Whoever was blasting Whiskey Lullaby as loud as possible over the sacred springs where my husband chose to spend his first day off in 3 weeks

Fuck you, I hope you sweat the bed every night, your entitlement and lack of self awareness makes everyone you ever interact with fucking sick, I bet you never get invited anywhere because why would anyone do that to themselves, what you did to everyone else there was a hate crime, you're lucky my husband is nicer than me, the next time I unwillingly am subjected to listening about who put a bottle to their head and pulled the trigger on someone's unattended canned ass loud ass bullshit speaker while we're all trying to relax and unwind and have a nice time with KIDS around it's going in the trash, buy some fucking airpods

This is my third and final attempt to post this, I need to externalize how absolutely trash it is to bring down the entire mood of a natural sanctuary people hauled their asses out of bed before dawn to appreciate just to have the experience tainted by unwanted exposure to Alison Krauss

Be better bye

I came out as a teenager and I regret it now that I'm older

I was one of those people who knew she was gay from literally elementary school. My first crushes were never on boys, only girls. I came out as a teenager and I really regret that now that I'm an adult.

Coming out really sucked and made my parents cry. Since then, they've casually outed me to a bunch of people because they don't understand how personal it is. Many people treat me differently now that they know. Now that I'm working in education, I worry that a parent will eventually hear about it and have issue with it. It ended up not mattering because I never ended up finding someone anyway. So I basically created these problems for myself for no reason.

I spent some time living abroad and never told a soul there. I basically got an opportunity to have an experiment of what my life would have been like if I never came out. It was so much easier. I never worried about parents of students finding out because nobody in the whole country knew or had contacts to anyone I knew in my home country. I never had friends suspicious that I was "secretly into them." I wasn't paranoid that someone would think I'm a creep when I needed to use a changing room.

And now that I'm moving back to my home country, I really wish I had set up this same life for myself by never coming out. It's just so much easier.

Dear website developers.

I never… **NEVER EVER** did subscribe to a newsletter due to a pop-up asking for my email in the middle of the screen when I’m trying to read an article.

Are you high? Who came up with this? If anything it makes me hate the company behind the website.

My girlfriend nearly ruined an event

My girlfriend and I both early 30s had planned to attend an event a few hours away. For context this event is something we have to purchase tickets to attend. It’s definitely more her cup of tea than mine but I’m more than happy to attend, but considering the fact that this was a 4 hour drive away I want it to go smoothly. As this was something she’s attended before, and was the one who suggested we go she was in charge of getting our tickets and making the arrangements. 2 days before the event she tells me she’s purchased 1 adult ticket and 1 kid ticket in the name of saving money. I’m beside myself, I understand wanting to save money especially in this economy, but she didn’t consult me on this she just did it. Yes we both look young, but not that young. For two days I stressed about if we (I drove the entire way) would drive the 4 hours to get there only to be denied entry. I said if it was about the money I would have just given you the money for the ticket, but you just bought the tickets without asking me or thinking about the consequences. I feel like a jerk for being upset about this still because we did manage to get in the event no problem, but I just can’t shake it. I would have much rather paid for the peace of mind.

Need to talk... I really hate Linkedin

Seriously, Linkedin really does suck.

I've been looking for a job for a year and a half on holy crap its a mess.

1.) Half of the jobs are scams. You'll find the right one that you actually qualify for, to then go to Glassdoor. To only see that the company doesn't freaking exist.

2.) 2-3 years of equivelant experience is not entry-level. For some reason this is now a trend. First it is was just 2-3 years experience, in general. But now, its equivelant experience. You just want a normal job role to be filled for entry-level pay

3.) Some of the jobs you need a freaking degree for that doesn't need a actual degree. I'm looking for remote entry-level jobs because they fit my needs and you have no idea how many jobs i have read that have required a associate's or bachelor's degree for entry-level job like receptionist or data entry

4.) Can you stop saying preferred. We all know those qualifications are mandatory. You might say preferred, but we all know that you will hire the person who meets that requirement first

5.) It has a lot of corporate bs on the site. Its like facebook but for corporate bs. A site where you can post meaningless posts and pictures to remind people "we are like a family" when steve has worked at your place for 15 years but has only recieved a cake from walmart and no raise.

Also nobody is a family at your work. Stop saying stupid stuff like this. If we are like a family, we are the worst family of all time.

Seriously. Linkedin is crap, but we are all forced there to look for jobs if you aren't looking for a minimum wage job.

