I dont know if this idea has been posted before but I kept thinking about it while playing. I attached a short video to kinda show what I mean.
Right now like 90% of our matches are basically capture the base. Doesn't matter if its domination or standard, they all end up feeling pretty similar after thousands of games.
My idea is a completely different mode based on territory control
Instead of the minimap being around 100 large squares, imagine the exact same map size but divided into something like 1,000-2,000 much smaller tiles
Whenever a blue team ship sails through neutral territory, those tiles become blue. Red team does the same on their side. The match UI would constantly show something like:
Blue: 24% map control
Red: 31% map control
If blue reaches something like 70% control they instantly win. Or of course by wiping out the enemy team like normal.
The interesting part is what this would do to gameplay.
DDs suddenly have an actual reason to keep moving around the map instead of sitting in smoke forever.
Cruisers hiding behind the same island for 12 minutes would eventually have to move if they want their team to keep up in map control.
BBs spending the whole match reversing on the J line farming damage would actually have to leave their comfort zone.
Teams couldn't just abandon an entire flank because giving away huge chunks of territory would actually matter.
I think matches would become way more dynamic. More pushes, more flanking, more fights breaking out all over the map instead of everyone staring at the same island for 10 minutes waiting for somebody else to make the first move.
It would also reward map awareness instead of just raw damage farming. Sometimes the right play isn't another 15k salvo, its taking control of another section of the battlefield.
Maybe 70% is too much. Maybe 60% would work better. Maybe the percentages need balancing. Thats all adjustable.
I just think WoWS Legends could really use one mode that encourages movement instead of camping.
Would you actually play something like this or would it end up being a complete mess? I'm honestly curious what you guys think.
