General Discussion If you could get your black belt from any living instructor, who would it be?
Whether for their reputation, lineage, skill, or just bragging rights, who would you choose if it could be anyone?

In Lachlan’s recent video he posts a sick video of three of his students and there road to winning adcc trials but the title says four, who was the fourth? The thumbnail looks to me like the precision mma guy whose name I can’t remember.

*sorry English isn’t my first language.*
25 year old newish blue belt here with a weird problem. over last year I have noticed more and more I am panicking when on bottom and breathing heavier than normal. I start to imagine suffocating and it’s like my panic brain takes over. I’ll do anything to get out of that position and pretty much give up.
if we start on bottom from beginning I am fine. but once I have picked up breathing it seems to kick in.
i think people in my gym are starting to notice and im very embarrassed. has anyone had this issue and how did you solve it? thank you
edit: thank you all for these amazing replies I just woke up to!! If I don’t respnd directly know that I appreciate greatly. I feel much hope today

I'm thinking to learn the k-guard as far as I see there's some techniques like the shotgun armbar that I like also the concept fo the k guard seems effective not only for bjj but also mma
But as far as I know is a guard that full potential is used for leg locks submissions it would be worth investing on the I guard even if I'm not a leg locker type of fighter? I wanna know how much invest on it

Hey guys
Im moving to San Diego and I was looking for BJJ gyms. There was a couple options I was interested in,
Training Center - Baret Yoshida
Surfight
Victory MMA- Dean Lister
Which one do you guys think is best, and why?
I am looking for a coach who is highly technical.

Has anyone tried or checked out the bteam white belt curriculum? Just from looking at the course map it seems to jump around quite a bit each week to different positions

I dont think I am the only one who got extremely better in no gi by training gi! How many of you guys have the same experience?

Hey Reddit! Tum here but this time injured and with one arm, still making videos though hoping it will help your jiujitsu
Today; the reversed closed guard!
Reverse Closed Guard is one of my favorite positions for connecting modern leg lock entries, K Guard, 50/50 transitions, sweeps, and powerful submissions.

I wonder what are the personal ratios throughout different belts.
On average (lets say in the past several months)
- how often do you tap someone during sparring?
- how often do you get tapped
- how often does the time run out before any subs? (if you're using clock)

I was discussing techniques that "don't work" except when someone figures out how to make them work. I remember a guy who fought MMA back when (late oughts maybe?) who had a brutal head scissors submission that he finished belly down with just his head (or maybe head and a shoulder) touching the mat. He'd squeeze but also actually scissor his leg for the finish. It may have been Pride as I think I remember it being in a ring. Anyone know who I'm talking about and/or have a youtube link for one of those finishe?

So I'm genuinely interested if anyone else finds it insulting that a Gracie online blue belt is running a gym and teaching kids.
Given how hard the rest of us worked to get our belts, and the time spent on the mats.
Plus from the couple of ppl who have defected to our gym, the stuff he's teaching is bad.Like poorly executed fundamental escapes bad, plus they don't actually roll at all. Just taught poor technique..
I just don't want to keep spending money at the ENT. Auricular hematomas suck.
Not posible to get wrestling gear in my country, but plenty of rugby shops here.

I’ve had this gi for about 9 months, but I’ve only trained in it for around 5 months because I was injured for a while.
Here’s what’s driving me crazy is every now and then while I’m rolling, I catch a faint funky smell that I’m almost positive is coming from my gi. But if I stop and smell it afterward (or even before class), it just smells like fresh detergent everywhere. I can’t find the source of the odor no matter where I sniff.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there bacteria hiding in the fabric even though it smells clean, or am I losing it?
What finally got rid of it for you?
For what it’s worth, I just bought a new Hyperfly gi 😊, but I’d still like to save this one if I can.

I know a lot of smaller guys use a movement style game. But I personally have a ton of fun using a more pressure and control styled game. Are there any pros that are lighter with that style?

Hello, my son is entered in his first NoGi tournament with JJWL. We started competing recently (since April) and they've all been with Gi. This being his first NoGi tournament, my son wants to have a little fun with his rashguard and he loves Pokemon, so he wants to incorporate both. I don't see much information regarding rashbuards in the JJWL website. Would this be legal? He's a white belt.

Hey, I have a question for the gym owners/managers. What percentage of your members pay for a membership but do not train? What has helped bring those people back to the gym?
We see that we have a number of people at our gym who continue to pay for a membership, but haven’t trained in roughly a year. We always try to reach out to these people when we can, but don’t really have a strategy for getting them back into the gym. What do you guys do?

I get to see all these photos and videos of people training bjj, and everyone looks so big and jacked?
I know probably all of them were juiced up but I think there would be other factors too