Happy/Positive Vent Getting a girlfriend change me in a lot of ways I didn’t know I could.

ok weird vent here, when I use the word change I don’t mean fully in a bad way. I used to be very confirmative and bleh never really dressed how I wanted or acted how I did. but ever since I’ve got a girlfriend I just don’t give a shit what people think of me I dress how I want to and act how I please, when I say act how I want I mean in not being one of the nonchalant dudes all the time.

I’ve also noticed that I’ve became more extroverted too I don’t know how. I find at work (I work with kids) I can be way more fun and active and I don’t feel like people will view me differently for how I act while working. Plus having a girlfriend has giving me Somone to talk to about feeling depressed as she did have it. But she has gotten much better. I’ve also started my to pick up new hobbies like learning embroidery. and Just having a girlfriend makes me feel so much fuller. I feel like I have a reason to get wake up and not bed rot all day.

but I’m really happy that I found a girlfriend because I was going through it right before I found her. I was probably pretty depressed but I never got tested and yeah. she’s also part of the reason I made honour roll too soo yeah.

i don’t really know if this qualifies as a vent but I just really wanted to talk about how great my life has gotten and I hope you really enjoyed my great big vent:)

I’m sorry for suck a big ass vent Ive had so much and no one to talk to about it.

TW: Medical “I found out I was pregnant-“ “Congrats!!” “But I think I miscarried.”

I went to see my PCP to get my HCG checked to make sure everything looks right. From my description and the fact that I had an internal ultrasound that didn’t show anything, I’ve had two people tell me it sounds like I miscarried. Since I was going to terminate and I had went to an abortion clinic, the ultrasound tech couldn’t confirm it was a miscarriage. She could confirm that she didn’t see anything there though.

Anyway, two nurses brought me back to the exam room to take vitals and get an idea of why I was there and getting my HCG checked. There was a mixup with scheduling because I misunderstood when I needed to get it checked again, so we cleared that up.

While I’m explaining, I say, “Well, I found out I was pregnant.” And one of them women congratulated me, and I felt so bad for having to finish my sentence. “But I think I miscarried a couple days ago.”

Her face dropped and I wanted so badly to say, “It’s okay, I was terminating anyway.” That sounds a little harsh and heartless. She had a serious expression the entire time after that. I felt bad for her and I can’t imagine how bad she might feel. I hope she knew that the clinic I mentioned was an abortion clinic. It was just… super awkward for the both of us.

And like, yes, I was going to terminate anyway. But I wanted circumstances to be different. I wanted it to happen at home and in private. Not in a Marshalls’s parking lot and bathroom where I can hear a family arguing in the stall over. Where I can hear small children bickering between each other. All of it happening the way it did was a total mindfuck.

But I don’t feel like I have the right to be upset about any of it. People who actually want to be pregnant and have a baby have miscarriages, and they’re allowed to be sad. Not the person who miscarried the day before their termination. I barely even remember it happening. I remember the before, and the walk to the bathroom, and not feeling the sharp waves of cramps anymore, and the children and family bickering, and leaving the bathroom, and the after. I don’t remember seeing it though. I know I did, but I can’t remember it.

I think I’m starting to make a hard turn on my opinion on the internet

Tech is miraculous but it’s been put in the absolute worst hands

Like I met someone from Brazil online, I’m from New England. We met in Ireland when she was studying English. Then I visited her in Rio De Janeiro, and it was always a dream of mine to go there. Best experience of my life 😌 it’s just crazy to me that the internet opens up the entire world, and maybe I was idealistic when I was choosing my career, but I thought that was world changing

… Then someone had to just come along and be like “yeah but how can we juice this for as much money as we can get”? The whole internet feels vaguely like an office building of a failing business now. Has this weird corporate “professional” feeling, everyone feels like a pantomime imitation of an influencer, no one is doing shit just cause they want to but because they feel obliged to. People treat the algorithm as a god

I hate the inauthenticity of online content. People are just trying to figure out what makes them money and gets views, it’s almost never what they actually want to make. People looking at all these dumb metrics and gaming the algorithms. Then I have a hard time taking any popular figure online seriously; like how do I know you didn’t just buy your views? Ugh. Maybe there’s someone I’d rather be watching

Everything is so surface level, lowest common denominator online now. Like I go to watch movie reviews and 50% of them are like… STRAIGHT trash. “Marty supreme was a bad movie because I didn’t think Marty was a good guy, aren’t I supposed to root for the main character? 2/10”, brother we were reading about characters like this since 8th grade, have you been zoned out since then? Oh my god. Oh and don’t even touch obsession reviews unless you wanna lose faith in people (if you do, check out Alex Meyers review lmao, I’m still not convinced it’s not just ragebait)

