family member a round trip from JFK to Hong Kong in premium select via Chase for 133k points, the upgrade price to Delta one for lax to Hong Kong was $500 so they purchased that and the upgrade price on the return was 5k so they skipped that.

A couple days ago I was checking to see the price and when I clicked it it just moved them and didn’t take me to the payment page, so I clicked done and it moved them.

I waited a day to see if I was a glitch then called them and asked them If they could send me a new receipt showing the seat assignments and they transferred me to the ticketing department and told me the ticket had been reissued and sent the new receipt showing both the flights in delta one and then shortly after I got a email from Chase saying there was an itinerary change showing the Hong Kong to lax in delta one.

Has anyone experienced this or have any insight on why it did?

Premium select is nearly empty and there was only 3 delta one seats when this happen.

Discussion Flights from ATL cost significantly more than flights with transfer at ATL

I recently moved to Atlanta from Huntsville. I frequently fly to the northeast (Vermont). Earlier when I was flying from HSV, most of the time I was transferring from ATL. When I moved to ATL a few months ago, I thought my flights would be cheaper since it would be a direct flight. However, to my surprise, I found that the fares were a bit higher than what I used to pay from HSV. And now, with airfares generally being much higher than usual, I noticed that the price from HSV has barely gone up, but it's significantly higher from ATL (for example, the cheapest ones being $329 from HSV vs $449 from ATL, both roundtrip and for the same dates). Is this normal? Any advice?

If you are flying and need to charge you need to get a German / European or a UK charger.

They stay in the outlet at your seat. Get one with multiple USB outlets help your seatmates. Be the hero.

That USB port is worn out... So I'd the power outlet for US chargers.

Looks like any Airbnb experience booking made by August 6th gets 2k bonus miles (https://news.delta.com/go-beyond-summer-deltas-sun-drenched-offers-are-back-bonus-miles-travel-deals-and-more)

Nice little bonus for anyone traveling in the next month.

Delta Amex Worth upgrading to Delta Platinum card to get Silver Medallion next year?

Upvotes

Currently sitting at $1,664 MQDs, and am projecting to barely hit $2,500 MQDs for the year. The $2,500 MQD Headstart would then get me just across the finish line for Silver Medallion.

I currently have a 10k Mile upgrade offer from Gold to Platinum on the Amex website. The difference between their annual fees are $200, so the upgrade offer would cover ~$135 of it for the first year, meaning that it’s essentially only ~$65 to upgrade from Gold to Platinum for me.

So, is it worth paying what basically is $65 to upgrade to the Platinum and get Silver Medallion next year? A lot of the benefits between the Platinum card and Silver Medallion overlap, and for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be qualifying for Silver Medallion until early-December of this year, and I’ll most likely be taking at least 10 Delta flights next year.

Discussion Amex, Delta card spending soars

Thumbnail paymentsdive.com

Amex paid Delta $8.2 billion in 2025. Delta expects $9 billion from Amex for 2026. Send a message to Delta management and stop swiping your Delta Amex for purchases and transactions. Use other credit cards. Those SkyPesos you’re earning by using your Delta Amex are just that: devalued to mere pesos. And Delta would rather any incremental revenue rather than giving you an upgrade for your loyalty and your status- even selling upgrades to first for as little as $26. Use another credit card instead of your Delta Amex. Send a message to Delta management that you deserve to be treated better, instead of the product constantly eroding and degrading, as Delta management and airline industry management constantly cut costs, at your expense. Send a message to the airline industry as a whole- use a non-airline credit card.

News United status match offer for NYC-area

Upvotes

Just received an email from United with a "special New York‑area offer." I am not sure how special the offer is, maybe more accelerated than regular status matches, but they are looking to poach if anyone is interested.

I will not be going for it this time around because I am sticking with Delta in the hopes quality remains as good as it has been in the last several years, and don't want to use up a status match that I may need in the future. But I am tempted due to Delta prices, recent inconsistent service, slow wifi, and low value of SkyMiles.

What they are saying on their status match site about my DL Diamond is:

"The equivalent level in MileagePlus is Premier 1K"

So, if interested, look out for that email from UA, or reach out to them. Maybe it is beyond NYC area, but that is the message that I got.

Help/Advice Question on seat 16C - A320

Upvotes

Hi all - I am considering the exit row seat 16C. The only info I can find online is that it has extra pitch and that I might not be able to stow a bag under the seat in front if me (one source says just during takeoff and landing). Does anyone know if that is true? I like having extra room, but I would also like my bag within reach. Thank you.

Hoping to get some guidance, flying KLM Business Class from LAX to AMS tomorrow. The flight was booked directly through KLM. Does this make me eligible to use the Delta One lounge at LAX and the exclusive entrance?

Discussion It finally happened to me

2.8k Upvotes

It was a connecting flight to Vegas in SLC. I had purchased a delta comfort seat next to the bathroom where you have a wall in front of you instead of another row. Lots of legroom.

When I got on the plane a woman was in my seat. I said. “Excuse Me, I think you’re in my seat” she replied, “Oh yeah we all got mixed around, (as she made a pointing motion around to no general person) can you just take that one?” (then motioned to the seat directly across from
the bathroom door).

At first I looked seat and thought, “well it’s also an aisle, just as good, whatever.” However, After I sat down I soon realized the man in the middle seat was quite large and taking up both armrests. Not to mention as I sat questioning if I should tell her to get out of my seat, a few people were using the restroom and the combination of the door, along with people waiting made me realize there was no doubt I’d been had.

I eventually stood up and told her Id like the seat I paid for. She made no argument and swapped back to her original seat.

Lots of flights, but it was my first time with a prospective seat bandit! ha.

Discussion New Credit Card Push?

We all saw the recent reports on how much AmEx is paying Delta with their partnership, but yesterday was the first time I heard a DL FA pushing the credit card on the flight. He even had a QR code on his badge for an "easy sign up" that he pointed out. It was also a high bonus skypesos amount (at least compared to most new sign up/retention offers). It was like 125k for a new card, and he said we could only get that through him in flight, like an as seen on TV ad.

I've heard other airlines do this as SOP with cards, but if I do fly non-DL, it's B6 or WN, so I kind of expect it from them, but I'm not sure if that's every flight or random with the legacy carriers. I primarily fly DL though, and go to ATL weekly now, and don't recall ever hearing a card push like that. Normally we just get accosted in the terminals to sign up.

Is this going to be the new norm for DL? Can any FAs chime in anonymously if this is a corporate push to hit that $10bil mark or just one FA trying to hit a quota or something? I searched the sub and didn't see anything recent being talked about.

Not a big deal obviously, 1st world problem, it just was very odd hearing it on a Delta flight. Curious if anyone else has had this recently or if anyone knows if this is going to be SOP for them too.

Edit: I also seem to be getting a bunch of downvotes, didn't mean to ruffle feathers. This wasn't meant as a dig at Delta either, I'm clearly a loyalist at this point. I was just curious if I've been lucky with not hearing it or if they were implementing it more. Seems like it's either sporadic or flight based, given the responses so far.

Discussion What Platinum choice benefit do you pick?

I think I might hit Platinum for the first time. What's a good pick for the choice benefit? It looks like maybe people in this subreddit go for the 4 regional upgrade certificates. Anyone get anything else?
