VI - Discussion 500 hours in CIV VI and I’ve never purposefully built a military engineer
Am I missing out?
Never really have felt it was key to do so at any stage.

In the new Civ Tour video, the Korean soldiers are fighting against these units. Does anyone know which civilization these units belong to?

Ever since TOT, I’ve been seeing a lot of OP combos for civs be talked about. So i wanted to ask which strong combos you’ve come up with or seen. Here’s a list of some I’ve seen and played.
Pachacuti + Nepal
Ada Lovelace + Mayans
Genghis Khan + Mongolia
Achaemenid Xerxes + Qing Dynasty
Benjamin Franklin + Meiji Japan
Alexander + Sengoku Japan
Catherine + Heian Japan
Napoleon + Prussia
Lafayette + Prussia
Isabella + Iceland
Untested/Needs More Testing:
Blackbeard + Iceland
Amina + United States
Lakshmibai + Silla Korea
Fredrick (Oblique? Baroque?) + Assyria
R5: spamming hillforts in antiquity works wonders with Dai Viet since they count as fortification improvements.
Could have had some really good adjacencies with my wonder layout, but I couldn't bring myself to overbuild those juicy hillfort yields lol. Only sad thing is you're not getting the Serpent Mound with this combo since tropical and grassland rarely (never?) spawn near each other.

I can’t seem to get the hang of the Mali. I play on Immortal level and have won as all but 10 leaders, including Mansa Musa and Sundiata Kieta
The -30% toward units and buildings is a killer, and mines only get 1 production. Their gold bonuses aren’t nearly enough when all the AI is ahead of you because libraries take 40 turns and you have to buy all of your units.
With Portugal, you’re printing money and have no production debuffs.
Do any Mali players have any advice ?

Civ 7 question! I'm working my way through Antiquity in a solo game that I really like right now, but Update 1.4.2 is coming out next week, and I won't have time to finish the game before the release, so I'm considering the best way to do this. (Typically, in the past, I've just started a new game when a new release pops.)
Do you think it would generally be better to cross over to the new release on the last turn of Antiquity or the first turn of Exploration?
I'm initially thinking that it's better to cross over to the new release on the last turn of Antiquity, so that Exploration can be started entirely in 1.4.2.
I know I could save on the last turn of Antiquity, cross over to Exploration, and save right away, then choose between the two after the release. And, come to think of it, I'll probably do that, just so I have the choice! I'm curious to get your opinions on this matter of major importance anyway, though 😄
Details if they matter:
Is the deluxe worth the price now? or should I just get the standard? I've only played civ6 and really liked it. I'm not sure what's the state of this game right now.

For example, you can have double raid cards, boosting your raiding by 100% - (source Boesthius new vid - timestamped) https://youtu.be/92eqz6POT2c?t=2958
Also works with builder charges cards too.
2,600 hours and I learnt something new.

I’m confused on how the victory thresholds work if I start in the Modern Age.

We're coming up on the best time of the month: it's update teaser time! After Update 1.4.1, which introduced Hotseat, the Archipelago map, and a systems rework for Governments and Happiness, we've been fleshing out more systems.
To that end, Update 1.4.2 will launch next week (week of July 27), featuring:
... and of course, improved game stability, several squashed bugs, and other improvements!
Brush and Blade Part 1 explored Japanese history, and Part 2 shifts the spotlight to Korea. Dominate the seas with the scientific and militaristic leader Yi Sun-sin, guide new civs Goryeo and Joseon to glory, go to battle with unique Units like the Hwacha and Turtle Ship, and enjoy new Wonders Buseoka and Hwaseong. If you already bought the collection last month, Part 2 content will be automatically added to your account when the update goes live.
More news, First Looks, and Civ Tours on the way soon. (Like, really soon). Stay tuned!

I'm working on a replacement engine for Civilization 1. This will be a free, open-source project that will require the original DOS Civilization files to run. I intend to add a bunch of (optional) improvements, including visible civilization borders like you see above.
What other improvements to Civilization 1 would you like to see?

Hi all, as the title says I am unable to see all the textures in my Civ VII game. I suspect it has something to do with using Bazzite since the game appears correctly on my Steam Deck. But I would rather use my desktop's specs.
Specs:
I tried:
If anyone here has run into the same issue and knows how to fix it I would appreciate the insight. Also, if there is somewhere else I should post this please let me know.

You need to scroll almost all the way down on the link I posted. Here’s the info:
GORYEO
Out of the fragmentation of Korea’s Three Kingdoms period came Goryeo, a center for scholarship and art, and a formidable force in East Asia. Established in 918 CE, Goryeo became a bastion of Buddhist scholarship, and was an early innovator in moveable type – in other words, the printing press. Additionally, Goryeo celadon pottery is famous for its sophistication and artistry. Goryeo faced challenges, though, keeping peace on the peninsula at first through strength, and then through strategic positioning as a vassal of the Yuan Dynasty of China. Yet in that empire’s fall, a new order arose – Joseon.
JOSEON
As stable as it was isolated, the Joseon Dynasty was a five-centuries-long period of peace in Korea, marked by the elaboration of Confucianism, a strong defense, and a carefully balanced political system. Founded in 1392, the kingdom lasted until just before the dawn of the 20th century, repelling invasion after invasion from its neighbors. It was a highly structured society, with a rich scholarly tradition that carefully monitored outside influences, selecting only that which would make Joseon prosper. It would fall in 1897, after pressure from the ascendant Meiji Empire and the United States became overwhelming.

Has anyone managed to get mods working on any premium subscriptions of GeForce now? When using the fee tier these do load each time in the background when civ is launched but with ultimate no mods will download.

As the title says
Eliminate civ at the end of era or leave them with one city/town?
In previous civ games I would leave them with one city - does it make sense to do that now or benefits to destroying them outweigh negatives in the next era?
Equally does it make sense to grab nearly every city or a) raze some b) trade back the poorer settlements