And man at this point it’s pissing me off how much it’s been changing things I like. People started doing things irl for clout and views. Like I used to really like cosplay. It was always meant to be a fun little hobby that you take just as seriously as you want. Now I see people cosplaying who don’t like anime, or when I go online there’s waaay too much sexy cosplays filled with gooners in the comment section (sexy cosplay isn’t directly the problem, it’s posting sexy cosplays for views and likes that’s the problem just to be clear)

It’s also taken the fun out of traveling, too. It actually used to require talking to locals to find new cool places in the city. Now you go anywhere and it’s completely full of tourists. I even see it in my own city. There’s one Italian restaurant which is unusually popular with people from Korea. Always a line out the door. Found out that some social media influencer posted about this restaurant in Korea and now everyone who visits the city goes there. I used to go there for lunch. Now I can never get in

I heard a story that there was a small chinese town where a farmer would make very authentic chicken soup. Someone posted it on social media and apparently he got so inundated with social media influencer types, that he decided to shut down the entire business. He said it sort of ruined his dream, he was happy before

Maybe at this point, it’s time to shut down the internet for a while 😕 we messed it up bad

My partner severely injured himself, but won't advocate for himself at the ER

We spent last night at the ER. We're in Canada, so thankfully we have universal health care.

About 4 weeks ago, he suffered a complete avulsion of proximal hamstring tendons and 2 out of 3 hamstring muscles. Just over 2 weeks later, surgery. He was recovering fine, but unfortunately slipped and fell yesterday during the day.

I drove him to the ER, but during triage and speaking to any nurse, he downplayed his pain/injury. I spoke to the nurses about how he's in excruciating pain, that he needed a bed as he shouldn't be sitting on his staples... but he never complained. Not once.

I had to leave at 6am to let our dog out and feed our pets. Before leaving, I told him he needed to advocate for himself because I wouldn't be there to do it for him. He promised he would.

Later, when he was home, he told me about the conversation with the ER doctor. She spoke to his surgeon and suggested he didn't need an MRI as "the patient appears fine".

I'm livid. He's not fine. His surgery likely failed and his muscles and tendons are detached again. He's in excruciating pain. But he prefers to act stoic like he's not in insufferable pain.

He said the doctor should know that he's not OK and that he went to the ER for a reason... when he's behaving as though nothing is wrong and there are so many other patients waiting to be seen.

I'm just tired that in the 2 hours I left him at the hospital to care for our pets, he's delayed his recovery for a time sensitive injury (less likely to properly heal) because he thinks the doctor should just "know".

The only reason he had any pain meds, was given a room with a bed, or even was seen when he was, was because I complained to all the nurses about his condition.

WHY can't he stop being so stubborn/idiotic when it comes to his health and something that is genuinely so serious. I'm tired of being the only person who is fighting for him to get better.

"Ohhh but I dont want to get in trouble 🥺"

You're like 30 years older than me, take accountability!!! AHHHHHH. I hate it here.

Happy/Positive Vent I’ve lost enough weight where I’m finally happy with my appearance :)

Upvotes

I've been trying to lose weight no joke for 3 years. I started off over 200 pounds I'm 5 foot even. It took me a while to lose weight because I'm
neurodivergent and I have a hard time locking in, l've slowly lost weight over the years. I was put on a new medication for another thing that curves my appetite and it's making me lose weight quicker. Today I weighed in at 144 and this is the first time I've felt good about my body image. I still want to lose more but I don't feel "fat" anymore. I don’t fear being judged in public because of my weight anymore. I'm on a medication for my ADHD which helps curve my appetite plus the weight less meds I'm already on I'm the most confident in losing weight than I've ever been before in my life and I'm so happy right now.
Before I started weight loss I wore a women's XL size shirt and now I can fit into a small. (It's a little tight but I can wear it all day and be comfortable.)

A letter to my hard headed ass husband

First, I would like to start off by saying I love you. I really, really, do. And this is gonna sound way to fucking familiar, but that's exactly why this is frustrating.

Last weekends date was a disaster, but honestly you were the worst part of that day. I did everything I could to make it a good day and you just hated it, and you made sure I knew that you hated it. That part hurt, but now it's just stupid and frustrating to think about.

