I am about to be unemployed in 1 month but I am proud of myself. Am I crazy?
29F. I am a PhD student turned social studies teacher. Finding a social studies job has been near impossible after 3 years. Not many openings, taking crappy sub gigs, or teaching something completely different. After getting rejected by the school I've been working at for years now, I give up.
I have a wonderful spouse who can help support me, I have 6 months worth of savings, and I could always sub again.
But for now I want a different type of job. A state job particularly. I just need something outside of education.
My spouse and parents are so supportive. But of course some call me crazy. I've never done this before.
I am proud of myself though. I was in a toxic work environment and every day I had to fight off panic attacks or disassociation in order to just get to work. I hated it so much.
I'm finishing up teaching summer school in a few weeks so ill have pay through early September. I've already applied to other jobs and I had an interview last week. So here's hoping.
I didn't know where to post this but I'm so proud to break free.
