has anyone received their session 2 grant/fin aid yet? i haven’t gotten any notifications or anything that implies that I’m getting aid even though the website says disbursement was on the 20th 🫩🫩🫩

I am an undergraduate student at Boston University (Advisor: Dr. Jessica Simes, Sociology) studying how students interact with and perceive campus police, including direct and indirect experiences, and how police are perceived in the maintenance of campus space. I am looking for students aged 18+ who attend a California college or university in-person, including UCSC, to participate in a one time interview about their perceptions and experiences.

I just received an email that I wouldn’t be getting an enrollment appointment because supposedly I haven’t done something from the orientation course, HOWEVER, I’ve done everything. I checked multiple times and everything was turned in, so now I’m wondering if it was an error? Or should I be stressed out 😭

The outlier in this schedule is PHYS116A. I am taking the class very early because I already took Multivariable calculus in high school (clearing both 23A and 23B). I would rather get a head start on an upper division course ASAP so I don't forget the multivariable material (and so I can stay ahead of the new students who maxed out at AP Calc BC).

I am trying to give myself one day of the week off, and the only possible days to give myself off are Thursdays.

I am not taking any Gen Ed courses in my first term because most requirements have already been cleared and I am in two GE courses in summer edge online (one in session 1, and another in session 2).

Do you guys recommend math 11A or Math 16A?, My sister also informed me about an alternative, That i can just fulfill my Math requirement At a CC over the summer , But i don’t know what i should do, I’m a microbiology Major. I’m planning to not start off with math and replacing it with STATS 5. (Also any recommendations for the stats 5 professors would be helpful)

Hi! I was looking through my emails and I got one that said I don’t have an enrollment date because I didn’t complete required things (assignments 1-4, the We Are Slugs program, UC SHAPE, and the Hazing Awareness and Prevention) even though I fully completed all of them. It literally says on my canvas even if I reload that I completed everything fully. I am so confused because it was also said in the orientation course that we would get our enrollment date after the 28th. Should I be worried? I emailed the orientation team so idk what to do from here :(

Former student from Ireland. Bringing my wife and daughter to California early August. I would love to bring them up to campus and show them around. An aspirational trip for my daughter who just finished secondary school here in Dublin.

Will I be allowed to rock on up and get onto campus (driving) park by the bookstore and walk around campus for a bit? Do you think I'd have to make prior arrangements? Would be either Monday August 3rd or the Tuesday following.

Posting this to raise awareness for incoming students who will be living in Oaks College and to ask for advice on what else I can do.

For some context, I'm a UCSC student working on campus over the summer. On Friday, July 17, I was working in the Oaks Apartments when I was eaten alive by fleas. It started with a tickling around my waist/belt line, when I looked down I realized my legs and belt area were covered in fleas. I ended up removing more than 30 fleas from my body and then immediately leaving the building.

Since then, I've counted well over 100 flea bites. From my ankles and legs, but mostly on my torso, back, and shoulders. I was only inside the building for less than two hours before I noticed what was happening.

My biggest concern is for students who will be moving into Oaks in August. I plan to contact UCSC Physical Plant and Oaks College to report the issue and make sure they're aware of the severity of it. But does anyone have suggestions on what else I should do? Has anyone else experienced flea problems in Oaks Apartments or elsewhere on campus? Ive experienced a lot of distress from this situation, even laying in my own bed gets uncomfortable. Ive been taking benadryl and using 1% hydrocortisone cream to help with the itch but the skin reaction I am experiencing is gnarly.

This is particularly for those who came from a county more than 50 miles away from Santa Cruz. Do you guys just use UC SHIP or did you arrange to have your coverage moved to Santa Cruz County in order to waive UC SHIP?

I'm looking for 5–8 UCSC students from any major or year to participate in a 10–15 minute interview (Zoom, Discord, or in person—whatever is easiest).

During the interview, I'll ask about:

• How you currently plan your classes
• What tools you use (MyUCSC, Google Calendar, Notion, etc.)
• What's frustrating or confusing about the process
• What would make academic planning easier

If I want to take a nursing pathway when I graduate from my undergraduate at UCSC, what classes should I be taking for my freshman fall quarter?

For one of my classes I was thinking of taking STATS7 since it’s related to statistics biology which I feel like would be useful for nursing(since statistics is a prerequisite for nursing later on). (and also STATS7 is 7 credits because there’s a lab included)
Or should I just take a regular math class like MATH11A?

And also since I passed my AP Literature Exam, there’s no need for me to take Writing 1, so I have a free space to take any class. Should I take any fun looking easy class or should I try to get another prerequisite out of the way?

And I will have my mandatory college class
(college 9).

Please help me out I’m stressing out so hard, it’s so complicated☹️

Hi guys! I completed Part 2 of the Orientation course about a week ago, but I have not been able to see the enrollment appointment in MyUCSC. I double checked and I believe I have completed all of the required tasks for the enrollment appointment because my Academic Record has been completed for a while and I finished the SHAPE training. Please let me know if there is still something I need to do to obtain my enrollment appointment or if I just need to wait longer. Thank you!

For current UCSC undergrads, what's the difference between the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology B.S and the Chemistry B.S. Biochemistry concentration?

(ignore the double send i was unable to see them on my ucsc so i thought the free score send hadnt actually happened. i was wrong lol......) my friend is able to see his scores in my ucsc, i cannot. he has credit assigned for completing calculus for some math courses, i do not, etc.