Namely because you actually need to take care of yourself, and part of that day was me just trying to make sure you're taken care of. You need shoes and clothes, and I know you bought them and it didn't go how you hoped, but I don't regret pushing for it. Hell, I bought your shoes you just won't take the damn money. You need clothes that actually fit you, and you deserve new shirts without holes or random stains baked into them. You need shoes that aren't just crocs or vans that hurt your feet. I wanted you to feel nice and confident, and like I was listening. We went to the place you've been dying to go to for 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 and I'm sorry it wasn't what you thought it was, but that wasn't my fault.

And, in case you forgot, you're the one that still wanted to go shopping. I had already said it wasn't in the plans anymore. You knew why we were going to the store, you even picked the store yourself.

Honestly, sometimes you act like an outright child. Especially when it's a situation where you need something and refuse to get it/it doesn't go your way, and when I need a second to just chill. I don't have the stamina that you do. It's really starting to come off as ungrateful.

So yeah, I'm gonna nag you about going to the doctor and taking care of your damn health. I'm gonna make you get new clothes, and keep up with your hair. Because I love you, and obviously you won't manage this shit on your own. Instead you'll sit there for months, or years at this point, complaining and stating how much you need shit or don't have it. Either you fix it, or I do.

And for the love of everything we've done to get here, please try to show some appreciation when I try. Because I really did and your behavior during and afterwards was hurtful.

I'm 28 finally left my 10 year abusive relationship in may and my life has never been worse

The man was physically and verbally abusive and controlling, I wasn't allowed to have friends, he sold my car years ago so only he could control where I went and when with his car and him driving, he controlled the money despite the last two years being me who worked 3 jobs and took out my 401ks and savings to pay our bills while he sat at home doing nothing and so much more I could go into, yet somehow my life with him seemed 10x better than it is right now. I had to move home which is embarrassing enough, I haven't been able to get a job despite multiple years in administration and project management because the remote work market is so saturated and I have no car or money to get a car because again no job, I'm barely getting interviews and the ones I have gotten didnt end in a job offer, I have very little network and no one in it had any job opportunities they knew of, I have -$1753 to my name, credit cards going into collections and I see no end to this awful struggle in sight. I should've stayed, maybe if I beg he'll take me back, at least I had steady income, a place to live that wasn't my parents and somewhat of an independent life, anything and I do mean anything seems better than this embarrassing endless struggle at my grown age where everyone I see my age and even younger are affording expensive things and supporting themselves

I know you don’t want to accept it and that’s not what it was in your eyes, but you did. Then got mad at me for not handling it well. I can’t believe I wanted you back. If you ever end up in my messages trying to reconcile things just know I will never love you again.

Need Reassurance... My favourite person in the world turned out to be a horrible person

Literally my entire life whenever I was asked who my favourite person was I would say my grandma and she was genuinely the person I loved the most in the entire world. She helped raise me too so I had a special connection with her. I won’t go into details over what happened because of privacy reasons but she definitely has undiagnosed narcissistic personality disorder (not throwing that term around carelessly I’m serious), and has done and said really terrible things. When I first found out about a huge conflict happening in my family I honestly felt really bad for my grandma and she started crying in front of my and all I could see was a scared child hoping that I would still love her, but I can’t see her the same ever again. It’s been months since the initial event started and slowly everyone around me including the rest of my family completely hates her, and honestly I just feel really disappointed. I sometimes feel like a bad person because everyone is super enthusiastic about saying bad things about her but I always just get quiet even though the stuff she’s done is horrendous. I don’t know if I love her anymore and that really hurts me because for the longest time she was the most important person to me. Even in my childhood she would body shame me and criticize me all the time but I still loved her despite that and I guess that all should have been a warning sign of what was to come. Now every interaction is so awkward and she just starts randomly crying and before I used to feel sad and start crying too but now I’ve just become more desensitized to it because she uses it as a manipulation tactic. I just feel really sad that all my respect and love towards her has warped into pure disappointment and grief.

Not looking for input Dumbass former employer accidentally sent me an extra paycheck after laying me off, and I have to return it 😡

My former employer laid me off about a month ago after 11 years because incompetent management spent too much money and now they can't pay me. This morning I logged into my bank account to find that they accidentally sent me an extra paycheck.

BEFORE ANYONE SAYS "JUST KEEP IT": I can't legally keep the money. Of course the US has laws in place that protect the employer and allows them to sue to recover the accidental payment, even though it's their stupid ass fault.

I had been looking for another job for a year before they laid me off and it's been like 2-3 months since I even had an interview. For them to accidentally send me money that I can't keep is like dangling a sandwich in front of a homeless man. I never wanted to see or talk to any of them again, but I can't even have that dignity because I had to call them and let them know what happened. Hopefully they can get the money back without me having to go give it to them in person.

