Sorry if this is the wrong place but figured this sub was the most knowledgeable place to go. I'm currently looking to upgrade from my beloved 2005 Sienna and we have found 2017 Sienna that is a very good deal, immaculate condition with full documented history of regular maintenance, but it does have 130,000 miles on it. I had originally been eying 2016 as the sweet spot if we went Sienna but this vehicle is a much better deal than anything else we have come across. Also not that it matters much but we are familiar with the seller and trust them and how they take care of their stuff. I guess I'm just concerned a transmission replacement is an inevitability... Like if it gets a clean bill from a third party inspection it doesn't change the reality that the transmission is a ticking bomb. Is that wrong? Is the chance of the transmission failing overblown? Any help understanding the situation is appreciated. Thank you.

For context I have a 2000 toyota camry LE 2.2L. Is it an easy diy fix? I domt have any problems I notice with it, but thought I'd replace it anyways cause ive been doing a lot of preventive repairs for this car as a passion project. It runs fine tho

I came across this car a 2007 Toyota Avalon I know it’s super old but it stands out to me because its one owner with diligent maintenance. Dealer is asking 6995 I believe mileage is 130k would of Course get a pre purchase inspection. Even though it’s a Toyota should I just pass because of the age?

Is it advisable to buy extended warranty for a new camry? It is around 3,000 CAD. How long is this extended warranty and how does it compare to the default warranty of 3 years.

The pack in my 2012 is starting to fail. Dealer quoted $7k for the battery, it looks like they run about $3k in the US + shipping from third parties. I also have some quotes from China for $1000-$2000 plus shipping. These are supposedly new cells. There appear to be companies offering new prismatic cells. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to prismatic vs cylindrical?

I'm seriously considering the 2nd-generation Toyota C-HR Hybrid - specifically the 1.8-litre, 140 PS version (the one sold in markets like Turkey where the 2.0L Hybrid and 2.0L PHEV aren't offered).

IMPORTANT: Please only reply if you own the 1.8L 140 PS version. The 2.0L Hybrid (197 PS) and 2.0L PHEV (223 PS) are meaningfully different powertrains with different real-world fuel consumption, so their numbers won't translate to my car. And this is NOT the new all-electric C-HR that Toyota just launched in the US — different car entirely under the same name.

A few specific things I'm trying to figure out:

Overall satisfaction

- Are you happy with it? Would you buy it again?

- Anything that surprised you (good or bad) after living with it day-to-day?

Comfort

- How's ride quality on rough/uneven roads?

- Rear seat headroom/legroom for taller passengers?

- Noise levels at highway speed?

Real-world fuel consumption (1.8L version specifically)

- What are you actually seeing in mixed city traffic (stop-and-go, hills)?

- What about sustained highway driving at ~120 km/h? I've read that hybrids can lose their advantage at steady high speed since the engine has to run continuously — does that match your experience?

- How far off is real-world consumption from the official WLTP figure (4.5-4.9 L/100km for the 1.8L)?

- With only 140 PS, do you find it underpowered on hills or when merging onto highways?

Problems / reliability

- Any mechanical issues, software glitches, or annoying quirks?

- I've seen it comes with a tire repair kit instead of a spare wheel - has anyone actually had to use it / dealt with a flat? How did that go?

- How's dealer service been — pricing, wait times, parts availability?

Bonus: if anyone cross-shopped it against the Corolla Cross Hybrid or Honda HR-V/Jazz Hybrid, I'd love to hear why you picked (or didn't pick) the C-HR.

Looking at a 2015 Toyota Auris Hybrid, ~136,000 km, in Switzerland. Passed its technical inspection, and Toyota confirmed by email the Relax extended warranty (up to 15 years/250,000 km) is currently active based on their records. Service history looks regular, mostly at authorized Toyota garages, though one recent service was done outside the network (didn't renew the warranty).

Plan is to get an official Toyota service done right after purchase to refresh the warranty and get a Hybrid Health Check on the battery.

Questions:

1. Do you consider this purchase risky given the age/mileage?
2. Any experience with Auris hybrid battery longevity around this mileage?
3. What should I actually check during a test drive to judge battery health (warning lights, EV-mode behavior, regen braking, etc.)?
4. Anything else worth checking before finalizing?

28100-0D080-84 is generally $50 cheaper than 28100-22090-84

Both listed as Toyota remanufactured for my 2007 as a part via VIN search.

Hello! I don’t understand it but the headlights I use on my 2012 Camry and 2015 4Runner continue to burning out. They both take h11 bulbs and I have tried different types. I read where the oils from my hands could short out an LED, so I’ve worn gloves while installing. Still keep burning out on each vehicle.

I've got a kinda odd question regarding the Rav4. My mom just bought a 2025 rav4 and is looking to tow a trailer. I looked up the model and it says that the max tow is 1750. I see other models are listed having more but her's is listed as 1750 on the car, on the vin look up and everywhere I've looked on line.

Here is the problem. someone at the dealership told her that toyota "updated" the towing capacity on the 2025's when they 2026's were released. I can find no information online about this change. Does anyone know what he was talking about? my mom is looking to buy a trailer and of course is pushing the 2500 limit he told her it now has.

I own a 2022 RAV4 with a power liftgate. In 2023, the right rear hatch was replaced after an accident. I have not gotten any other repairs or work done afterwards. Since the repair, the liftgate has occasionally had trouble closing. Yesterday, it became completely unresponsive and would not open at all.

I first took the vehicle to the Toyota collision center that performed the repair. They suggested I have the original Toyota dealership inspect it in case there was warranty. The dealership found that the rear hatch is not properly aligned with the body, causing uneven panel gaps. According to them, the misalignment is causing the hatch to contact the latch/sensor assembly too early, which is likely preventing the liftgate from operating correctly. They recommended having the body repair inspected and the hatch properly adjusted.

The collision center, however, says they did not work on the gate itself and believes the issue could simply be due to normal wear since the repair was completed three years ago. They also said they would contact my insurance company to see if they’ll cover the work. In addition, they feel the dealership’s diagnosis only described the symptom without identifying the underlying cause.

Does the dealership’s explanation suggest this is more likely related to the previous body repair, or could normal wear realistically cause this kind of issue? Also, my horn stopped working after getting the inspection at the dealership (it was still working the morning of the inspection). Could it be that due to their inspection?

I’m not familiar with automotive repairs, so I’m unsure how to proceed. Any advice on what my next steps should be would be greatly appreciated!
