As you can see, I have tooth decay on my molars, last time I went to the dentist (i think this was around december last year??),, my dentist said this could be due to me being premature, which can lead to my tooth crumbling and stuff, so I'm guessing that has led to this? My dentist said that there's no point in getting fillings as that would make it worse, and that if It causes pain I will have to get them removed in a few years, I also used to purge but I have stopped purging and haven't done it for months, but I wonder if that has contributed to this, I'm just frustrated because I brush my teeth twice daily, my mum isnt taking me to the dentist even though it does kind of hurt now, mainly when im eating and chewing gum, it doesnt reallt sting but it aches,and I don't know what to do anymore, I'm only 14 so it's not like I can do much, any advice? All my other teeth are fine, it's just my molars im worried about

Hi there. I have a very crooked front tooth (pictured), and was considering veneers. I’m getting married soon and would like to have a nice smile for the wedding photos, so figured if not now then when? I have 2 dentists that I see with some regularity as I live/work in two cities and I consulted with them both. They gave me conflicting opinions so I’m looking for some guidance.

Dentist #1 examined the tooth, said the tooth itself and the gums around it are very healthy, and therefore advised me against doing veneers or anything cosmetic. She suggested Invisalign, even though it’s a long term solution and won’t fix the cosmetic issue before my wedding. I need a few cleanings and some small restorations for before I start the Invisalign process, but that is what she advised I do, and discouraged me against veneers.

Dentist #2 examined the tooth. and said Invisalign would not fix the rotation of this tooth. She said it‘s too rotated, at a very awkward angle, and she doesn’t see Invisalign fixing this issue. As such, she suggested veneers as a long-term cosmetic solution and seemed very excited to start the process with me.

I’m looking for guidance from dentists, as well as anybody else on this thread who has done veneers, to share their experiences. What are the upsides? What are the downsides? I do ultimately want a much straighter smile. However, if Invisalign can achieve that without me having to shave down natural healthy teeth, that’s definitely the way that I would do it. Why does my sister who always eats more candy and chips and soda rarely brushes her teeth don’t have a cavity but when I brush my teeth everyday and don’t mostly eat candy and chips and only drink water and milk always have a cavity?

So i got a root canal back in early September, and my mom was supposed to go back to get me permanent crowns and I've constantly reminded her yet we still haven't gone.

After like 4 months I noticed the back parts broke and their were 2 holes in my back teeth.

Yesterday I was using a tooth pick and coughed out the filling I think, and I think I pulled out the cotton.

What do yall think I really want to go to the dentist but my mom says I'll schedule it, and then she says they're being complicated when she calls.

i had a molar extracted yesterday (almost 24 hours ago) and i’m sooo worried about dry socket. i’ve been super careful with it but i don’t really see a blood clot, unless i’m not looking for the right thing. i don’t see any bone i don’t think (aside from my wisdom tooth that you can see i need to get removed)

does this look normal for post op? the only real pain i have is believe is from where they gave the injections, but i’m super paranoid because when i called and asked them they described how it should look, and when i explained that’s not how it looked they just said “oh it’s fine!”

i’ve seen a lot of pictures of peoples molar extraction sites and they always look filled in some way, so i’m a little anxious about how mine just looks hollow? any advice would mean a lot to me! 🥹

I’m 28, and a few years ago I went to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to take a look at my bite. He told me I’d have to go through a 2-year orthodontic treatment followed by jaw surgery.
I only had one brief appointment and decided not to move forward with X-rays. Honestly, I felt completely overwhelmed by how long the treatment would take and the prospect of surgery.
A huge part of my hesitation comes from my dad's experience, since he underwent jaw surgery for mandibular prognathism, and the whole process was horrible. His first surgery went wrong, so he had to undergo a second one. The recovery was intense, and to this day, he complains about permanent numbness in his lower jaw.
Because of that, I'm very hesitant.
I’m not sure if I also have mandibular prognathism, or if my specific issue might be easier to solve without surgery (maybe just with Invisalign?).
I have an appointment with an orthodontist coming up soon, but I’d love to get some preliminary opinions from the dentists and orthodontists on this sub.
What do you think? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Recently I have noticed a pulse in the tooth when my heart rate goes up and some minor pain.

The tooth is very sensitive to cold.

I am concerned that something is happening as I’m going away next week.

History of the issue: My new dentist is saying I have an open margin on this tooth and that the crown was poorly done. They want me to re-do the crown with them to fix the issue. However, my previous dentist (who performed the crown) is saying there isn't an open margin and they feel they performed appropriate work. Therefore my insurance isn't going to pay for the crown to be redone.

In your opinion, is this crown ok to keep, or is there an opening where stuff can get inside, leading to potential issues? For reference, nothing hurts, I'm not in pain. Just really confused because one office says yes it's definitely an open margin. The other office says no, it's definitely NOT an open margin.

I had a root canal on a lower molar about 20 years ago that had been completely symptom-free ever since.
A few days ago, my dentist noticed some radiolunacy at the root tip on a routine X-ray. There was no pain, swelling, or other symptoms, but they decided to start retreatment. They removed the old root filling, cleaned the canals, placed an intracanal medicament (I assume calcium hydroxide, but I’m not sure), and sealed it with a temporary filling.

