Sometimes when playing with friends the game will begin to lag and experience instability as we reach the more modern eras and our armies increase. I understand that this is most likely due to limitations of the mods and Civ5 in general. Curious if anyone has any advice or tips to reduce these issues? I know that as each player completes their turn the stability of the game increases and it is easier to move units across the map, or that zooming in the view also reduces the issues. Curious if anyone has any other niche advice or tricks to improve game stability.

I love NQ mod and LekMod, but think they sometimes and especially the latter moded too much, and i don’t want to install new mods. Mostly because im technologically illiterate and because i have a mac, and dont know how to do it on mac. If someone would want to help me install it, i would be down.

What i really want, is a mod that lets you play any four of the opening policy trees, Tradition, Liberty, Honor, Piety and to have it semi viable. I also would like to be able to go for any tree other than rationalism and not instantly lose the game.

The other problem is even if you buff piety, if your using vanilla religion, it still sucks. I want more powerful beliefs like in NQ mod or Lekmod. I atleast want the Reformation beliefs to be better. They are really bad in vanilla. Something like Apotolic Palace, City of God and others from Lekmod would make the game, and the piety tree actually available.

Ive tried looking up a bunch or balance mods, and some work decent, but none fix all these problems or if they do, they creat new ones.

I just started playing Lekmod with friends, and I don’t understand why we’re always able to stop a war when we get attacked. the AI always accepts peace.

Is there a way to disable this?

We like playing with AI, but it kills the fun when we can always stay safe by forcing the end of a war every time.

I've been working on making a custom modded Civ for the game, my first mod for Civ V, for part of a present for a friend (its based on a fictional character they like). I made the mod using the SDK and ModBuddy, and it works as intended. However, to do this I stripped out all other content (including Lekmod) for debugging stages. When I put Lekmod back in (my friends and I swear by it and haven't played "vanilla" Civ in many years), the modded Civ no longer appears. I'm guessing this is due to how Lekmod works with overriding base game/game folder content as a DLC. Does anyone know if its possible to get an external custom civ to work alongside Lekmod, or if its possible/how to integrate it into a local/custom version of Lekmod? Thanks for any guidance.

When playing multiplayer, sometimes the game does a resync and someone crashes out of it. We can never get the game going again as the turn never ends. The turn timer will stop running and nothing happens.

We also sometimes get a bug where after the resync a city moves to a random place on the map outside of the owner's borders.

Does anyone have any experience in these bugs? What can we do to fix it?

I've had them multiple times when playing the game and it kills our multiplayer games.

Basically, my question is: do I need to recompile the DLL to make changes to this mod?

I need the source code to do that, but I assume the source code from the SDK isn’t compatible. Is it possible to get the source code for NQMod v12?

Or is it possible to make changes without recompiling the DLL?

As it turns out, the override folder contains a huge file with all the changes, but adding new variables requires recompiling the DLL. Thanks for your replies.

Hi, I'm posting here to get a mod's attention. My request was denied because I forgot to put my game details to public. Can a mod please add me in? I'll DM you my steam details.

I thought I would post this because this information does not seem to be easy to find online.

I have found the following procedure works on several machines running several different distros:

1. Install Civ V through steam
2. Right click the game -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and choose a Proton version^\)
3. Follow the instructions to install Lekmod/Lekmap as if you were on Windows, the only exception being that you will need wine to run ui_check.bat
4. Enjoy :)

^\) I know that Proton version 6.3-8 works, I think I found this tip is some comment thread but it's lost to me now. Maybe other versions work as well, YMMV.

So I've started using lekmod and each time i start a game I'm getting a number of errors, mostly along the lines of

unable to load texture [CivSymbolWhite32_DLC_D.dds]

unable to load texture [UnitAction45_DLC_02.dds]

and some related to specific civs, eg [UnitAction45_DLC_Denmark.dds]

One other is "Error Loading Font Texture".

While these aren't always game ending they are annoying, and I've had a few games broken because the error keeps appearing.

Do i need every single bit of DLC available on steam to fill the gaps? I already have BNW and Gods and Kings. Since I can't really afford to be buying every single other DLC is there a workaround?

I've been confused about this before. Is NQ the same as Lekmod? I'd always thought "NQ was what Filthyrobot played, and Lekmod was what people on reddit talked about". In Filthy's discussion of NQ v5, Lek chimes me in a bit.

I'm also aware that NQ had gold on sea tiles via Great Library, and I'd heard people say Lekmod had this. No idea if this was in basegame / G&K before BNW, but river tiles had gold in an earlier version of the game.

Does this mean there are only two substantial mod projects are 1. Lekmod/NQ, 2. Vox Populi?

Hi I have 600 hours on vanilla civ 5 and Im probably the worst player on the platform with the amount of hours I got. I'm wondering what early game paths that are usually good to go for if I don't have a plan in the begining? Is going for libraries better or going for like forge

I play single player, but I think the same would happen in mp, I rpd as Vatican converting cities before conquering them, but the free courthouses never appeared. On a similar and much more disappointing note, the swiss confederation unique building does not work properly, giving 5 base tourism and a +1 with the following text "TXT_KEY_CO_CITY_TOURISM_MOUNTAIN". instead of the 5 tourism per mountain tile within 3 tiles of the city, I worked hard to settle a contested spot with 5 mountains in range, and got 6 tourism instead of 30 :(

This is a question for LEKMOD.

I mostly play with the same friend group online, and I'm hoping to mix things up a bit (Lekmod) with a civ that's a bit oddball in how it wins a particular style, or just a specific kind of chain that is a break from the normal patterns.

Preferably not military strats (unless they're mid game or later), since with our regular play group it feels bad to knock a player out of the game too early.

Things I've tried that I enjoyed:

• vietnam autocracy tourism, where a lot of my tourism was jungle with a large standing army for the autocracy capstone
• piety freedom tourism with planted prophets (vatican)
• autocracy gunboat diplomacy manchuria

Since they removed sacred sites and a few other cheesy win strats I've found the win cons for a peaceful lobby to be less interesting. Is there an oddball science win I'm missing, or maybe some kind of weird culture win?

(x=48,y=38) is what I use for 4 "man" singleplayer.
When I try starting a 2 man singleplayer game, it seems I am not able to make the map smaller than (x=48,y=38), without freezing the game..?
I tried using (40.24) which is the size vanilla pangea duel is, it froze.. Have tried several other sizes too, none seems to work below (48.38).

I am new to Lekmod and Lekmap. My friends and I like to play on a Huge map, we find the extra diplomacy fun even with AIs. On a normal map, I can change the map size in the files, but when using one of the Lekmaps, there is a spot in the game setup where you can choose the map size which overrides any presets in the file. In the vanilla game, the Huge map size is 128x80, but on the Lekmap page it says the recommended map size for huge is 82x74. Furthermore, the largest map size I can creat is 110x76, still noticeably smaller than 128x80. Is there a reason why I can’t generate a normal Huge map size when using one of the Lekmaps? Is there a way to have Lekmap generate bigger map sizes? And why is the recommended Huge map size for Lekmap so much smaller than the vanilla game?