In a just world, I should have been allowed to keep the money. They should just have to eat it since it was their mistake, and someone should have lost their job for accidentally paying me extra.

Fucking fat cat shitheads. Get your fucking act together. FUCK YOU!!

I just want a job.

It’s been four years. Not even fucking Walmart or McDonald’s will take me. I’ve slowly stopped applying to jobs because it feels completely pointless. I don’t understand what it is about me that makes me so unemployable. I know I’m an unlikable person so I at least get why I might not succeed at interviews, but I barely even fucking get interviews. And half the time when a job says they want to interview me they just ghost me and never schedule one. I’m sick of being a massive burden on my family by still living at home. I’m the oldest of six and the only other sibling that doesn’t have a job is too young to work. They must all think I’m a massive embarrassment. And they should, because I am. What kind of freak can’t even get a job at a fast food restaurant?

Need to talk... Was happy to have new friends until I realized they were racist.

Im genuinely pissed off right now badly. I dont even know what I expected but I made two online friends over a videogame and they are genuinely nice people around a week ago. Tonight we were just playing games like usual and one of the two guys decides to add his friend in whos literal name in the game is the r slur, and he calls him by that. Im like wtf.. and hes like ahh hes ok with being called that. this friend he added also proceeds to act out being the r slur. then they see landmines in the game and proceed to say allahu akbar... and say stuff like oh when you bomb it dont forget to say that! like not funny at all?? (Theyre all just white btw) Then later we switch to another game and as soon as I join up I hear him say "n word". Thats honestly when I flipped out because they had already been disrespectful with the slurs but now its blatant racism and I told him I was black and only then he was like "oh shoot your black?? sorry..." Ok even if i wasnt black still dont say that stuff???!!!

honestly should have noticed a red flag in the beginning when we were first playing the game we met on he mentioned something about the kkk... as a joke as someones nickname. mind you i had told him i was black and mixed. and he is literally just white from america. and then when we had made a group chat with the other guy he named it the r slur which i yelled at him to change so yeah there were some red flags. but he was a very nice person in general and was nice to his friends and even gifted us games telling us how much he appreciated us especially since his gf and him broke up and we were there for him and now shes in the hospital or whatever. but like genuinely im reconsidering being friends with him at all because of the stuff he says like its just him and the friend he added. the other original friend is completely fine and its crazy because the only one who isnt racist or says those things is the younger guy. both of the racists are full grown aduts?! like we are 18 act your age. this is not funny.

i hope i didnt seem like a pushover cause i dont think my tone was harsh enough when i crashed out and told him to stop but like i literally left the call. i genuinely might cut him off. its so stupid cause its been a week and tbh ive never had online friends or anything so i kinda didnt know what to expect. but of course hes just gotta be racist. Km just mad like why do they think the shit they say is okay?!?!? Like just be a damn nice person were adults. its wild how the younger kid is more mature than you. absolutely embarrassing.

my boyfriend wants kids and i dont

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 6 years now and the only reason we are still dating is because of this big looming incompatibility.

For background, we met when we were 18 and 19. I was always adamant about not having kids and he seemed to agree. In reality, I think we were so young and blinded by love that he thought not having kids because i didnt want them was okay. Teenagers are dumb haha

Anyway, now were are in our mid twenties, established, and ready to take next steps towards marriage and moving in together and such. However, we are stuck. Stuck not knowing what to do because this isnt something that can be compromised on.

Today we spoke about it and cried. We arent angry at each other but just so sad about it. We know this cant work and we both want to spend the rest of our lives together so we just cry.

It’s heartbreaking to think that we could be so perfect together yet not be able to be together.

Edit: Im not sure why so many people are downvoting this. I understand we are not compatible and there is no solution. We are just fighting the inevitable and its very upsetting to have to let go of the person u want to spend your life with

My life is drowning in ads and I'm sick of it

ADS ARE SO OVERWHELMING IT'S DRIVING ME UP THE WALL

I feel like I can't do anything online or even in person rn without at least getting a glimpse of an ad of some kind.
I'm certainly on my device too much, that much I can admit, and l've gone over budget this month with frivolous spending online, it's like my phone knows that and spits even more ads at me in an attempt to shove more purchases down my throat, while the gettin's good.

The way I see it, l've got three options:

1. My willpower to resist is obviously in the ditch, so I need to prioritize rebuilding that (I've started seeing a therapist as well..)

2. Wipe my phone and entire identity online (as much as one can these days), start fresh.

3. Become Amish.

✌️