Since then, I’ve developed severe pain. It started as tenderness to biting but progressed over 3 days to a constant dull, pressure-like ache.

Impossible to sleep or work without ibuprofen. Ibuprofen relieves the pain, but it returns with vengeance once it wears off.

No facial swelling and no fever for now. I’ve attached the post-operative X-ray - does this show some type of crack!?

My other questions:

Does this sound like a typical endodontic flare-up after retreatment, or is this level of pain concerning?

In how many cases of retreatment does this happen?

At what point would you consider reopening the tooth, changing the intracanal medication, or referring to an endodontist? The weekend is coming up and dentist office will close.

I’m 34F and I haven’t been to the dentist in 10 years. Yes, I do have an appointment set up for next month - finally buckled down and found a policy (I’ve never had it offered through my job) and set the appointment. I’ve never had cavities or anything and I have all 4 wisdom teeth. Nothing like pain or sensitivity has prompted me to do this, but my jaw clenching and my teeth shifting a bit more over the years has made me want to see the orthodontist again (I had braces at 13, broke the retainer a year later and my dad wouldn’t replace it).

Anyway I’ve been working on flossing a lot better and as you can imagine, flossing my molars back to my wisdom teeth has always been harder. I’ve had a little bleeding when I floss those molars however I think part of the problem is a lot of my teeth sit very tight together, so I try to be careful but sometimes I end up catching my gum from having to work the floss between my teeth. I’m not sure if it’s concerning that once I get it past the right areas it’s really easy to maneuver, maybe I have some gum recession?

Just looking for feedback on how my gums are looking because I’m never really clear on what gingivitis is supposed to look like. I’ve noticed that between my wisdom and my last molar there isn’t much space, like the floss only goes about half as far down as the rest of my teeth. I just took these photos after getting a coffee for the first time in weeks and breakfast so excuse that part.

My mom tripped over her flipflop and fell face flat on the road while taking out the dog. She fell face flat and has broken her two front teeth. The right front tooth is broken but the broken piece is still in her mouth. The left front tooth is also broken diagonally. We are not able to find the broken part. Her two front teeth are still in the mouth and are not wobbling.

Would this require an extraction?

I got a cracked tooth filled end of April. It seemed like NBD. The dentist was going to have me wait 3 weeks to fill it, and never mentioned a crown or otherwise. Just told me to reach back out if it got sensitive to hot/cold.

So I waited. Now 3 months later, it's still sensitive/slightly painful to chew on. I wouldn't say that it's improved at all. So I made another appointment, and I'm anticipating a crown (my first one and I'm emotionally unwell).

But should I start looking for other dentists just to confirm that that's the best route?

hello I have a question. i took my braces off like 2 years ago and now I have adjustable braces for night before I will get permanent braces for night. the first picture is my teeth from few months ago and the second is now. Do you guys think that my 2 front teeth are moving? (One to the front or back) and do you think that my dentist will still give me the permanent see through braces for night even tho my 2 front teeth look like that? what are your opinions?

Hello,I did get checked by a physician and doctor (Doctor was virtual) who told me this is just a canker sore but my health anxiety is through the roof and i also want others opinions on this,I’ve had this bump for roughly 4-5 days and it creates discomfort and on and off pain

Chip pictured. Basically the other day I was eating and a small piece of my molar fell out. I thought it was an old cavity filling but my dentist said it’s actually a chip in my molar. It’s causing me sensitivity and pain, but my dentist (who is doing my Invisalign) wants to wait until after my Invisalign treatment is over to fix it because “there’s going to be more movement.” She said the chip is shallow and the X-rays showed it’s far from the root.

My concern is the pain. She told me if it really starts hurting a lot to come back and she’ll fix it. I said I’d wait it out, but I’m going out of the country soon and thinking it might be better to get it fixed already because I’m going to be gone for a month and don’t know what I will do if the pain gets worse during my trip. It has already increased in pain over the last few days. Sensodyne isn’t helping. It used to be just sensitive when i brushed it, now i can feel it even when im not doing anything.

Should I ask to get it filled already? Or is it really not that big of a deal?

Hi, its a little awkward letting people on the internet up close and personal in my mouth lol. But my top row wisdom teeth have been coming in the last several months. They will cause some pain, grow a bit, then stop and then start again.

This past week the left side of my mouth on the top row has been causing me some pain, even making my throat hurt a little.

When i looked, there was this sore behind where my wisdom tooth is growing. Is this normal?? Is it part of my wisdom tooth coming in?? Or is it a completely separate issue?

Update from my last post, the doctor diagnosed “Cryptic Both Tonsils” he gave me a mouth wash to gargle with warm water, today is been 3 days gargling thrice a day and I feel like this its not improved much, I tried the qtip method but failed because of gag reflex. What should I do to get me removed in the fastest way possible? Also can dentist remove them using their tools or oral irrigator?

In your opinion, is there an open margin on this (tooth 14) and would you recommend this crown get re-done? Basically, is there an issue with this current crown that could lead to larger problems?

I just got my permanent front crowns. I feel like they stick out too far or look a little bulky from the front or something is just not right
Am I just adjusting to them, or do they look wrong? I feel like they should be flatter. If you were my dentist, would you recommend flattening the front surface slightly, or do they look normal?
